This becomes a nice tradition, they all look nice and ready to start the holiday season, Princess of Wales is stunning in all white and Princess Beatrice looks beautiful and radiant, little Louis is getting bigger everything we see him and so full of energy.

Catherine looks fabulous in this ensemble...sure to catch on quickly as a new trend. The winter white long coat and pants gives the best of both styles. So reassuring to see most of their families there, all looking great as well...Merry Christmas to everyone out there! Annette

Kate- Don’t love this pant suit at all. Seems like a rather casual departure from her previous Carol events. The white is perfect for the season though…
Sophie- Love the splash of blue with the brown boots!
Beatrice- Now this is a fantastic Christmas look! The plaid is right on point and her hair is curled to perfection

    1. i totally agree the pants on Catherine and Pippa are a downgrade from their usual church look, i think its the first time they have worn pants to church.

I had the same thoughts. I actually dislike the way the wide leg pants work with a flared midi coat. It’s not a nice silhouette, streamlined at the top and then several competing wide fabric swaths at the bottom too much going on.

Beatrice looks great, winner of the evening. Worse outfit: Carole Middleton. Did she go to Sarah’s stylist? I would have never thought she’d wear something that ugly and unflattering.

    4. Dear CH.
Could you please tell me in which photo I can find Carole Middleton?
      Thanks in advance.

    5. CH at 06:27, in which picture do you see Carole Middleton? I can't see her.
I do not like princess of Wales' outfit except the coat which is marvellous. I have nothing against the pants in church, but there is too much white now (with the long coat) and the buttons are not looking good. Her t-shirt doesn't look good either with that lovely coat. Sophie Windsor looks wonderful and so does Zara with her simple, black dress.

All Middleton ladies wore trousers, very unusual especially Carole Middleton

    8. @deadeggs, thanks for the link. From the link I can see that Zara's dress is purple and I like it even more now. Carol Middleton looks very odd, not herself at all. I do like her trousers, but the short jacket... hmmm... Pippa's trouser suit looks very good, I love it.

    9. I don’t see anything “unusual” in the Middleton ladies wearing
      trousers.
It is not a major religious event where everybody has to abide by a dress code.
It is a friendly get together for people to enjoy and participate with carols in the atmosphere of Christmas.
It could almost be called a chic dressdown occasion.

Thanks for the link @deadeggs. I can't see what is wrong with the ladies wearing pants. This was not a church service, it was an event held in a church. And if it had been an official church service, nice trousers are still acceptable. I am far more bothered by the length of Sophie's coat than anything else.

    11. In my country women can go to church in trousers when they wish to. For a mass, a concert, a remembrance service or a funeral. Older women are also wearing trousers all the time, during the Summer in a silky or light cotton fabric and during Winter in a woolen or velvet fabric. Men are even going to church in jeans, which is something I don't like very much. I like jeans a lot wearing them often myself but not to go to church. There are plenty of other sorts of trousers which can be worn.

This has become a wonderful annual tradition, kudos to Kate. I like her winter white, her earrings, and the buttons on her pants. Love Beatrice’s dress and Eugenie’s purse. Very pretty blue on Sophie. The Wales children are so good-looking, immaculately attired, and getting tall like their parents.

  10. Wonderful to see members of the extended family. Love Lady Frederick's coat--easily the winner for me. I like the Duchess of Gloucester's coat but the look is spoiled for me by the boots. Love Princess Beatrice's coat. I like the colour of coat for the Princess Wales and for the Duchess of Edinburgh but both outfit have hospital vibes for me. Without the boots, Sophie's outfit could easily be a dressing gown and nightdress while Catherine's white trouser suit (without the fab shoes!)looks exactly like what my dentist wears.
The slight disappointment of the outfits doesn't detract from seeing the family out in force and seeing how the children have grown since their last outing. Savannah Philips is nearly as tall as her Dad.

Yes, I think there has been a subtle downgrading (relaxation of the rules, people who disapprove of rules might call it) there. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing fewer skirt suits paired with hats, too, which seems a pity because that is a sophisticated, traditional look for royal ladies. And it is not pointless. Formality in dress honors the occasion for which it is worn. Gloves, I think, are now pretty much relegated to cold weather outerwear category. Hugs and high fives are also “in”, which is a different sort of change, a huge one in fact, and I’m sure a largely welcome one but one that to be honest has come about because of pressure on royal people to be “relatable”. — Jane

    2. OH!
Well she's lucky that the Queen is not still around.

    3. I don't think its about relaxed rules or Royal protocols! The late Queen was very accepting to Catherine's style choices (she said so herself), back in the days they used to do joint engagements and Catherine would wear very short skirts.
I think its about style changes/trends, she seems to wear long skirts, dresses, skirts. Anything close to her ankles, a style choice she shares with Duchess Sophie.

What a beautiful outfit from Catherine! Love her in the winter white. How marvelous to see all of the support from BRF family members for what has become--at least to me--a signature annual event for the Princess. So nice to see Louis joining his parents and siblings this year. Beatrice, Sophie, and Zara look fabulous--especially Beatrice. In fact, all the ladies look wonderful. I also love that Edo and Beatrice brought Wolfie with them.

How lovely - just to see them all, and to see them supporting Catherine and this lovely cause. They are all dressed well, but if I were to pick my faves, I'd say Catherine, Pippa and Eugenie. I love the style looks of these three. Also happy to see Sophie Winkleman and many of the other cousins and family.
Nothing like a carol service to bring family together and begin this festive season.

Fantastic to see the family together, how nice for the children to post letters to other children on this beautiful occasion, Christmas. The ladies and children's outfits were great. I liked Pss Beatrice and Lady Gabriella Kingston's outfit the best The PoW was a stunner. I can't count them all now, or this comment drags on. I hope this will be a yearly gathering. Love to see them all. css

I love the outfit of Kate. It is a bit of a modern way to go to church but we do live in a modern era. Why on earth in these days and times should you not wear pants to church.

Not one poster has suggested that pants in church are not appropriate. Just that this outfit doesn’t look as good as what she often wears.

@Anon14:06 That is just an opinion. My opinion is that Kate looks beautiful and appropriately dressed. God doesn't care what you wear, He only cares that you are there. That, and the church is hosting a Carol Service, not a full religious service.

Great mix of styles and colors from everyone! My favorite is the red coat on Sophie Winkleman, she looks fabulous! I love winter white but I still don’t understand pairing a long coat and wide trousers, which pulls the eye to the ground. Always reminds me of Steven Tyler!

We can pair a long coat with wide trousers but not with the type of Catherine's coat. With a straight coat in a dark color and black trousers we can.

    2. Anonymous9/12/23 20:11

Why not? What is wrong with the coat paired with these trousers? What should she have worn instead?

I don't like Princess Catherine's outfit. If she only had closed her coat so that we could not see the buttons of her trousers. It looks like she borrowed Queen Camilla's earrings.
I do like the following outfits : Pippa Middleton, Zara Tindall, Sophie Winkelman. All the others there is always something that is wrong or it is the length, or the color combination, or the ugly boots (especially Princess Beatrice), etc...

Everyone is in a joyful mood. It is a great tradition started by the Princess of Wales.
Snow white is definitely Kate's color. She looks fantastic in it - she glows. It was a risk - to be monochromatically dressed, but in this case it worked out. Maybe I would choose beige accessories (belt, handbag, pumps). But Kate is lucky to have stunning hair, which is a "jewel" in itself.
I admire the quiet elegance of lady Sarah Chatto and the Duchess of Gloucester. Sophie Wessex is brilliant - when you consider that she has made a long journey to South America and always carries out her duties with a smile and no complaints.
All the kids were great too. The girls had beautiful coats.

Personally, I like Catherine's and Duchess Sophie's ensembles most.
The Princess's winter white flared pants and coat are pure classy and sophisticated elegance at its best.
Hair and makeup are on point.
I love Duchess Sophie's coat, splendid.
