On November 22, 2023, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands attended the opening of the Leerorkest Symposium at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The Leerorkest is an innovative music education program that aims to give primary school children the chance to develop themselves musically by learning to play a musical instrument. Every week the children practice playing their instruments in groups. They learn specially written orchestral pieces and are from the very first day members of their own orchestra.

I like the green dress. Not too fond of the cape and I don't understand why se needs to wear gloves and a large hat to direct the children. Way too formal imo

  2. Lovely silk dress in a beautiful colour. Top hat. Do not understand the grey glove on her left hand. Why? Injury?

    1. Forse ha dimenticato di toglierlo, nella terza foto non c'è.

    2. Old-style etiquette! Back when ladies all wore gloves, you'd take off your right glove to shake someone's hand, while keeping on your left glove. If you look at regular glove-wearers like Queen Margrethe, she does the same.

QEII on the other hand never bothered with the rule and kept her glove on when shaking hands and so the rule sort of 'changed' in the UK and you see e.g. Princess Anne doing the same.

    3. In Europe it is not old style. Queens are still doing it. I am doing it in the Winter. During the Summer I don't wear gloves.
Princess Anne keeps her gloves on during a reception even in the Spring. How weird is that ?

I remember having read somewhere that QEII was afraid of all kinds bacteria and because of that always used gloves, even when shaking hands. The story goes on that her gloves were washable material and were machine-washed every day after use.
In continental Europe queens and other glove-using people most often use leather gloves (and do not get them washed every day).
Today it was - 8 C here and I was using leather gloves. It really was necessary.

  3. Dès la première photo, j'admire les magnifiques perles noires de ses boucles d'oreilles ainsi que de son collier bien choisies par rapport à la couleur vert olive de sa robe satinée !

  4. Another day, another cape and sombrero outfit! Quite like the grey and green colour way but not so keen on the shiny fabric of the dress. Great to see Queen Maxima conducting the orchestra

  5. Oh, the black pearl necklace and earrings are stunning, gorgeous size. The green silk dress is beautiful, fit and length is perfect. Not so sure about the grey accessories. Regardless she looks wonderful. What a great sport she is, conducting the orchestra, well done.

  6. Extra shiny, wrinkled dress, nice pearls, big gray cape over her shoulders, and big gray hat that covers her hair. And yes, big smile. Very Maxima.

  7. Love the dress (a re-wear I believe) and the cape, hat and gloves. The grey/green combination is unusual and for that reason I quite like it. You can always depend on Maxima to put out something different and I commend her for that. She makes things work (most of the time, lol).
