    1. They are as much royals as a lot of people from obscure, no longer truly royal, houses like Germany, Austria, Portugal and most of the lot from Monaco.

    2. Agree. Not working royals.

    3. It doesn't matter. On this blog that is not a criteria of distinctions. The blog owner decides on the postings. It's not up to you.

    5. Perfectly happy to have non working royals so can we please see more of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Zara Tindall. Also Greek and Romanian Royals

    6. This obsession with calling them not working royals is hilarious. First, they ARE royal. They retain HRH titles—even if they don’t use them. Second, they ARE working for several organizations that value the attention they bring to very important causes. The fact that they don’t work for the UK royals “firm” does not eliminate their work. Third, Helen runs this board and does it brilliantly and she decides who appears—no one else.

    7. Who's the dope that included Monaco in that list?

It's bad enough that there is always some troublemaker thinking that they can run the show and make demands to have this blog run to suit them. You make a fool of yourself when you can't get your facts straight. You may wish with all your might that Harry and Meghan were no longer royals, but wishing doesn't make it so.

I also would like to add Princess Astrid of Belgium on your list, except she is not exactly a non working royal since she is representing her brother king Phillippe on economic missions abroad. Rose

    9. GMAFB! You don't complain about not working royals when she writes and you comment on Zara, Bea, Eugenie, Madeleine from Sweden, Märtha from Norway, Christina and Elena from Spain or other obscure royals or their family. This is only hate against Meghan and Harry. No one forces you to read this, but there are other of us that WANT to read this.

  11. Hair and make- up: beautifull;
“ jacket” : very strange and over the top.
The white colour: out of place as I do associate white clothing with innocence.

    1. Dear Mabel. Are you saying that women who wear a white wedding dress are innocent?
If that is the case then a lot of wedding dresses should be in black...no? Please correct me if I've misunderstood your comment 😉.

    2. Imho innocence has nothing to do with the conventions of coloures - conventions are constructed for reasons mostly to control people.

  12. I like this simple white suit, but the collar is folded far too wide. Now it looks as if her arms are armored in this collar. And indeed not a really good choice for this occasion

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I looked online to see how this blazer was styled and the top portion has been folded down in varying lengths. In one example, it was folded down almost double the amount Meghan has folded hers.

      Delete
  13. The width of the off the shoulder collar of the jacket and it's horizontal line creates a super wide look along with the wide leg pants. Too much fabric and too much width. The jacket would look better with a pencil skirt or skinny pants. The pants are also too long and touching the floor. The Duchess is swamped by this outfit.

  14. I think this is a lovely outfit and it suits Meghan well. I also like her choice of simple jewellery. What throws me off a tiny bit is that the trousers and the top don't seem to match in some pictures? They definitely do on the model, but on her, it almost seems like cream and white. That would seem an odd choice.
And overall, I just don't like the whole setup - cream and white and beige and black everywhere... not a very cozy environment for an already difficult topic. But that's just personal taste, really.

  15. Too much skin (off the shoulder) for the event. And she's leaning heavily into this big pants trend, but it makes her look squat. A little tailoring would help tho.

  16. The outfit in itself is nice. But: This was not a reception, this was a Parents Summit for talks with parents. I was wondering what the parents wore and googled pics. As befits the aim of the meeting, it was more than casual, chinos and sweaters and no tie, everyday outfits for the women, much less then businesslike. Off the shoulder with this amount of skin presented is definitely not something I would consider a good choice in this context and for this topic. (GM)

    1. Did you ever fault the queen for attending events like this in her beautiful, bespoke dresses, matching coats and hats, wearing pearls and diamond or other precious gemstone brooches? Let's not forget that she was hands off. Everyone still adored her. These negative comments are because people have a need to hate Meghan. They will find anything to complain about.

      Delete
    2. I agree completlely with GM, and to anon 17.03: do you compare d.m. with the late queen? O dear...
      Susan

      Delete
    3. @Susan Yes I do compare. The complaint is that the parents are dressed so casually and Meghan (and Harry) are dressed much nicer. That is typical of the royals. More so with the Queen. Why should that be a problem? H&M are the last two people that would care about what other people are wearing. They do need to present themselves nicely. If they didn't, the comments would be about them not caring because they couldn't be bothered to put on decent clothes. They can do nothing right by some people. You must be one of those people. Never mind WHY they are there.

I see Duchess Meghan and Princess Charlene as monochromatic dressers.
No flowers, frills, bows and/or whistles.
With fine lines and limited coulour mixes they arrive with a type of elegance.

  20. A nice outfit, but - as so often - it doesn't fit Meghan. The trousers are too long and drag on the floor, despite the high shoes. The free shoulders are questionable for this occasion, more suitable for an evening event. The ensemble also seems somehow massive on Meghan.
On the other hand, I really like the make-up and hairstyle, it looks great.

Harry also looks a little overdressed. And I can't help it, he seems like a lapdog three steps behind her that's allowed to accompany her. I don't know, but the Prince and Princess of Wales seem to me to be much more equal in terms of body language, even if Kate sometimes walks behind her husband because of protocol. But it has to work for both of them, maybe Harry likes that.

    1. I also noticed that. In these photos Harry doesn’t look happy nor equally engaged - but of course that can just be a bias of this set of photographs.

    2. It is on trend for the pants to touch the floor. This has been discussed here previously. It's not for everyone to be sure, but she is in style.

  21. The Duchess looks lovely, but there is something about this outfit that doesn't look right or appeal to me. I think its the wide baggy pants. The top half looks boxy. I'm not sure this off the shoulder ensemble was appropriate for this event.

  22. Meghan porte bien ce blazer blanc cassé qui monre joliment ses épaules dénudées ; par contre au niveau des cheveux, elle pourrait choisir un meilleur coiffeur car je pense qu'elle en a les moyens !!!

I think she looks great. The color suites her and I love how the pants elongate her legs.

  25. This jacket is confusing- too many things combined in 1 jacket. Foldover off the shoulder, buttons, and pockets. It would have been chic with the foldover only. Keep the buttons and pockets for a regular jacket.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, the foldover shows it: it is too long (i.e., too broad in the vertical dimension), goes down to her elbows, so she looks a bit like swaddled or swathed or packed up (sorry, nonnative English). Looks different on the model. This outfit makes you look at the outfit instead at the cause. (GM)

  28. Naked on top and too much fabric below. I bet it would look odd on most women, not just on Meghan. Color is beautiful on her. Her hair and make-up are done well.

  29. The royal court of Megs; Queen of Camelot, you must remember she is playing a role off script(a fictitious place some people are looking for) Outfit nice not sure about the bandage rap top. Harry looks okay (Tara)

    1. The Queen of Camelot was First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis the one and only, however I have nothing against Meghan and Harry. I admire the causes they support. Most colors look wonderful on her and this outfit included!

  30. It's a no from me! Meghan frame is petite. This completely swamps her. The trousers are way too wide for her leg shape. The jacket with the belt does her no favours.Plus the off the shoulder is more of an evening wear, than for a roundtable discussion with grieving parents, about MH! It just seems a little flamboyant for a day event. It reminds me of the dress she wore to an evening award ceremony.
That said,I love the emerald necklace! Bea

  31. IMO, the only time baggy trousers (on women) look good is when the person is standing up and standing still.
The moment you start walking or sitting down, you’ve got fabric going in all directions.
Style and elegance goes down the drain.

  32. Meghan is looking absolutely smahing. Love everything!

  33. The "outfit" is nice, but Meghan has to short upper part of her body to wear it. The model has the body for this style.

  34. Outfit not appropriate for the occasion, and rather ugly, too much material, etc. Besides, these two are not working royals. Where are the efforts of Princess Anne, and Sophie and other working royals? This is nonsense.

    1. I am gonna agree that this blog could write more about other "real" working royals. As we see there are about 5ish she really, really love. The rest not so much, but give me a break why do no one critzice when she write about Bea, Eugenie, Märtha Louise, Zara, Madeleine or the Middelton family. Seriously this hate against M & H has to stop. If we don't want to read about them scrol by. Anna A

    2. I have re read all the comments and see nothing that indicates hate against the couple. There is criticism of the outfit and queries about the inclusion in a royal blog of a couple who chose not to be ‘working’ royals. Strange that you see hate.
