This outfit would look good on very few people, but on Letizia, it shines.
Best of all, I love the way she has styled her hair.

Yes, exactly my first thought seeing those layers on the skirt, easily looking bulky on anyone - while ethereal on Letizia. First class eye candy. (GM)

Dressed in this beautiful dress with her hair in a smart ponytail, Letizia really looks like the Spanish queen she is. Love the shoes!

Love this outfit! The top of the dress is so interesting with the sheer areas and the details on a layered skirt seems like it could be too much all together, but it’s perfection. The addition of the shoes with cutouts and ponytail brings it all together.

Q Letizia should start to have her skirts and dresses made shorter. This length is really not trendy anymore. I love the skirt though but not the top of this dress. Rose

If she doesn't intend to be "trendy" she should not buy brands that are following all the new trends. This dress or skirt/top is from the collection of Fall 2017 when it was trendy to wear your skirts and dresses according the new longer length. Rose

An astounding lack of knowledge proudly on display here. This event takes place in Andalusia where flamenco style dresses are an integral part of the culture. As a representative of the country and the region, it is most likely why the queen chose this dress . A simple google search of the style will be helpful.

I for myself would prefer the aquamarine look of the woman at the left as being a blonde myself.
I think Letizia is looking good and the dress has a Spanish appeal to it(better for brown-haired women).
But the blonde is taking the centre.

I would call your comment something like playing with fire.
You probably do not know who the lady in the turquoise dress is and yet you use the word " party girl".
      Bad, very bad wording.
The "context" does not justify your use of such a word.
Do you realize what you are saying?
If I were you, I would think twice about it.

If you look in a dictionary, you' ll see what "party girl" means.
Be careful before you write the first word crossing your mind.
Your inappropriate use of this word referring to a lady in the picture is the reason why your comment 7/10/23 at 09:45 was removed by a blog administrator.
Since you do not realize what you yourself had written, you blame others for your mistakes and find harshness in others' commentaries.

  17. This must be one of few CH dresses that look better on the model than on Letizia. The reason for that is maybe the fact that Letizia's upper part of dress doesn't have sheers and cuts the dress in two different parts that do not belong together.

  19. Anonymous6/10/23 12:36

All elements separately are beautiful. But all together, for me there's too much happening. And the interesting top, and the ruffled skirt, and the beautiful shoes, and the hair (and the tan and the arms on display). It's all kind of fighting each other for attention.

    1. Anonymous6/10/23 19:05

The tan? Are you suggesting a woman of color could not successfully wear this because it would be "too much happening"? Is this only suitable for lighter skin tones? What does skin tone have to do this?

The arms on display? Is it more distracting to see a fit arm in a sleeveless top or an arm with a lot of loose skin hanging down in a sleeveless top?

I think you have a problem with the person, not what she is wearing.

Too froo-froo for my taste, including the hair. The transparency detracts in my opinion. Maybe ok for private party. The Queen doesn’t appear comfortable in the dress either as her arms loom stiff and she doesn’t appear relaxed. MR

Now after re-reading everything I’m just sad and frankly a bit surprised and confused. I honestly don’t understand why what I sad about a tan offended you so much to react like this? I never implied or said anything about a person of color or of a certain skin tone could not wear something? Can you please explain it to me? I really didn’t mean anything racist with this (what you are kind of suggesting).

    9. Anonymous8/10/23 06:34

@Anon15:45 Why did you mention her tan (the color/tone of her skin) in your opinion of what she was wearing? You first mentioned her top, skirt, shoes and hair. That is all reasonable and fair. Why did you need to go a step further and mention her tan and arms contributing to "too much happening" and "[it] all kind of fighting each other for attention"? It is offensive to me that her skin tone is a consideration to you. It wasn't said in the way we notice a particular color looks especially good on someone, while another color may not flatter them as much. You specifically called out her tan, which is a browning of the skin. Whether you meant it or not, your words came across badly. We talk about fashion here. The color of a person's skin should not be part of that conversation, with the exceptions I mentioned above. I hope that explains my thoughts clearly.

Anonymous8/10/23 06:34 I mentioned her (spray?) tan because it is, as much as her hairstyle and what she is wearing, a choice. Something that you notice for being different than others times. Skin tone or being of color is not a choice but a given.

      Delete
    11. Anonymous8/10/23 20:50

@8:58 HER choice. No amount of over explaining will take away the continuous highlighting of her skin tone as if being darker skinned is somehow unacceptable in the royal ranks. All that is in question is her fashion for an event that is of major importance to her country. Her task was to dress up, stand next to the king, smile and chat with the guests. She did! The skin tone is just another variation on the nitpicking themes.

Anon 8:58 Letizia's tan has been an ongoing topic of discussion since the family's summer vacation. It has received a ridiculous amount of attention, both positive and negative. Obviously she is able to tan easily. Her tan looked different from photo to photo depending on the lighting which fueled more talk. She almost always has some color which looks good on her. Just as some can't help burning when they are in the sun, some can't help getting color. Those things are not a choice but genetics. As someone that tans very easily, and keeps tan lines the entire year, faux tan products can be worth their weight in gold when needing to dress nicely and tan lines are showing. It is important to hide them. My arms are also much darker than my legs, so faux tanning my legs to even up the color a little makes me feel better and looks so much nicer. I think we should give Letizia a few months to see what happens when the weather changes before jumping to conclusions.

  24. I think she looks amazing. I like the way she changed the top of the dress with the sheer parts. The one on the model would not be appropriate with the sheer part down the middle. As far as the length, I think it is very appropriate for this occasion and a shorter version would not look near as lovely. Her hair is always well done and the shoes go very well with the outfit. I do agree however that very few could wear this outfit but she wears it very well..

I truly can’t see “ The Hollywood hair” hers looks to me like a very well done pony tail not much different than what the many others like the Princess of Wales or Rania have styled sometimes. I also think that exercising, and taking care of one’s body is not undignified, dignity starts with not attacking the character of a woman that you don’t know in the form of your own moral perceptions.

Dear Cherry Blossom, Every time I say something. negative about Queen Letizia, you attack me. I am not attacking QL’s character because I do not know her. She is the queen of Spain, that is the role I am viewing, nothing else. I am not a moralist, I am a monarchist. Her private life is not my business. In fact I know a high-ranking Spanish politician who knows far more about this aspect than I do. I repeat, QL is not doing herself any favour and is simply giving fodder to the anti-monarchists in Spain, and there are more than enough.

I am not "Cherry", but will say that as soon as you claimed Letizia was putting on a " Hollywoodian performance", you lost all credibility. "Hollywood" is the first and biggest insult the ill-informed like to hurl at royals they don't like. Hollywood is a lot of things, but much of it is an illusion, full of stereotypes. Not everyone in Hollywood is famous, rich, beautiful, etc. Many people exercise, just like elsewhere, and some don't. There are more everyday people than the people you are imagining. They don't look glamorous daily. You would probably have trouble recognizing famous people if you saw them because they wear hats and sunglasses, no makeup, and dress in very casual clothes. You must read a lot of gossip sites and believe the garbage they print to think the way you do. Letizia does not have what you think is a Hollywood look. Her hair is pulled up. There is nothing unusual about that. Being physically fit and healthy is not a Hollywood thing, it is a lifestyle choice that many people make. You say it is undignified. I would argue it is far more undignified to abuse one's body by overindulging in food, alcohol, and tobacco. It is far less appealing for one to appear publicly in a slovenly condition. Letizia is always well groomed and obviously takes great pride in her appearance as most of the royals do.

As said before, Hollywood offers escapism as entertainment, and the people who dress up at the events are promoting their work. Try to see the distinction. As for the dignity of a queen, that is such an ugly statement and puts on display your lack of the same, over a dress!!
