  1. Maxima looks great. I love the deep blue colour and the red splashes of the hat, gloves and shoes. My only quibble is a matter of proportion: given her lovely long legs together with her high heels, I'd have had the dress just a tiny bit longer to just below her knees. Otherwise it looks like the dress is a bit short. With lower heels it would be fine. But she still look fab.
Looking forward to what else she'll be wearing during this state visit.

  2. La longueur de cette robe chemisier bleu-marine élégamment boutonnée convient bien à la silhouette de Maxima surtout avec des accessoires de couleur orange jusque dans les gants !

  7. This is a serious but stylish outfit that has some color interest but does not overshadow the event.

  8. Nice outfit. Smart and not too exuberant for the occasion. I’m with Anon 9 13 in thinking that a skirt length just a tiny bit longer would have looked even better

    1. I'll join in if I may and say that the skirt needs to be just a teeny-weeny bit longer.

  11. Agree the royal couple looks very good. I think her accessories are orange, not red. Orange represents The Netherlands so that was my default.

  12. The flowers in the bouquet are Proteas.
I think their origin is South African but certainly from a hot climate.
The plant survives in extreme climate conditions such as one finds in South Africa.

  13. Queen Maxima is in a repeat dress from 2009 by Dutch designer Jan Taminiau. The accessories are orange and not red. And the length of the dresses was shorter in 2009 than now. But I think she made a good choice to arrive in this dress on her 1st day in a hot country. Rose

I viewed the arrival of the royal couple in Pretoria, great.
An institutional, formal welcome given by officials and authorities.
I like the contrast navy dress/ red- orange accessoires.
The King looks also good and well groomed.
