On September 26, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended the State Funeral of the former Italian President and senator Giorgio Napolitano in Rome, as a representative from the British Royal Family. Giorgio Napolitano was an Italian politician who served as the president of Italy from 2006 to 2015. In 2023, Giorgio Napolitano was hospitalized in Rome on June 29. He died on September 22, 2023 at the age of 98.
