Silvia wins for me in her pretty little two-piece, but Victoria looks good too. - The first photo makes it once more overly clear that not everything is well with the relationship between the King's height and the length of his trousers. (GM)

      Seriously?

@Anon 15:32. Basically yes, seriously, the legs of his trousers are too long. Could have said it that simple as well, that is true. Photos #1 and #8 show it very clearly. (GM).

    4. Could it just be that his legs have shrunk.
We do get smaller as we get older, you know.

To me it seems all royal men are wearing blue.
No communication between the two sisters-in-law?
      Both in “ Chanel” jacket.

Number 1 = P. Sofia. I love the black and white "Chanel" jacket. The black skirt is just fine. Good length, good width. The hat is placed at the right spot. Number 2 = Q. Silvia's two-pieces, classic, lovely, love the hat.
Number 3 = CP Victoria. I love the white tweed jacket but not the blouse she is wearing underneath. The hemline of the skirt looks uneven to me. The hat is placed to much towards the back of her head.
Looking at the whole picture they are all dressed well and appropriate.
I think it is the only royal family who is dressed in black and white for the opening of the Parliament every year. I wonder where that custom comes from. Rose

First I must say that I do not know the origin of the present black-and-white custom, but there has been two different black and black-and-white customs. Both were court dresses and did not have any connection to parliament (all black from the late 18th century, both ladies and gentlemen and another black-and-white evening gown for the royal ladies used until the early 1970's). This doesn't help much, perhaps somebody knows more.
About the bows: to show respect to an important lady who passed away a few years ago. Bows were her "trademark".

If we look at old photos they used to wear colours.. So this is something new based on the old tradition as Margot talkes about. Victoria and Lilian from 1999 https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0c/87/b6/0c87b6792e5dfc9d46f4cd91f7f53792.png

  6. Could any of our Swedish bloggers give us an update on Princess Madeleine and her move back to Sweden. Thanks in advance.

Couple's move postponed due to "lack of time". In fact, it is Chris O'Neill who stopped the move to Sweden and we cannot count on the couple coming next year either.

It seems that this is an ongoing issue, for years Madeleine has wanted to move back to Sweden but Chris O'Neill does not. In fact, they moved back to Sweden twice before (after living in New York and after living in London), but each time Chris O'Neill wanted to leave again...

  9. I normally hate pussybows and am thoroughly glad that they seem to be dwindling, but for some reason, I love CP Victoria’s outfit here. I love the whole look. Although I think her hat could be pushed forward a bit. Princess Sophia looks great too, although I’m tired of seeing those tendrils hanging down the sides of everyone’s face. When will they hairstyle go out of fashion?? Silvia and the guys looks great as usual.

Same here, this special pussy bow was so weightlessly crispy, instead of just obeying gravitation and hanging down. And same to the tendrils as well ... I always hate them, but here the contrast with the outfit could not be stronger. She simply looks unkempt. (GM)

As is so often the case, Queen Silvia is a winner with her smart suit. CP Victoria and Princess Sofia have very similar outfits but Silvia wins on all fronts (apart from her untidy hair). the jacket is super smart and the skirt is a perfect length. Victoria’s hair is neat as it always is but the jacket and blouse seem fussy and the uneven hem of the skirt looks sloppy

All the ladies look good here but QS looks great. Her suit fits beautifully and she looks quite elegant. Victoria looks good but the hemline of her skirt is odd--looks uneven at times--and her hat is too far back, which is a shame because it would look fabulous if worn correctly. Sofia looks good too--I like everything about her outfit but hate her hairstyle. Sorry but it looks messy.
