Sweden celebrates the 50th anniversary of King Carl XVI Gustaf's reign. King Carl Gustaf ascended the throne on September 15, 1973. On the last day of celebrations, September 16, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia toured Stockholm in a horse-drawn carriage in a cortège, escorted by 3,000 troops from the army, navy and air force and military bands.
The Royal Family will also be guests of honour at Norrbro, when the city of Stockholm celebrated the golden jubilee of King Carl XVI Gustaf.
