Japanese Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko are currently taking a rest in the resort town of Karuizawa in Nagano prefecture. The couple visited a settlement of postwar returnees in the historic Ohinata district in Karuizawa. The Ohinata district is where Japanese people who had lived in the northeast Chinese region formerly known as Manchuria resettled after returning to Japan following the end of World War II.
So lovely to see them again. Love the Empresses jacket. Elegant and with clear kimono vibes. Looks as if it could be made from raw silk. Beautiful.

ReplyDeleteEmpress Michiko's eyebrows are special. Never noticed they were marked so high on her forehead. The cut of her top is very lovely. It looks like it is made of raw silk. That's how we call it. Maybe it is not the correct name for it in English. Wild silk perhaps ?? Rose

ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see this sweet couple out and about. They look happy, and very much in love. Notice the hand-holding. The Empress Emerita looks lovely in her tunic and pants, and, of course, her pretty necklace and earrings.

ReplyDeleteIf you look at old pictures of former empress Michiko then you see how very modern styled her suits were in the most gorgeous colours. You see it here again in this perfect taylored jacket.

DeleteThey're simply a delight to look at! They remind me of an elderly couple in a cute little cartoon, smiling, holding hands, clearly enjoying each other's company. And fashion-wise this is actually a really great look. I've never seen this type of cut on a modern suit before, it's gorgeous!
