Bhutanese Royal Family attended Lungtenzampa School's 50th anniversary

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel, Queen Jetsun Pema, Princess Sonam, Princess Dechen and Princess Eeuphelma

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema and their two children, attended the Lungtenzampa School's Golden Julbilee celebrations. Princess Sonam Dechan, Princess Dechen Yangzom, and Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck, who also went to Lungtenzampa school, attended the celebrations, together with former teachers and students who have been part of the school in the last 50 years.

Lungtenzampa school was established as Thimphu Nursery School in 1972 with Mrs Caroline Tshering as its first principal. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema are both alumni of the school.

    They all look wonderful. It’s great this Royal family still wear those beautiful traditional outfits. The boys look cute.

      Traditional dress is still the most common clothing in Bhutan. For certain jobs, places, and ceremonies the traditional dress is mandated. Partly they want to keep their culture thriving, partly it’s an issue of respect, but for the greatest part, Bhutan is still a poor and remote country and most people don’t have a choice to buy more than their traditional basics. I find it very special indeed.

  2. They are a delightful family. Love the traditional colors and ensembles. The 3 strand pearl necklace, is beautiful, you can see the quality of the pearls, gorgeous.

    Always a pleasure to see this family. Their clothing is always beautiful. The pearl necklace is fantastic. And the children are so cute, and getting big.

    What a beautiful family. The two boys are adorable. Maybe the little one joining the family is a little girl. The National Dress is fantastic. Q Pema is a very beautiful lady. God Bless them all. css

      As mentioned above, the traditional colors and their ensembles are beautiful.
      The family show an air of peace and serenity.
      Off topic comment :
      When talking about Gross National Happiness (GNH), Bhutan is often on the short list. Of course, the results depend on the way the survey has been structured. For the last 6 years, Norway has been elected as having the happiest people in the world.
