On July 18, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended a fundraising gala dinner held at the Monte-Carlo Yacht Club for the benefit of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Mandela Day (or Nelson Mandela International Day) is an annual global celebration that takes place on 18 July to honour the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela.

Hard to see the fashion in this photo, but I’m drooling over the substantial diamond necklace and earrings! I personally wish for Charlene to bring back the blonde hair at some point. She can pull off this darker color for sure, but I think the blonde makes her sparkle even brighter!

Same here, I found platinum blonde so perfect for her. Each time I saw her it was somehow breathtaking. This darker colour gives her a very plain appearance, which seems to be what she wants. (GM)

ردحذفI think she has gone too dark with the hair now. It was getting a bit lighter and longer a few weeks ago. I actually did not recognize her at first and wondered who he was having dinner with.

ردحذفI agree with other comments about Charlene's hair color. This particular shade of brown is too dark for her skin tone and does her no favors. While I very much disliked previous platinum (nearly white) shades of her past color, a deeper shade of blonde or even a brownish-blonde would be more flattering.

ردحذفThe dark hair is not flattering at all. She looks very dull with the dark hair. The white blonde was making her look stylish and classy. And brighter. Pity she chooses to make herself look so uninteresting. Her makeup has also become practically non existent. Come on Charlene, you can look so stunning with blonde!
ردحذفI hope this can serve as a lesson. This photo was not a planned press photo and I would bet it was taken candidly be someone known to the couple. Charlene looks so happy and relaxed because she IS happy and relaxed. Albert doesn't know it is being taken at all. We have seen some pictures of her in the past that she was unaware were being taken, and the result was the same. Instead of looking at a photo and trying to figure out what she is thinking and feeling, what the state of her marriage is, wondering what the psychological meaning of her current hair color means, let's go with the obvious. Like most of us, being in public, on display, with cameras and reporters all around her recording every moment for praise and criticism worldwide, she is not comfortable. She wasn't born into this life and may never develop a thick skin or get used to being the subject of large crowds. She is making sure her children are more comfortable, which they do seem to be at this stage. Try to imagine how you would feel if every photo of you were read like tea leaves by internet psychics. This photo should give everyone a lot to think about. We are seeing the real Charlene here, not her public persona. She is glorious!

ردحذف1st photo (at the table) Charlene's hair is very dark as is also Albert's suit. In the 2nd and 3rd photo (all standing) C's hair is medium brown and A's suit medium gray. And it also seems that at table Albert is without tie (?)
And a comment about being photographed: Quite recently I was sitting at photographer's for a birthday photo. The photographer was desperate. Not a single photo with a smile! I just can't smile when looking straight to the camera. Perhaps I'm not the only one doing that. (And my dark navy blouse was BLACK in the photo!).
