On July 19, 2023, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the traditional candlelit dinner organized by the Town Council of Monaco. The dinner took place at Mairie de Monaco (The City Hall) located on Place de la Mairie. The City Hall’s remit is highly varied, from civil registration services to early childhood issues and home help for the elderly.
On July 19, Princess Charlene of Monaco received at the Prince's Palace, the members of Jimmy’z Monte-Carlo as well as the crew of Alice et Alexia (Wondermums Rallye) to receive two cheques in favor of her Foundation. The funds raised will be used for the "Swim for Safety" project in Sri Lanka aimed at teaching underprivileged children water safety measures, survival swimming and basic first aid.
On July 17, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the jubilee gala of The International German Club of the Principality of Monaco (Club Allemand International de la Principauté de Monaco, CAI) at the Salle Empire of the Hotel de Paris. The CAI was founded in 1973.
Charlene looks really elegant in blue. I'm dying to see a picture with a full look of the black dress, it looks very promising!

DeleteCate and anyone else who made you the fashion police. Stressful times for the Princess and these kind of comments are not helpful. We should wear what suits us with the ridicule. Walk in her shoes and you'll want nothing but encouragement it's not easy being in the spotlight all the time. I hope she let's her hair grow back out such a lovely lady and graceful.

DeleteThe July 17 evening dress is Akris and floor-length, and the strips are patent leather on tulle. I couldn’t find a pic of the Princess in it, but the full dress is on Akris’ site. It’s sort of a strange mix of edgy and demure with the combination of leather and tulle. I like it - to my eyes, HSH pulls it off really well.

My first association with the dinner dress was a prison window (sorry, I can't help it, this is what came to my mind first) and the second that we have seen something similar, a slightly "martial" design ... but I can't remember any further details. But I find it challengingly interesting, more interesting than the first one. (GM)
DeleteI would die to have that dress, I am sure it is a Louis Vuitton, a brand I like very much. I bought a Vuitton dress last winter, but since my budget only allows one purchase, that will be it. The quality is amazing.

Really like the first dress--very elegant and beautiful on Charlene. Sorry, but the Akris choice is awful--the dress looks like it had to be taped up because it was badly torn. The style of it is beautiful for Charlene--but that tape is dreadful. Really wonderful to see her out and about too.

I agree. Love the first dress, elegant and understated and very Charlene but the Akris one is awful. t reminded me of a medieval helmet. Even for someone as slim as the Princess it's unflattering. Ans poor Prince Albert looks stuffed into his dinner jacket at the same function. Glad they revived for the function on the 19th! .

DeleteShe looks great in both dresses but I think the Akris gown is fantastic! It’s sophistication with an edge, which I think matches her so well.

I'm with you on the Akris dress. I love that it's edgy and different and I also agree that it suits her style and personality perfectly. Charlene is not the 'frou-frou' type, and few - if any - of the other 'delicate' royal women could wear this type of gown with conviction, like she does.

ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely and actually her hair is not as dark as I thought. The pictures taken outside show it is a bit lighter. I even like the duck tape dress on her and only she could pull that off. She looks like she has gained some weight which she needed to do. Her make up is not over the top and she looks great. The navy gown is my favorite ( although I thought it was black) but I saw that someone posted it was navy. Wish I could see the entire dress.
