Today, 4 July, is Queen Sonja of Norway’s 86th birthday. Queen Sonja was born in Oslo on 4 July 1937 as the daughter of Dagny and Karl August Haraldsen. Then Crown Prince Harald and Sonja Haraldsen were married in Oslo Cathedral on 29 August 1968, nine years after they had first met. Together with King Harald, Queen Sonja has two children: Princess Martha Louise and Crown Prince Haakon.
Queen Sonja has many interests that she combines with her duties as Norway’s First Lady. The Queen is particularly interested in art and culture, and attend art exhibitions and cultural events both in Norway and abroad as her programme will allow. On the occasion of the birthday, the Royal Court released new photos of the Queen.
Gongratulations! She is such an amazing lady. Always friendly and down the earth. Who could believe she is already 86!

She looks amazing - beautiful portrait. And how wonderful to be so artistic and active in her twilight years. She's a great example to follow. And goodness does Martha Louise look like her mother in the second to last photo. The princess should take a look because that is exactly how she will look in future years. I know that's her mother but the resemblance is uncanny!
