President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender are making a 2 day official visit to Luxembourg. On July 10, 2023 German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender were welcomed by Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa with a state ceremony held at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, accompanied by the Grand Duke and Duchess visited the National Archives of Luxembourg.
Carolina Herrera Green Taffeta Belted Dress
The green ruffle creation looks awful on her. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteAgree! Makes her look fat unfortunately!
Delete14:06 need to update her decency, because I guess this is not how she want us to talk about her, ergo we don't talk about others that way either. If we don't have a strange need to disgrace onself normal politness is not to deny.
DeleteOh dear! Marie Teresa’s dress, a no no this time! Beside being too flashy and extravagant, it makes her look wider and shorter. Does not do her any favour unfortunately!
ReplyDeleteAnna
My opinion: The only elegantly dressed woman in the photos is the wife of the German president.
ReplyDeleteThe Grand Duchess of Luxembourg in a strange green fisherman's coat has too much of everything - too much makeup, too much glitter, too much Botox.
Stephanie
Agree to all your points!
DeleteAgree with you Stephanie!
DeleteWell Stephanie we could be just a little nicer. Tell me where she had to much botox and compare her to Kate, Mary, Charlene, Letizia, Madeleine, Victoria other botox users who never gets comments like this. Why? https://www.newmyroyals.com/2023/07/grand-duchess-maria-teresa-attended.html
DeleteThe German president’s wife looks ok but very dull. That jacket/coat ?? The green dress is nice but the sleeves are too overpowering and a little less volume on the dress itself would have been better for GDMT.
DeleteWay too much fabric on such a short person. Who advises her?
ReplyDeleteEvidently no one advises her, sadly. Janet
DeleteNo. No. No. GD MT can do so much better. This green monster is swallowing her whole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with previous comments on the green dress of the Grand Duchess. Love her lipstick. I'm wondering who took the pictures in the palace: they are taken at an odd height. Strange.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the above comments. this dress is absolutely horrible, what was she thinking.
ReplyDeleteMJT
Oh no, Maria Teresa, that is not for you, even with a lot of mind-openness. I wonder whether her husband made any comment on that one.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he wouldn’t dare 😉
DeleteElke Budenbender looks lovely. She just looks chic. Great tailoring. Now, GD Maria Teresa's look is a disaster. Way too bright. Way too much fabric that does her no justice. If she would just wear some tailored clothing... And her heavy eyeshadow and hairstyle here are not her best look.
ReplyDeleteChel
Chic ? Not really. Rather boring.
DeleteAgree to chel, chic without screaming "look at me". And that attitude is never boring. e.
DeleteAgree to chel and e
DeleteI think this is a terrible dress for anybody. Except maybe if somebody needs a costume to play a friendly fluffy big frog in a play. (GM)
DeleteSpeaking about advice to her, I agree with Tulipe that her Carolina Herrera contacts should have mentioned reservations for her, or offer to adapt somehow for her, eg on sleeves.
DeleteI like the green dress, but it seems too party-frock for the occasion, and maybe too young for MT. It’s nice to see her in something other than pants or a caftan though.
ReplyDeleteGermany’s first lady’s look is blah in my opinion. The mint dress may be nice, but paired with the pale gray coat, it is not a polished look. Also, the black shoes do not go with the pale color palette of her clothes. S.M.
Elke Büdenbenders shoes are not black
DeleteThe dark green of EB's shoes do not go with the pale color palette of her clothes. The green of the shoes has a yellow undertone, whereas the dress has a blue undertone. S.M.
DeleteDisagree, the shoes don't have a yellow undertone in reality, everything is well coordonated!
DeleteDisagree to S.M. Shoes and dress do match, as seen on my tv screen, perhaps not on your computer?

Coco Chanel said.......
ReplyDelete"Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.”
I rest my case.
MT is too short for such a voluminous dress !!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, what a green mess. She can do so much better than this.
ReplyDeleteI think this dress’s kelly green color is very pretty on HRH GD Maria Teresa, but the design of it unfortunately is not a good choice for her. Honestly I’m not sure it would be a good choice for anyone and it seems to me a rare Carolina Herrera fail. I would have guessed this came from a different designer. I do like the shoe color choice with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI think the pale yellow sweater and skirt combo on the museum guide is very pretty - the color elevates what might otherwise look very utilitarian to fresh and summery. The guide is one of those rare people who can wear a skirt that stops right at the knee and look good.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg was looking beautiful as she attended the opening of Les Rencontres d’Arles 2023 at Chapelle de la Charité d'Arles in France - Perfection. Today is a rare miss. She will get by.
ReplyDeleteA rare miss makes me smile...
DeleteI actually like the green dress on the GD. If the sleeves were flatter more like the model it would of been better. Personally I find the bell sleeves difficult to wear, they tend to get in the way. But she wears it well.
ReplyDeletetotally agree ... the colour is nice and suits her well, to me only the sleeves are a bit over the top, but I still like it on her ...
DeleteOh no! Such a dress should be suitable only for a tall person.
ReplyDeleteLucky it is not designed by Natan. Carolina Herrera one of Queen Letizia's favourite brands.
ReplyDeleteElke Büdenbender's coats and dresses are always too short. Rose
I don't think, that Frau Büdenbenders dresses are too short, they are perfect for summer. And by the way, she has to pay for her clothing, as there is no "first Lady". She is a working woman as a Richter in Berlin.
DeleteThe green color is flattering and the Grand Duchess obviously wants to be noticed: mission accomplished. Sleeves are out of control.
ReplyDeleteMrs Cleaver
Horrible green dress🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
ReplyDeleteIMO, The Duchess tries too hard. She has the will but it appears she can't find the way.
ReplyDeleteCannot find words for this…the colour is nice,
ReplyDeleteMabel
Elke Budenbender looks superb, though the length of her coat, I feel should be a little lower. She looks streamlined and elegant. GDMT looks lovely in this shade of green, I love this color. The bell sleeves and skirt of this ensemble are creating too much bulk and width. Looking at the sample photo, someone talker would carry this outfit off more successfully. The overall appearance lacks elegance.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color but dreadful style for MT. The excessive fabric and ruffles totally overwhelm her--she is too short in stature and curvy to wear this style--and she is shortwaisted so the belt is right underneasth her bustline. Would love to see how Carolina Herrera envisioned this in her design with a photo of a model. Will say its nice to see her in a dress--she's been in trousers and long dresses/skirts for a very long time now.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Oh dear, so much fabric for such a frame
ReplyDeleteHer husband is always impeccable and handsome, does he see what we see? And does not comment? Or suggest a stylish for her?
One wonders
Luna
The German First Lady looks better dressed. MT dress the dress itself is something else, color is nice, but it makes her bigger than she really is. css
ReplyDeletequelle horreur!
ReplyDeleteMT is refreshing. Lovely color on her.
ReplyDeleteMrs Büdenbenders shoes go with the green dress.
