King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway are making a 2-day official visit to Denmark on June 15 and 16. The visit is made to strengthen the historical ties and the close neighborly relationship between Denmark and Norway and between the two royal houses.
On June 15, King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway were received by Queen Margrethe of Denmark at the Nordre Toldbod in the Port of Copenhagen.
Thereafter, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, together with King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway, attended the opening of Danish-Norwegian business conference hosted by The Confederation of Danish Industry.

Beautiful skirt. I don't think the top is the best possible choice for it, colour- and also otherwise. I at least like the top simple if the bottom part is not and vice versa. And Fred please, that middle button is begging for some relaxation of the tension put on it.

A bit silly that I didn't write whose skirt I am talking about, even if it is not difficult to find out. But I also forgot to mention how nice Queen Margrethe looks, that small jacket is very pretty and the colours too. Sonja: not her usual special self, but nothing to complain about.

Wonderful to see this group together! Queen Margrethe's whole ensemble is so beautiful in shades of pink that are perfect colors for her. I love that she has added her daisy jewelry. I don't recall seeing any of the pieces of her outfit before but hope to see the ensemble more in the future. Queen Sonja is so elegant navy suit--love the summertime freshness of the polkadots. Really a nice reunion for all three! Mary looks beautiful in her soft blue blouse and floral skirt. These two items are among my favorites in her closet and given how much she wears them they must be among her favorites too. Looking forward to more events with these royals!

ReplyDeleteQ. Margarethe looks splendid in this outfit - she and Sophie are giving this purple/magenta colour the royal spotlight it deserves, and with good effect. I'm a little underwhelmed with Queen Sonja's choice of outfit though I will agree that it looks smart and suitable despite being somewhat lacklustre. She will probably pull out the plugs at whatever state dinner is planned for tonight.
CP Mary re-wears both the top and skirt with style and suitability for her place and occasion in the presence of senior foreign royals. No fault with her choices here. Looking forward to more of this friendly visit.

mh? I'm a bit disappointed in QS, she is always spot on and today looks IMO a bit old fashion, not her usual elegance and spot on.
ReplyDeleteperhaps she wanted to let the other two, the real king and queen shine? plus the other two are physically more deteriorated so maybe she was thoughtful of that?
QM on the other hand a very nice surprise, lovely colors and nice ensemble

Toutes ces dames sont élégantes, chacune dans son style ; la reine Margrethe est superbe dans la combinaison de sa petite veste à la fermeture originale sur sa robe à grands plis ; j'aime Mary dans sa jupe imprimée mais pas du tout avec cette blouse bleue ; je la lui ai déjà vue avec un haut de couleur blanche qui peut s'associer avec d'autres tenues. Comme toujours, la reine Sonja est superbe dans ce costume bleu-marine à pois qui apporte une touche estivale.
ReplyDeleteThey are all in a very summery mode. I would get myself that VB blouse if I had the money to do so. QM looks downright fabulous, it seems that fuchsia colour is her new favourite as she appeared in a dress of that colour just the other day. QS much more subdued but on a trusted naval theme and her straw hat makes her look nice for a summer outing as well. A good look overall for that particular Scandinavian bunch. Well done.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, but poignant to see Queen Margrethe and King Harald together. Europe’s two oldest monarchs, cousins and friends for so long and now so obviously frail. For once, Queen Margrethe outshines Queen Sonja in the fashion stakes. It’s a lovely summer outfit and she looks fabulous. Queen Sonja is much duller in comparison, not helped by the dark shoes. CP Mary’s rewear skirt is lovely again. Great photos.

DeleteStrictly speaking they are second cousins sharing the same great grandfather. Queen Margarethe is first cousin with Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf who is also the second longest reigning monarch after Queen Margarethe.

One of Queen Margrethe's best outfits I've ever seen. Even the color of her shoes is adapted to her outfit. The different shades of pink go well together.

ReplyDeleteQueen Margrethe looks a right royal lady (Queen) in her ensemble of shades pink/lavender. For me, Queen Sonja has correctly chosen her suit for the occasion.
Princess Princess Mary is spot on with her skirt and jacket.
In photo N°3, there is a good example of fashion shoes for ladies of a certain age (good morning Camilla).
QM looks smashing: it's rare she wears a nice fit hat, but this is such an occasion! I only wish the jacket hadn't been buttoned. CPM wears a skirt which I would love to have in my closet and she wears it well. Often not impressed by VB design, this blouse is wonderful in itself and in combination with the skirt; a skirt which combined well with so many other colours and blouse/sweater styles. QS let's me down a bit: in general she looks fabulous in daytime wear, but today it's a bit dull and the deux piece makes her look a bit shy, almost like a little girl from a century ago

ReplyDeleteThey all seem so happy to be together. The queens are both very elegant but also “comfortable” in their outfits that are not too stiff or pompous.
ReplyDeleteMust admire Mary’s quest for more sustainable choices. At least forth or fifth time she wears both the blouse and the skirt. She sets an example I hope the other royals will follow.
