The ladies and king Willem-Alexander look fantastic. King Philippe also looks great but the top button is too high positioned on his blazer. It's the same with all his costumes, he should get some new ones made (there are terrific tailors in Antwerp, which they'll visit tomorrow). Both couples seem to have a lot of fun during this visit, which is lovely to see.

King Phillippe was thinner when he was younger. He had always good suits before
and still do, but sometimes he is not standing right up. I hope he is not suffering from his hips or back.

Queen Mathilde is wearing the laurer wreath tiara as a necklace.

This royal visit keeps bringing the hits…both ladies look fantastic although I give Maxima the top prize for that gorgeous one shoulder caped, goddess gown!

I wonder if Maxima is wearing a wig, its definitely not her normal hair. The gown looks lovely, as does Queen Mathilde, though the sleeves look a little too short for her.

    1. Wig is not the right word, but we have seen on several occasion that she often wears "hair extensions" particularly for evening occasions. For more see here under : https://www.sublime-hair-extensions.be/

For me this hairdo is a spoiler for a potentially stunning dress: it takes away the attention point from the asymmetric shoulderline ( as does the necklace with heavy stone).

Excellent dress choices for both queens, with very flattering hairstyles. I’d love a closer look at their jewelry. (V.M.)

Maxima lost a lot of weight. It suits her very much. She looks younger and fitter with toned muscles. Well done. Frieda

Both ladies knock it out of the park once again, this time with simplicity and style. I love the colour of Maxima's gold dress. The drapery off one shoulder and the skirt and shoulder portions (the latter is superfluous TBH) that trail behind her are soft and feminine.
Mathilde as well looks lovely; the structured cut of her gown suits and fits her just beautifully. I'd like to see the gown in a colour that wasn't so close to her skin tone. These ladies know how to dress to impress, and both got it right every step of this visit. Bravo!

I agree 100% with you Anon 9:13, they both look absolutely smashing! The only thing I would change is the color of Mathilde's dress. I don't care for dresses that blend in with the skin tone (as you pointed out) on anyone. It makes it difficult to see the design of the dress and almost looks like the wearer doesn't have a dress on. Denmark's CP Mary has several evening gowns that closely match her skin tone that are otherwise lovely, what a disappointment to see her in them, they just make her look washed out. Maxima's dress last night had just enough "blush" tone to miss blending in. S.M.

Queen Mathilde's new gala dress by Jan Taminiau is not bad but the bodice with the square neckline and the little cap sleeves is not my favourite. The skirt again with little flowers that are attached to the fabric (the same as on the red dress of the 1st day by Claes Iversen) is lovely. I wish she had chosen a brighter color. Where is that beautiful cobalt blue dress by Armani she wore for the 18th birthday party of Princess Alexandra of Norway ? That dress was impeccable. It had the right cut, the right style for the queen. I hope we'll see her again soon in this beautiful gown.
I love Queen Maxima's dress. She has a lot of beautiful evening gowns of which this one is one of the best.

Maxima's dress is not gold but the colour is light orange. This dress is 12 years old and she has worn it at a concert on the occasion of her 40th birthday. It was and still is a gorgeous gown. Mathilde looks very regal and elegant too. I love this slim model on her

Both ladies look great. I think Queen Mathilde´s dress is new. The capped sleeves look great on her. They balance her body shape very well. Love the laurel tiara turned necklace.

Although I think it is slightly tight, I love Mathildes dress which reminds me of empire- style. Her hairdo is also exquisite.

  12. Queen Mathilde should wear Dutch designs (Claes Iversen, Jan Taminiau) more often. They did wonders on her throughout the visit.

Queen Mathilde has or had a very beautiful wine red gala dress by Jan Taminiau. She wore it on the last state visite to the Netherlands quite a while ago. The dress by Claes Iversen (1st day) was not bad but the fact that about 3 buttons on the back went open or the fabric cracked, mean that he made a mistake. I found the bodice too tight.

I seldom like Mathilde's choices wholeheartedly, but this time she is absolutely gorgeous, really she is, perfect. Máx does it anyway most of the time in evening gowns, but here, they are on a par. Those lines (horizontal across the top part and slanted from the waist down) are a very clever move for her body type. (GM)

  14. Les deux sont fantastiques même si ma préférence va en faveur de Maxima pour cette robe à cape asymétrique très fluide qui épouse à merveille sa silhouette , j'adore les rajouts dans sa coiffure !

Two more simply gorgeous gowns. Queen Maxima’s is perfect but as a couple of others have commented, Queen Mathilde’s would be improved if the colour was just a little stronger. It’s a superb shape for her.

Now THIS is perfection! Especially Maxima looks wonderful. The colour suits her personality so well and the cut, jewellery, styling... is gorgeous. Mathilde looks great, too - definitely a silhouette we don't see often these days and she wears it well. If it were up to me, these two could meet every month :D
