  1. Catherines dress is gorgeous, this style suits her superbly. The hat is perfect for her, the design flatters her well. The Collingwood pearl and diamond drop earrings are simply divine, combined with her 3 row pearl bracelet, splendid pieces of jewellery. Love her two tone shoes. A beautiful presentation.
Sophie looks stunning, though I am not sure of the sleeveless dress. The dress itself looks splendid, but her hat! gorgeous, she wears this well. Her necklace looks pretty, but is lost in the pattern of her dress.
The Duchess of Gloucester is the epitome of elegance and style. Her dress is lovely. Her use of jewels, (not well seen here) but she had the most divine pieces, brooches, necklace etc.. The placement was perfect, the thought that went into that was spot on. Nothing garnish whatsoever.

I love your description, so right.
      Catherine : stunning!
Sophie: lovely, but I also had preferred a sleeve
The Duchess of Gloucester: very elegant,

Catherine looks beautiful in this dress, but I think it is a too stiff model with a high closed neckline for a 41-year young woman in summer !!

My thought exactly! All the high neck, full length sleeve outfits are aging. The length is great, but wish it had a v-neck to lighten up the outfit, especially with the hat style and summer weather.

      Absolutely!

    3. Agreed. It looks very severe; Sophie's Emilia Wickstead dress is much more summer-y. Camilla looks really good in the order's robes, who'd have thunk?

Catherine looks exquisite, the total look is fantastic. But she also looks like she ran away from a fifties movie. I am truly wondering why she makes these oldfashioned choices recently. Sophie is looking fantastic too, but more relaxed and informal, like she's going to Ascot. They both look great but seem to be dressed for different occasions. Camilla looks great.

  4. Catherine looks sooooo pretty!! I love the dress and hat!! And Sophie is the very picture of summertime femininity in her pretty pink floral dress!! Both of them so pretty!! And you're right Ava, the Duchess of Gloucester looks so nice in her soft gray ensemble. More pomp, more ceremony, can't get enough, bring it on!!

I think all three ladies look wonderful. P. Catherine’s dress is a good style, colour and cut, and her accessories (hat, shoes, and jewels) are excellent. I adore those pearl earrings! D. Sophie’s dress is a very becoming print and it fits her well. Her hat is gorgeous! The Duchess of Gloucester is always elegant. (V.M.)

Catherine couldn't look any more glamorous. Her accessories are absolutely perfect (and I'm in love with those shoes). Sophie looks good, but I wish she wore this to a more festive occasion, like a garden party or Ascot, instead of this. And as usual, the DoG looks impeccable.

I don´t like Catherine´s dress. Not the high neckline, not the puffed sleeves and not the waistline. It feels extremely old fashioned in my opinion. Sophie's dress is lovely but should be shortened by an inch or two, as all her dresses. Lovely hat.

I like both Catherines and Sophie's dresses. Both look chic - Catherine in a sophisticated way, Sophie in a summery way. However I'm done with these tilted, saucer hats..just overkill over the past 10 years. Catherine's suits her outfit..I'll give her that, but Sophie's looks ridiculous now, sadly.

Love the Duchess of Glouchester's look. The suit, the colour, the hat..all sophisticated elegance. She wins the prize for me today. Another smart Danish lady, like P. Benedickte.

Yes, these tilted hats should be banned ... and Sophie's is especially silly looking. In the best case there is one single perspective that this can look good - cf. 1st photo. Catherine's dress is a full success. For me, to borrow the best of the Fifties (or any other vintage age) is never old fashioned, because why not revive something that was so good? and this silhouette is perfect for her. Sophie is gorgeous as well. And the Duchess of G. is exquisite ladylike elegance from top (of her excellent hairdo for her hat) to the toes.

I think Kate never met a polka dot dress she didn't like. It is very reminiscent of one of Diana's dresses. Sophie looks lovely in color, but it is odd seeing her sleeveless when the other women are in long sleeves. I like sleeveless dresses, and if one can successfully wear them, great! I do with she would shorten her dresses though.

  10. Another great outing of the Windsors. All looking splendid. I particularly like the Emilia Wickstead dress on SDoE. She wore a pink shawl inside the church to cover up her bare arms, btw. KC III has been criticised elsewhere for not wearing the Sovereign's Garter Mantle, which has a significantly longer train. But that would have required two pages to come along and carry the train, so I think that might be the reason he chose to don the "normal" length one. Plus the hot weather might have contributed to the lighter version as well.

Both RL look classy. I think Dss Sophies hat looks better from the back, seen a pic somewhere. I also think that Pss;s Beatrice and Eugenie should have gotten the Family order, also Louise maybe.Q E should have done it for the Blood Pss's. css

I love Kate's dress ,also the shoes are just right. Sophie looks lovely ;I like the bright summery colours; and her hat is gorgeous, if anyone was going to be similar to Diana ,it is Sophie; she is pretty.(Tara)

Kate's outfit is veering again into Mary Poppins territory..... Sorry, not a fan. The shoes would have been better without the ankle straps, they make even Kate's super long and slim legs look shorter and bulkier - the ultimate proof I needed to vow to never wear them myself! Sophie wins today for me - two gorgeous outfits in a row for her, brava!

Sophie’s look is splendid. But more fitting for a day at Ascot. With it being a Service of the Garter I thought she might have gone for something more muted.
Catherine whole attire is perfection. The dress with high waist, actually gives her shape. The hat carrying on the polka dot theme was a nice touch! I like her make up of late. Her darker shade lipstick and eyeshadow. It’s a striking look on her.
DoG is old school elegance. The colour and cut is perfect on her.
Not much to say about Camilla as she had her robes on.
All the gentlemen looked fitting in their ceremonial robes. Bea

I love everything I see! Catherine is stunning--I love how her hats are reflecting her outfits.Yesterday and today her hats feature important design details from her dresses. Incredible attention to detail and very creative, even artistic. Ah, Sophie--gorgeous colors, a hat she should be awarded a trophy for selecting. I have one quibble--I wish some of the volume of the skirt had been reduced. I am OK with the sleeveless look (not usual for Garter Day but fine by me). And the Duchess of Gloucester--she has conducted a master class on how to wear gorgeous royal jewels in a stunning array: 4 diamond brooches, a pearl necklace with bird-sized perfectly matched pearls, a pendant with a large pink stone surrounded by diamonds, and earrings that matched the pendant! Every piece perfectly placed and coordinated with her incredibly elegant outfit. Then, she topped off her beautiful outfit with a netted pill box hat. Simply perfection! I am sooooo excited for Ascot!!!

To me the Duchess of Gloucester is the winner here. This is not old school. It is simple, sophisticated elegance. I love her hat it is the best of the three hats. The material that is used is excellent for the summer. Cannot see it very well but she is wearing a lace blouse or dress under the coat in the same color. Sophie's dress is too long and the print is not a good choice for this ceremony. Catherine's outfit : like somebody said too 1950's, too old for her.

Sophie is beautiful, relaxed and spontaneous as always. The Duchess of Gloucester is very elegant. Kate continues to resemble her mother-in-law and looks like a mannequin in a shop window. Irene

Catherine's make-up is getting darker and darker. It looks like a mask. Everything is too much. Too red lipstick, too black eyes, too much bronzer or blush.

To me without any doubt the best dressed in the DoG; pure style and elegance!

I didn't like the 'Mary Poppins dress' the first time the PoW wore it and I still don't; the puffy sleeves, the waistline, the length as well as the high neckline of the dress .... all together it gives me the impression of looking at a costume. In some of the facial side pictures it's almost as if I'm looking at Queen Letizia.

As much as I like the DoE dress, something seems off. Maybe in this case the sleeveless dress requires a different type of hat (wide instead of pointy) to make it more a whole.

My favourite: the Duchess of Gloucester, simply exquisite. I would say the same about the Princess of Wales, but I'm not fan of dots, so dated... I agree with all it's been said about tha Duchess of Edinborough: some sleeve would be nicer.

It’s always fascinating to come to a post late and read the different views 😀
Today, most unusually, I have the Princess of Wales at number 3 in the style stakes! The Duchess of Gloucester looks wonderful in the lavender outfit and the Duchess of Edinburgh looks amazing in the summery dress with the most fabulous hat. While the PofW hat and shoes are great, the tight high necked dress is a disappointment for me
