On April 6, 2023, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended the traditional Royal Maundy Service at York Minster in York. The King distributed commemorative coins, known as Maundy money, to 74 men and 74 women who have made a difference to their communities. The King presented each recipient with a red and a white purse. Maundy is a holy Christian day which is celebrated every year on Thursday before the Easter.

I am a big fan of the Queen Consort and I wish she was keeping the title after the coronation as I think it’s appropriate and dignified. Unfortunately, I’m not too impressed with today’s outfit. I like the hat but the dress is very average. And the shawl thing is just weird. It’s like the muslins you use to protect yourself from baby’s milk.

Camilla is not the Queen Consort anymore, she is now officially the Queen. Yes! |Melanie|

Camilla is still and will remain Queen Consort and she was always the Queen. The only thing that has changed is how Buckingham Palace refers to her.

Royal family official site still has Queen Consort. Might well change after the coronation

    2. I read somewhere else that the coat was by Bruce Oldfield.

Daily Mail : Fiona Clare, similar dresses on her website.

Dail Express, Bruce Oldfield refers to another outing of the hat in 2022, not to the actual dress (also blue and white, an combination always chic).

The Queen looks wonderful in her blue and white coat dress--very flattering style. Her hat is awesome--I love Camilla's penchant for big hats because they look so good on her. The King is looking quite dapper.

Camilla's outfit was just not quite right. I wonder if Charles was annoyed by the hat, he kept shifting his eyes towards it when she would readjust the hat, can be seen in video/photos on sites. The scarf thing was not needed, distracted from a rather plain dress/coat. annie

Navy blue with white always looks good and Camilla looks elegant in her outfit. The only thing I do not like is her handbag to that outfit .

See the point, the handbag (even this brand) looks like a small suitcase, perhaps a more delicate handbag? But the rest of the outfit is superb. e.

May i ask "maundy day", is it in the UK alone? In germany we call it Gründonnerstag.

Well, in Germany we call it "Gründonnerstag" because we are not English! The English people have got their own words, so have the French or the Italian people etc. - it's as simple as that.

Maybe the question was, if there are different rites in different countries, off topic, but interesting. For example, Gründonnerstag because of the green Palmwedel. This day is not important as Karfreitag / Good friday. e.

    3. It also might be known as Holy Thursday outside the UK (like in the USA). Maundy comes from the Latin word "mandatum", which means an instruction, an order, a mandate, and refers to Jesus saying on this day "A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another as I have loved you; that you also love one another". In other languages, this particular Thursday is referred to by other terms. In the Netherlands it's called "White Thursday" and in Southern Europe the word "Holy Thursday" is common. So, yes, Gründonnerstag is quite a German thing.

I really like Camilla's outfit. It's a tiny step away from her usual "uniform" and I think the contrasting blue and white bring freshness without outshining her husband. I particularly like the photo in the church with the scarf across the shoulder, looks very elegant! And the little colour coordination with Charles' tie is cute.

Queen C. is one of the few who can wear big hats. She always looks stunning with them. They both as a pair are a good match. They belong together and how nice that in the end all is at the right place in the Royal family. Frieda

I like QC's hat and Chanel handbag, don't understand the scarf which is not white but ivory. The coat is not bad, but it is old fashioned. Don't understand why the King is wearing a morning suit (I think it is ?). He said he wanted a coronation much more simplified and modern, but all the rest seems to stick in the old days.
