On March 7, 2023, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the 21st edition of the tribute concert 'In Memoriam' for terrorism victims that took place at the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid. The concert was organized by the Victims of Terrorism Foundation, and sponsored by the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music, RTVE, the Montemadrid Foundation and the Madrid City Council.
The concert is held annually on the eve of March 11, the day on which the 193 victims of the attacks perpetrated in Madrid on that date in 2004 are commemorated. The concert brought together people from the main institutions of the State, government, political parties and different social and economic sectors of Spanish society.
Cortana Cuca Maltinto Silk Dress
I rarely find fault with Queen Letizia but something is not right with this dress. The overall look is sloppy. The ombré fabric and draping doesn’t come out right.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
I agree! The Queen appears to still gesticulate inappropriately; I guess it’s a habit too hard to stop. MR
Delete"gesticulate inappropiately"? Maybe in your country, in Spain we gesticulate a lot..also in Italy, Portugal, France, Greece..the cold culture is in other countries... you always want to make your culture is "appropriate"..
DeleteThis silhouette is a favorite RL. She has worn it in more than one color. The difference here is the hemline and the treatment of the fabric to give the two tone effect. A fashion risk, that suits her body type.
DeleteWhat is inappropriate, is inventing protocols that even the royals have never heard of to imply that this lady is doing royal wrong.

At around 1:02, see who makes the same gesture.

wonder if she has a new stylist...her latest outfits are a departure from what she usually wears.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she has spilt chemicals on the fabric of the dress....
ReplyDeleteI’m not fond of this dark, murky print on Q. Letitia. I think also that the ruched style would be more flattering on a larger woman. Overall I think she has far better outfits than this. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteLetizia looks beautiful with her hair pulled into a simple ponytail. Sadly, I am not a fan of this dress--as always she wears it well but I'm just not a fan.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Sad to say, this is a miss for me. Don't like the material or the style of the front. The lovely Queen has so many more fashionable frocks that she wears well. She wears her pony tail well, sweet earrings.
ReplyDeleteDue to the nature of the gathering, I think the queen chose a muted color out of respect. This certainly was not one of her more glamorous gowns but it was probably appropriate.
ReplyDeleteHair and makeup impeccable, but agree with the rest, this dress is not my cup of tea
ReplyDeleteLuna
The Queen looks beautiful, but I don't like the fabric/color of this dress, the tones or washout look I'm afraid are not for me, regardless the Queen obviously likes it and that is all that matters.. She wears it well, the style suits her and fits perfectly. Love her hair in a pony tail and her makeup looks great, lovely earrings.

ReplyDeleteI like it too. I was beginning to think I was the only one.

DeleteYes the queen should be super fashionable as to distract from the main purpose of the concert…
ReplyDeleteI like the design and it shows off her great figure, appropriately. I’m not sure I like the color (maybe it’s better in person vs. photos), but statement earrings and strappy shoes could have improved the outfit.
ReplyDeleteColore, modello, drappeggio e piccolo spacco: nulla mi piace di questo abito.

A rare miss for queen Letizia
ReplyDeleteThis dress is a disaster.
ReplyDeleteQué feo vestido. No lo salva ni la estupenda figura de la reina. Por lo demás, muy guapa con la coleta.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is not flattering to her at all.
ReplyDeleteIt's not my favorite dress on QL, specially the type of fabric, however it's appropriate to the event and makup, earings, clutch and shoes that she wears are a perfect complement.
ReplyDeleteThe dress and the fabric is a no for me, rarely do I say this about the Queen's outfits.
ReplyDeleteThis dress does not flatter her body shape, because she is so thin. She needs more of a structure in her dresses, this just hangs down instead of draping on to curves.
ReplyDeleteSo, the 80ies are back?
ReplyDeleteanna e.
I know that she has the figure to pull off any slinky outfits. This, however, looks weird to me. Too much on the rakish side, I think.
ReplyDeleteI do and I don't like this gown. I like her hair and occasionally it would be nice to see her wear more jewelry!
ReplyDeleteMore jewelry!! Are you going to buy It for her? Jewelry is for wealthy people and she is a worker for the country.
Delete@Anonymous 8/3/23 16:47: jewelry doesn't necessarily has to be from precious metals and therefore expensive . The poster of 15:54 is by no means indicating that the queen has to buy new jewelry. Believe all of us, non Spanish readers of this blog, have been told time after time by Spanish readers of this blog that the country (apparently unlike any other monarchies?????) has a working queen without any budget ...
DeleteI am not fond of this dress. I think this dress doesn´t flatter her. From my point of view it is not elegant.
ReplyDeleteNot the greatest color or look on Letizia. css
ReplyDeleteThe queen has no money for jewellry??? This is complete rubbish. She has, furthermore, inherited many lovely pieces from the Spanish royal family. Click onto Getty, and you will find very beautiful jewellery worn by Letizia during her long marriage. We non-Spanish readers are obviously better informed than the Spanish bloggers who think we are stupid enough to believe all this nonsense.
ReplyDelete🌞 Virginia
The Queen did not inherit the royal pieces. They are there for her use. Much of it dates back to another century and often looks dates and not in tune with her minimalist aesthetic . The more moderately priced modern pieces are hers which are more in line with her modest salary. Try not to count her coins.
DeletePn
Virginia, in Spain there is very few pieces of jewellery because they disapeared when the dictatorship and belong to the State, not to her. Queen Sofía has private things sometimes Letizia has borrowed but probably their daughters Will inherit. There are only three or four pieces by Queen Ena and some of them are even Broken.
DeleteDear Pn, whoever you are, I am not counting coins. All I am saying is that Letizia has lovely jewellry, whether belonging to the crown or private ornaments, and that we are purposely informed that she has no budget, which is visibly incorrect.
ReplyDelete🌞 Virginia
Virginia, Letizia gets 130.000 euros per year, for everything, obviously without mortage, count if she can buy jewelry. The things you have seen belong to Sofía and she borrows them...
DeleteBudget...130.000 euros per year the Queen, 245.000 euros per year , the King.....for living...they have been with the same salary for 5 years, only this year It is 2% higher...and all of this is public. They are less expensive than a President of the Republic, Manuel Azaña in the XX century.
DeleteVirginia, you have no idea about Spain, purposely informed? Why Juan Carlos I is exiled in Abu Dabi and can't get Spain? His son in law in jail? They are there because they have a salary, if people would ser Letizia with jewelry, they were exiled as Alfonso XIII, Juan Carlos I, etc..
