Queen Maxima is making a four-day visit to the Kingdom of Morocco between March 20 and 23 in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. The visit will focus on fintech, inclusive green finance and the development of digital payment systems to improve financial inclusion. This is Queen Maxima’s first visit to Morocco in her UN role.

Because it was cold in the Netherlands, where she boarded the aircraft. She is NOT on a private jet like when she and the King travel on state business. She is on a discount carrier (you can see the name of it and all the passengers disembarking) because this is UN business, and so she would have to carry her own stuff just as you would when you travel to another country on a public airline.

How unfriendly! Maxima is very well dressed most of the time. Elegant and sometimes extravagant(bold colours and patterns that suit her). Her hair could be better. But she doesn't need self-styled stylists.

@18:23 - The king is not involved in high finance like Máxima is. Why must the king accompany her? |Melanie|

    4. Anonymous21/3/23 13:28

The king does not accompany Queen Maxima because this is not a state visit but has everything to do with her work for the UN as Special Advocate for inclusive Finance for Development.

Sad, this is how a Queen is seen in public representing not only her adopted country, but also the UN? Hair pathetic, denim dress way too casual, winter coat and scarf, yet opened toed sandal shoes. From the one distant photo, it also looks as if she is not wearing any stockings. Edwina PS: Wonder who put that monstrous pile of biscuits/cookies on a plate for a few people?

Why so critical of a hardworking woman who travels this time not as a Royal but as a UN representative to work on inclusive finance? The day involved meeting with high level people but also poor people in the community - where being dressed down is far more appropriate. She arrives in the cool morning, and is out and about as the day heats up - so layers of clothes make sense. I find her amazing, particularly when she speaks on this topic, as she has such passion for it and from all accounts has made a big impact over a long time, with much of her work hands on and behind the scenes. Brava, Maxima.

@ Edwina. That's the custom in Morocco to put a lot of food on the table for guests (in this case tea and cookies). On the pictures it is difficult to see how many people were there.

Not being critical, it is called being honest about a woman who wants to appear 'the focal point' of the royal stage, however, she misses the mark most of the time. Her smile is radiant, her intelligence not in question, though we are never privy to what she actually says in these meetings. What we are left with is her appearance, and compare her or not to other women in the same sort of position. I find it appalling for a Queen to appear like this. You do not see others in the country dressing even casually like Maxima, nor do you see them with unkept hair. Its a sign of disrespect for those who have taken time to make sure their appearance is proper. Edwina

I’m in the minority, but I really like the arrival dress, however I’d change to closed toe shoes and either wear the coat and scarf or wear neither. As it stands it looks like a jumble of clothes. The Etro outfit is beautiful and suits Q. Max very well. The scraggly hair drags both outfits down though. That’s unfortunate. (V.M.)

  21. Why all the outrage because people are talking about her sense ( or lack there off) fashion? I don't ever comment on their character, personality or ridiculous rumors, why can't people accept that it's perfectly OK to critique their clothing as long as it's respectful. In my humble opinion, yes she needs an stylist or somebody with enough common sense to advise her. The Max Mara dress would be hardly flattering on anybody, however with hair properly coiffed like a nice ponytail, clean makeup and a pair of navy pumps, she could've looked passable. I do like the ETRO outfit, but not enough pictures to really appreciate it.

  23. I think she just needs to cut the hair. All these women have long hair now but few really have the hair quality for that length. I wish that the style now wasn't always emphasizing length, it can look really classy and polished to go shorter.
