I like both dresses--shirtwaist style dresses look nice on Mathilde. The first dress is very flattering and I like mix of colors. The second dress would look better with a narrow belt. Mathilde is shortwaisted and the wide belt is not a good look on her.

They look so happy and relaxed together on this trip, really nice to see. They both look really good, especially Philippe also. I saw video footage where he tries to stand on a skateblard, so fun!

First dress is very nice and summery and the King and Queen look relaxed. I don't like animal prints, but the colors take the edge out of the zebra print.
The second dress is a big no for me. Don't like the print and I think it is too long. A wide belt is not a good choice for he body shape

  5. The shirt dress is perfectly fine sightseeing kind of outfit worn by any similarly aged lady on holiday. The second dress is lovely but not with those shoes. I guess she may have needed flats for the terrain in the botanical gardens so a shorter dress would have looked better. The Queen looks lovely, more relaxed and less tired than last week.

@AnnieM. An aged lady ? I prefer her in the first dress. She looks young with this dress which she also wore during their visit to the Democratic republic of Congo last year. The second dress makes her look older than she is but that is because of the long sleeves and the long skirt. Changing that and it could be a lovely dress too.

"Similarly aged" means people of the same age. Could be 8yo. Could be 80yo. But the same age.

    4. Thank you, Anon 14 29 I never said she was aged!! I said similarly aged as in a person of a similar age--ie 40s, 50s.

Both dresses look good on the Queen. They look cool, and a relaxed fit for the occasion and the climate. Edwina

I would not wear dress 1 in Mathilde's case. She should go for a top and a skirt, rather than a narrow dress. Dress 2 is ok but needs sky high sandals and not flat shoes.

Lo que a las modelos les queda a media pierna a las demás mortales es maxi. Los diseñadores no lo tienen en cuenta.

I really do love the second dress and the shoes with the first dress. This is such a beautiful couple. ~MS~
