  1. Excessive yellow... The coat is not fitting so well.

Maxima's fantastic streak of late had to end one day, and for me that day's today. It's just too yellow and neither the top nor the trousers sit particularly well. Not sure if contrasting accessoires and better hair would've helped, but what definitely didn't was the ketchup coloured coat on top of the mustard outfit. But as I like the coat on its own, I hope it gets a redeeming chance one day!

    1. @ Nika : spot on.
I’ve said several times that Maxima plays cat and mouse with us.
Just when we think times have changed, BANG, she hits us with a flop. Sometimes I wonder who's laughing at who?
But I think she’s adorable, even with all her lumps and bumps and straggly hair.
I’d just love to have her as a neighbour. We’d spend all the day with the teapot on the table and laughing our heads off 😁
p.s. I’ll take the coat when she’s finished with it.

@deadeggs: 100% agree. While I might not always be on board with her fashion choices, they always radiate so much personality and fun, I'd like to hang out with her in a heartbeat! And I'd happily wear the most whacky pieces in my own wardrobe and have a good laugh about them with her!
p.s. You'll need to share that coat with me then ;)

  3. She tangled with a Colmans mustard pot?
Just when I thought she looked amazing last night at the birthday celebration of Princess Margriet she does this to us. I did not like it the first time she wore this get up and I like it even less now.
Pleated trousers are for garden rakes not shapely ladies.

😂 Love the Colman’s mustard comparison. It’s exactly that shade. And the coat if anything makes it worse. It reminds me of the dressing gown I had as a child. Trying to find something positive, I like her bag.

Good God, lovely coat, but you should not wear pleated pants if you want to make a flat stomach; very untidy.

Is showing (or having) a flat stomach an important everyday priority for everyone? Just asking. (-Ann.)

  6. The coat is different, I quite like it. Not so keen on the yellow color, but the outfit looks nice.

Why can't she stick to a more dignified hairstyle and outfit suitable for a queen? She looked great in the Caribbean.

Oscar de la Renta, Max Mara… very luxurious brands but still I don’t think that Maxima looks great here. The yellow top is too tight and the combo red and yellow is strange, I am thinking about the pictures of that Zara suite on Victoria in NZ , expensive clothes is not a guarantee too look good, you can look fabulous in affordable clothes.

She is certainly a lovely lady, but sometimes the clothes selection is odd, ill-fitting, and out of place. But it's especially sad when she doesn't bother with her hair....sometimes it's very pretty, why not all of the time?

The yellow combination is a nice “ everyday” kind of clothing, but definitely one size too small,

The mustard trousers are just too tight across the middle, making the outfit look sloppy. I think the coat is quite interesting but needs a quieter monochrome outfit underneath, maybe a deeper burgundy colour. (V.M.)

I can't get behind condiment dressing. I didn't like it when Mathilde did it and it hasn't grown on me at all. I love mustard as a color, but it needs to be styled properly. McDonald's is still looking for their clown I'm afraid.

  18. Je ne peux pas rater Maxima dans cette couleur jaune ; jolies lignes du manteau mais les broderies me semblent superflues. Elégant son sac à mains qui peut être porté en bandoulière à l'occasion !

    Wow, what a mess.
Every item here is a statement piece on its own, and together it´s just way too much.
The yellow top is fine and had made a nice outfit with a simple and sleek (black?) pair of trousers as the loud colour alone provides enough interest. The turtleneck should have been folded properly.
The yellow trousers don´t fit well and are unflattering - too tight at the waist, bulging below the waist and too wide in the legs. The colour is too much together with the yellow top. Yellow trousers could potentially work on their own, again, if combined with a simple complement, but it´s still a difficult colour to wear.

The coat is interesting and striking and I quite like it. But: it´s too large; it´s a strange choice for winter; and it´s incomprehensible on top of an already overwhelming outfit. And the hair is the usual mess.

    Looking at her is exhausting.

I will give her that the coat looks better (less oversized) on her than on the model. And I enjoy the fact that shoes, purse and necklace match, even though they had no chance of pulling the outfit together.

Each of the two main components of the outfit look great on their own. The coat is exquisite. I like how she wears the palazzo pant/turtleneck combination a lot. But together it’s a bit too much. Happy colours are always her trademark. Just too many of them in one outing.
