On January 6, 2023, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the traditional celebration of Pascua Militar 2023 (Military Easter, also known as New Year’s Military Parade) at the Royal Palace of Madrid. King Felipe led the celebration as the commander of Armed Forces. The Pascua Militar is a military ceremony that takes place every 6th of January in the Royal Palace of Madrid.
As always, Queen Letizia looks beautiful, especially in red. Her gown looks very Spanish. I love the scoop neckline, the lace overlays on the sleeves and down her side, and the cuffs.

حذفI think she´s worn this before, and if I remember correctly, it was at a previous Pascua Militar ceremony. In any case, I like it a lot.

ردحذفIt's been very commented in Spain her new ring. A simple gold band with the words "amor" and "love" with a Fleur de Lys. Obviously a present from Felipe and what a wonderful present. A simple band with no diamonds or precious stones but with the words "love" in English and Spanish.

حذفInteresting list, however I wonder if all those new items were actually bought or rather provided by the labels as a means of advertising. The latter is often the case, creating a win-win symbiosis for both the VIP and the designer label. If the items were bought at full price, the chocking thing to me is not the number of new items, but the average price per item, which - even for the more "price-conscious" ladies on this list - is close to a thousand Euros. Per item. This type of decadent expenditure (or showcasing) fits every definition of tone-deaf in the face of the current crisis in the countries that these ladies are meant to lead.

Letizia wears relatable pieces that the average working professional woman who earns a decent salary would wear. She also wears clothing again and again like the average person does. What bumps her total up is the gala outfits like the dress worn for the Qatar visit.

حذفTo include .jewellery in these prices is not appropriate. Most royal ladies wear real jewellery inherited from earlier generations, often 100 years old or even older. Even new REAL jewellery will be used by many new generations either as they are or redesigned. Very little COSTUME JEWELLERY is used.

Interesting the points you both make. I think there is a lot of ‘win-win’ amongst the royal ladies with their wardrobes and also the top stars, VIP ladies and women who are often in the spotlight.
I think ‘rent-a-dress’ is becoming more and more popular.
The price I find hard to understand is for a designer wedding dress e.g. 200 thousand Euros and more.
But it’s nice to see the efforts being made to rewear and recycle the gowns/dresses in their wardrobes.
@deadeggs Part of the royal mystique, is to put on a display of wealth. The tiaras, the luxurious fabrics, furs, carriages, all serve to make people believe that they retain wealth handed down through the ages, that the masses can only dream of. Who knows if the price of the dress is deliberately inflated, and who is to say that the precious stones sewn into a garment are not replaced with something less pricey while the original is returned to the jeweler for a small fee. The moral of the story is, do not believe everything you see, and even less what you hear.

حذفElla siempre paga su ropa, jamás acepta regalos ni préstamos de firmas de moda ni joyas porque así lo ordenó su marido. Los regalos institucionales no son para ella, sino para Patrimonio Nacional.
