Why is it no? Do you say no to all other animal products As well?
This coat is most likely 30-40 years old and beautiful and warm. Ladyofthemanor

There is a difference between wearing leather products etc., because we eat the meats. Killing 75-100 mink just for a luxurious fur coat is just wrong. There is a big difference!

      At “Anonymous19/1/23 09:33 / Ladyofthemanor”
Thank you! That is the main reason I don't judge people who wear fur. For most people - not all but most - it is so hypocritical! In one breath they will criticized someone for wearing fur and then turn right around and have a hamburger and fries while wearing leather shoes. Really?! As if a cow's life is less valuable than that of a mink's. “People in glass houses …,” as the saying goes. And as you alluded to, at the time this coat was made it was the height of fashion. There is stuff being made and manufactured right now that we’re all using – not needed, vain, “luxury items” - that twenty to thirty years from now we’re going to look back on and regret. That's life. Her not wearing the coat is not going to bring back the animals it’s made from. It might as well be used and enjoyed. It’s a perfectly good warm coat being worn on a cold winter night in a Nordic a$$ country. Get over it.

And what about wool and cashmere coats? How come you don’t get your knickers in a twist about that? Because the animals used for wool and cashmere aren’t killed? Is it less cruel for those animals to be constantly shaved over and over - *for years*? And what about chicken and fish? When the royal family has a banquet or state dinner and those items are served where is the outrage about that? Again, are the lives of these creatures of lesser value than that of minks and foxes?

I don't like fur either -- and before anyone accuses me of hypocrisy, I've been a vegetarian for almost 37 years and avoid buying leather products as well, whenever possible. As someone else said earlier, leather might be a bit more acceptable if you eat the meat too, even though the sustainability of meat products -- especially considering climate change -- is not good at all, as I guess everyone who has been reading the news for the past decade or so already knows. Fur as such is purely a luxury product today, and when you think about the suffering of the animals in their too tiny cages just because a woman (mostly) wants to lift her status by wearing the skins of those tortured animals, well, that just makes me angry and really, really sad. And, BTW, what makes it even more odd is that often those wearing fur may still have pets of their own. I somehow understand that older women in their 70s and 80s still wear fur, and as someone said, the animals whose skins are now hanging on Silvia's shoulder's were killed probably already decades ago. However, although it might be considered "ecological", wearing fur upholds the idea that it is somehow acceptable, which then makes it harder to stop the cruel industry once and for all. Therefore it would be better to let the fur coats hang in the closet. I have known some older women -- both would be over 100 now -- who used furs during their younger years, but when the awareness of the cruelty of the fur industry became more widely known, those same women (both great animal lovers) stopped wearing their furs for the rest of their lives, and I really admire them for their ability to change their attitudes.

NOPE. No difference. You/we don't have to eat meat to survive. There are PLENTY of other sources of protein. Still hypocritical!

I agree! Surely this is one of her best evening looks. White is a wonderful colour for her and the v-neck style of the dress suits her figure perfectly. The feathery trim adds a touch of whimsy. It’s the icing on the cake! (V.M.)

    4. Princess Sofia had been scheduled to attend the event until a few hours before. Then she had to pull out of the engagement, she was too ill to attend. She might have caught a cold or something similar when she was out and about a few days ago. Prince Daniel was in Davos for the World Economic Forum gathering.

No to the dead animal hanging on the Queen, just as no to when Queen M flashes her old furs. It is time to move on from this, as well as abolish the Finnish fur breeders. CP Victoria's dress is stunning. Jane

  21. Fabulous look for Victoria. Weighing in on the fur discussion, I have no objection to vintage fur coats as they were made during a time with a different outlook on animal welfare. If they already exist they might as well be worn. Hiding them away won’t bring the animals back.

I like fur and i wear my fur stole when going to the Opera. Is not that I'm thinking about the suffering animals, the item is warm, soft and the shape make me feel lady like. When it was made no one thought about the animals and keeping it in my closet won't bring them back to life.
If i had more outings and the weather was colder i would use it more often.
I think the Nordic Queens look great with fur and if the younger generation of opting not too use them so be it.

Love the fur coat, it is lovely and warm, looks great over the dress.I’m surprised the feathers on the dress are okay. Wearing natural products , cotton just doesn’t keep you warm in winter in a nordic country. It is as acceptable as wearing a down filled coat for warmth. Oh maybe everything should be synthetic that doesn't decompose, adds pollutants in the manufacture process, and ends up in landfills.

    2. Those old mink coats are doing a good job as night temperatures in Sweden, at the moment and with the wind chill factor added, can be around minus five (-5) to minus seven (-7)
If I had to attend a night function with a temperature like that and as I haven’t got an old mink coat in my wardrobe, I’d be obliged to wear an eider-down and my wooly bed socks 🤣

  24. i think your point makes a lot of sense. i dont wear fur and am glad its losing its appeal but vintage fur already exists. i do wear leather shoes and bags which are biodegradable and apart from some vegetable plastics the alternatives are all made from toxic products which are not good for the environment. Victoria looks stunning
