  1. I like the pink dress, especially when she's delivering her speech. It's modern and fresh and makes her very visible - I think if she had worn florals, she wouldn't have stood out as much. I guess the look could've been spiced up a bit with some more substantial jewellery, but since it's a conference rather than a public engagement, I think she's gone for a solid and safe choice.

The floral dress on the other hand is another "meh". The colour is good, the length is nice, the puff sleeves are cute and finally the neckline isn't too tight or high, but the dropped waist and ruching awkwardly mess up her proportions.

  2. The rose dress is quite charming and elegant; the flower dress another of her flower-dresses but better colour and model.
She seems so relaxed and at ease this week, wonderfully to see,

  3. CP Victoria saved the best look for last. This deep pink dress is, by far, the best dress of the entire Nairobi visit. Although her jewelry is simple, it is most effective with this dress. Prince Haakon has looked very handsome at every event.

  4. Neither dress is a business dress, but I like the pink one a lot. It´s fresh, unfussy, fits her well and is super flattering. The other one is meh.

    1. Oh my goodness @Vanessa! What is a business dress? It's not the 80s any more - people conducting business don't need a power suit to conduct their jobs effectively. She looks absolutely fine - she isn't wearing a beach dress and flip flops!

    2. What is a business dress? Easy: a simple, knee-length, fitted dress of a fabric sturdy enough to not float and bounce around, in a not-so-loud colour and with a subtle pattern at best, but ideally actually no pattern at all. Colour blocking is possible, some piping or contrasting element as well, a thin belt is good.
And here is what a business dress is not: any other skirt length, billowing sleeves, frilly ruffles, pleats, cutouts, floral print, any large print motif, shiny or sheer material, low necklines, lace in any form.

This has nothing to do with the 80s. A business outfit IS fairly timeless and standardized, because when you conduct business, you want to be taken seriously. It´s not about personal expression but about adhering to set standards in business conduct. It doesn´t have to be a dress even, or a power suit, but it has to look professional and sincere. Within the range of business attire there is room for smart casual or more formal approaches.
You can call me boring or old-fashioned or whatever, but I react to people throwing all conventions overboard. And it is perfectly possible to dress in business attire and still have an interesting or unique outfit as there are unlimited ways to spice up a look using accessories in form of belts, scarfs, shoes, bags, brooches, necklaces and other (subtle) jewellery. I think stockings and closed shoes should be worn in all business contexts.
It´s not like the only other alternativ to business attire is a beach dress and flip flops, though I think some of the outfits we´ve seen in high profile conference settings weren´t that far off just that.
Victoria´s pink dress is pretty, flattering, neat, interesting, decent, polished - I´m not disputing any of that. I´m saying it´s not fit for business. To me, it has "family function" written all over it.

  6. Lost track of how many similar, high necked floral dresses she brought along.
    The pink dress is lovely.

  7. CP Victoria looks lovely in that pink dress, perfect choice for event. I don't mind the print dress, it is summery and fresh, remember she is in Nairobi and the climate is hot.

  8. Yes she kept the best for the end. Both dresses are ok, incl the floral one. But the latter came however a bit in excess...

  9. The pink dress looks lovely, I prefer this to the floral dress. Her beige shoes look good with the pink dress.

  13. L’abito rosa resta il migliore di tutti. Sul fatto che sia inadatto all’evento penso che a Victoria non interessi fare questa distinzione, forse perché il suo status le permette di essere ascoltata comunque.

  14. Would be nice to see Victoria with different hairstyle, pity this hair bun ages her, a bit boring. However she has a warm and bright smile that cheers up where she goes. Lovely future Queen!
