King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are paying an official visit to the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate on 5 and 6 October 2022. On the second day of their visit to Rhineland-Palatinate, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress (Festung Ehrenbreitstein) in Koblenz. Since 2002, Ehrenbreitstein has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
No, to the hat, she is a tall woman and this one makes her a little bit over the top.

I agree on the capelet, and like other comments I don't like the hat. The idea of a bit color is good indeed, for the lipstick as a minimum.

ردحذفI deeply admire Queen Mathilde for walking on the uneven plaster of Ehrenbreitstein fortress. Am not a fan of her dress or the hat. Both is somehow strange. By the way: the woman on the motor trolley is Malu Dreyer, the Prime Minister of Rheinland-Pfalz. She‘s suffering from Multiple Sklerosis and therefore has difficulties to walk sometimes. Christine

Like the dress and would move more to loving the dress without odd wrapping of fabric at the top--hoping it is removable. No to the hat--its just not flattering. The hat's crown veers into cowboy-style which is flattering to cowboys, not queens.

@Janet. Yes it is removable. She wore that dress earlier with another long cape. She has about the same hat in wine red. She should have worn that one with wine red shoes and bag. Perhaps she didn't wish to take all that luggage with her for only 2 days.

حذفI like the dress, but not with that hat...but, she was smart to wear that larger brimed hat to protect her skin and eyes outdoors. I just wish it was a different color and not such a high crown.

ردحذفQM is a lovely woman but obviously not vain. It seems she doesn't have a fashion sense of her own, unless it's for brightly colored, large prints (Armani jackets, jumpsuits, evening dresses, etc.), and mostly allows a stylist to choose her business wardrobe, wanting to dress appropriately for her position. She is tall and has a decent figure, but is often swathed in heavy fabric in nondescript colors, in boxy undefined cuts, with boring accessories - too matronly. Or she goes to the opposite end of the spectrum with overly saturated color and outlandish head coverings, I'm thinking of that eye-popping cranberry with silver print tutu skirt including princess headband. Neither approach suits her. Tailored to her figure, well-made, classic elegance would suit Mathilde best. I can see her in a sky blue pants suit with collarless peplum jacket with narrow self-fabric belt attached to the jacket. Has she ever worn something like that? And please stop wearing jackets loose on the shoulders - also avoid ponchos and capes, today's outfit being a case in point. S.M.
ردحذفNow that you mentioned it she has in fact a light blue Armani pant suit. On jackets belts even narrow ones are not recommended by the other bloggers. She also wore 2 collarless similar pantsuits lately. The pale pink one and the mustard (yellow) one . (I agree on that one the belt of the trousers was too wide and the buckle to large). A peplum jacket is nothing for Queen Mathilde. There is nothing wrong with the jackets she has. I can understand some of you people don't like Natan, but Queen Mathilde is wearing other designers. Anyway, no matter what designer she is wearing the fashion police is always ready to break her down. Now even her accessories aren't good enough any more. I like her shoes and Dior handbags, her clutches and jewelry. They are not boring at all and are bought at grand brands. I wish I could buy some of these accessories myself. Are you in the fashion branch in the U.K.? If so, I can understand your reactions since they are always later than other countries to pick up fashion items.

Yes deadeggs some royals are criticized for the way they are dressed others wearing exactly the same aren't. Perhaps King Philippe is just acting like a gentleman and give her a hand or an arm considering the path they are walking on.

حذفI saw those other photos too when they visited the vinyards and cellers. Queen Mathilde was wearing a deep pink dress with a pleated skirt. But often we do not see all the pictures of her on this blog. I'm getting the impression that each time she wears a beautiful dress, the pictures are forgotten on purpose. The former website called "Fashion queen Mathilde" has changed his name into "Garderobe Royale". If you wish to see more pictures of Queen Mathilde you can find them there. The Dutch magazine NOUVEAU also give better photos of her each time she is visiting places in Belgium or abroad.
Not keen on the outfit, or the hat, but country side is beautiful. My ancestors came from the area, though they were farmers, and weavers of beautiful linens.
ردحذفIn my newspaper I read that Queen Mathilde received a lot of good comments from the British newspapers, especially the red dress has been considered as very elegant, classy, etc... including the headband.
