King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan attended a religious ceremony to commemorate former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The King and Queen and senior government officials offered 1,000 butter lamps in memory of the former Prime Minister of Japan, Abe Shinzo, at the Kuenrey of Tashichhodzong.

Shinzo Abe was the longest-serving Japanese Prime Minister until 2020, when he left office due to his health state. Shinzo Abe was shot and killed by a man while campaigning in Nara.

    Dignity, moving, and a beautiful gesture from this family. I do wish we had more exposure to more of their daily lives. Condolences to the Abe family.

    His is an unbearable loss. Mr. Abe was such a respectable, honorable and reputable statesman. The manner in which he was taken is so hurtfully unfair. May God give us all the fortitude to come to terms with his passing. Mr. Abe will be remembered well and we thank God for his life. It is good to see others paying heartfelt tribute to Japan's longest serving Prime Minister. God grant Mr. Abe perpetual perfect peaceful rest.
