The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is currently on a two-day visit to Denmark as part of the tour he makes in Europe. Queen Margrethe received Prime Minister Modi on 3 May, and then she hosted an official dinner in Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended both the reception and the dinner.
Valentino Cape Sleeve Silk Gown
That´s a nice dress on Margrethe, I just wish it was in a slightly brighter tone of navy than this midnight blue.
ReplyDeleteMary´s cape dress looks lifeless in this colour. A bit like concrete. And the fabric looks pulled, probably because of the long sleeve top she put underneath.
I wonder why Fredrik is the only one wearing a sash.
Mette Fredriksen looks nice. Maybe add a necklace.
All three ladies look lovely. Queen Margarethe's midnight blue slip and lace dress perfectly shows off her slender frame; it has just the right amount of style and elegance for this occasion when instead she often prefers big fussy dresses for state business. Furthermore, for a lady in her early 80s, she slays this dress and look. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCP Mary also looks like the epitome of elegance in the cape sleeve Valentino. What keeps it from crossing the line of excess is the lovely gun metal grey. She did well to keep her jewellery to the barest minimum as well, and to wear her hair down, all of which gives a look of quiet and casual elegance.
Prime Minister Frederiksen's copper and gold ensemble also looks elegant and chic. It fits and suits her perfectly.
None of them look loud or garish in their choice of colours and that goes for Prime Minister Modi as well, whose light coloured Sherwani set (including printed shawl) works in perfect harmony and sophistication to match those of his hosts.
If you've been able to see the interior of the dining area on social media, you will agree that it looks absolutely stunning with the candles, masses of pale green, cream and pink floral centrepieces, and green crystal glassware amid sliver cutlery. A very beautiful event.

So excited to see that gorgeous Valentino gown again! Looks like it now has sleeves or another something underneath adding the sleeves. Wish there were more photos of CP Mary in the dress. Janet
ReplyDeleteCP Mary elegant as usual love her hair & dress I think thus is a re-wear not sure. Nevertheless, it is a stunning dress looks great on Mary. Mary
ReplyDeleteI LOVE CP Mary’s gown (with sleeves). As a matter of fact, it is exactly as my wedding dress in 1975. … Ana Maria
ReplyDeleteHeureux le premier ministre indien...il ne souffre pas de la chaleur comme dans son pays...
ReplyDeleteSpectacular, Mary looks wonderful and Frederik very nice! in the uniform. Jane
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks stunning, beautiful Navy, lace gown, love the Sapphire brooch, perfect placement. The pearl necklace looks gorgeous. CP Mary looks lovely, but I prefer this gown the first time round.
ReplyDeleteQueen Margrethe looks good. Princess Mary's dress is a nice colour not sure about the cape effect. Mr Modi looks very interesting; the colour is nice, there is just something about the cloak; and the trousers and the shoes; having been to India I know this form of dress is traditional (Tabby)
ReplyDeleteToday I wanna say something about the men's costumes only. The PM of India in this gorgeous chique traditionel costume in light grey ton-sur-ton. Hé does not need a lot of fuss to be important. And then Frédéric in this "clown " uniform with too much gold, too big epaulettes, and too many decorations, about 50 :for what? It's Why not a simple Black Tie suit.
ReplyDeleteBlack Tie???!!! Please google men fashion. It is never too late to learn something new. Siv
DeleteNot thrilled about QM's gown as I don't like the fitting: it seems short on sleeves and skirt. The way the queen wears her hair today suits her well. To me the beautiful Valentino dress requires an updo of the hair in order to put emphasis on the cape. I liked it better on CPM when she wore it before.

Wow, very elegant and regal looks from Queen Margrethe and The Crown Princess. I wish princess Benedikte could have also attended.
ReplyDeleteElisa.
Que d'élégance chez la reine Margrethe et la princesse Mary mais également chez la dame que nous voyons peut-être avec son époux ?!

ReplyDeleteWOW. Princess Mary was gorgeous. Very elegant. What a beautiful dress.
Another lovely evening dress for the queen. The Valentino dress looked absolutely stunning at the Japanese emperor's enthronement with the jewellery, hat sash and orders. Here it just looks bland and dull despite the beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteLe signore tutte molto eleganti, particolarmente bello l'abito del primo ministro.
ReplyDeleteFrederik dovrebbe migliorare la sua postura, mantiene sempre le gambe troppo larghe
Mary's gown is elegant but the lavender gray color washes her out and makes her look ghostly. She looks best in jewel tones in my opinion. And an updo would suit her look much better and give her shoulder area more 'breathing room",
ReplyDeleteCP Mary : beautiful dress. She could have add a little diamond brooch or a necklace in white gold with some diamonds. I preferred the gown like it was before without the added sleeves.
ReplyDeleteI also like the prime minister's gown. The rose gold of the bodice and the brown of the skirt are good colors for her
The prime minister's gown was lovely. Anne
