This is probably the best I've QM ever seen dressed: colours, design of skirt and jacket, print, jewelry and hat make that the very happy looking queen looks fantastic!

As mentioned in an earlier post about PI confirmation, all others are well and appropriately dressed.

She has the same big hands as her mother has.

I can see nothing particularly big about either Mary or Isabella's hands. And I can't see the relevance to either clothing or confirmations.

    What stunning pics!
Isabella is radiant and gorgeous in her (mum's) total white suit .
Her hair is beautifully styled and her accessories match her outfit perfectly.
An unforgettable milestone in her life.
Wishing her all the best for her future xx

As a Lutheran this a momentus occasion, the next step in a Christians life. I would think Princess Isabella received the brooch as a confirmation present.
I do like the suit she is wearing;at onetime we would wear white dresses or a white gown. The family look good;but on this occasion it is not about them.(Tara)

Isabella got the broch from her grandmother at her christening. Just like Margrethe got it from her grandmother Queen Alexandrine at her christening in 1940.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful young princess and her family. A pity we cannot see a better picture of Queen Mathilde one of her godmothers.
It looks like she is wearing a blue and white dress and a nice blue hat.
I suppose there was a color theme blue, white and read. But the most important on this day is the confirmation of Princess Isabella which take place later than in Catholic church. In catholic church the children are around 12 years old and it is called also "Holy communion". The confirmation take usually place on the same day. The children are also dressed in white but it is not an obligation anymore.

@Anon 8:11 In The Catholic Church, Holy Communion and Confirmation are not the same thing. They are two different sacraments (out of seven) that Catholics receive as they grow up. Baptism is the first which the person receives as a baby, followed by First Holy Communion at 6 or 7yo and Confirmation at 12 or 13yo.
However you can become a Catholic at any time of your life so if you are past the age of 13, you can receive all these three at the same time in one ceremony.

I know it is not the same anymore in the Catholic Church than it was before. I did my First Holy Communion at the age of 7, My Solemn Holy Communion at the age of 12 and a few weeks after that the bishop came to our town to lead the Confirmation of the children who had their Solemn Holy Communion that year. When my son who just past the age of 50 now had is Solemn Holy Communion the Confirmation happened on the same day and it was not in the presence of a bishop but with the parents and family of the children and the Pastor of the Parish.

A joyous moment for the whole family, they all look genuinely happy. P. Isabella is glowing, she has changed quite a lot since not so long ago, she has blossomed into and very beautiful young lady, looking every inch a young adult now and not a little girl anymore. She also seems sweet and serene, in the past she always gave me some sort of rebellious vibes, but could have been just a phase, she surely looks more mature now.

I am on the fence about the suit, while it is a nice one per se, it makes her look much older than her age. But she looks happy and that's all that matters.

Just a curiosity: did we ever see a similar coverage of Prince Christian's confirmation? Maybe there was one but I simply do not remember. Any fellow commenters here can refresh our memories?

    1. This confirmation is more covered than the one from H.R.H. Prince Christian do to the fact, it is the first Royal female confirmation in 61 years...

Later that day H.R.H. Princess Isabella changed into a dress and sneakers, Dress Designer was Zimmermann.

Yes there was. I believe there was one post here on this site with a few photos, but I saw more photos on IG. Due to Corona it had been postponed by a year with only a small guest list including his god-parents. I think CP Haakon and CP Mette Marit were there. CP Mary wore a dark blue dress with white dots if I remember correctly.

Yes, Prince Christians confirmation a year ago was reported just as extensively as Isabellas. But due to covid-19 restrictions hardly anyone was present but the very close family. His godparents from the royal houses of Norway and Sweden were not present and his uncle Prince Joachim, Marie and their children were also absent, but P Nicolai and P Felix were there. If I remember correctly there were only 25 guests and the only godparent present was Jeppe Handwerk, Cp Frederik’s friend from the navy. CP Mary wore a polka dot blue dress and P Isabella a suit almost identical to the one she wore to her own confirmation.

Anonymous @18:11, not sure what Catholic Church you attend, but confirmation is called confirmation, and it can be anytime, generally at around 13-14. Holy Communion is called that or in some countries First Communion and generally happens between 8- 11 years of age.

  12. Everyone is beautiful. Although Queen Margrethe wears a lot of blue I do not think I have seen her in this ensemble, she looks lovely. Princess Isabella has never looked prettier and the new brooch is the feather in the cap on Mary's beautiful white suit. Now what can I say, Crown princess Mary is so beautiful in her pink dress and as always she is the star and steals the show!

No, not much from Christian's confirmation service was published in the media, but the Royal House has really gone public since. . CP Mary has a past in PR and the Royal Family has almost become influencers with QM as the front figure. She loves it. 🤩 LL

@LL, Influencers? How do you know what she loves? Somehow there is always the few that will criticize them, if they don’t pose too much with their children they condemn them, and when they do, they call them influencers. I am not just talking about this family, but every public one.

  16. This young lady has the most beautiful smile, it wonderful to see. I was thinking at her Grand mothers celebration dinner and few weeks back, she was very sullen, but to see her on her special day surrounded by her family, just beautiful.
The brooch is stunning and she looks lovely in her mother's suit, what a lovely idea. Everyone looks so elegant, especially Princess Marie her pant suit is gorgeous.

@Sharni, I understand that is your perception, but have you considered that judging from just a few photos is a little arbitrary? After all of the hundreds taken at one event, somehow they press loves to capture the one that will get people talking.

  19. Si je ne me trompe point, je pense que la broche délicate d'Isabella est faite de diamants, de deux perles dont une de quartz rose ou peut-être une perle de lambi très bien choisie pour cet occasion particulière !

What religion are the Danish royal family? They belong to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Denmark, which 75 per cent of the population are believed to follow. It's tradition for non-Danes who marry in to the royal family to convert and become members of the church. KSH

I only can say how it was in the old days. The ceremonies are not taking place the same way as before. Maybe I expressed myself not clearly. I know that Holy Communion and Confirmation are two different things.
