Such an interesting blue collar and cuff detail on Masako's suit. It elevates a fairly nondescript cream suit to a different level, and I like that it is repeated on the pocket flaps and hat band. I wish that the IHA would change those style of hats - for all of them. It would make such a levitating difference!

(PS on another note, I was so looking forward to the Japanese Royals state visit to the UK that was derailed due to COVID in 2020. I suppose that with the Queen's Jubilee celebrations this year, and the Queens own health issues, as well as scheduling commitments on both sides, there's small chance of a rescheduling happening any time soon.)

Me too. I was looking forward to the state visit to the U.K.
I think it was planned for late 2020 but 'covid' got in the way.
I hope it is rescheduled asap.

The Empress looks beautiful. Her suit, hat and shoes with blue trim are very pretty. The pearl necklace and earrings are lovely. She stands out among the princess in their monochrome ensembles. (Debra)

The identical hat styles needs to be gone. They look like step-ford wives

This outfit, with the interesting blue trim and worn with the two-toned shoes, is classic with a twist. An excellent look. I think E.Masako would suit a wide variety of hats, and I’d love to see her try some new ones. (V.M.)

Agree with you, V.M.; also in my opinion EM is suitable for a wide range of hats other than this model with the much too wide ribbon

The Empress is beautifully turned out. I love her suit and the spectator pumps. I so wish this style of hat would go away--it hides the ladies faces by sitting so low on their foreheads. Just tilt it up so their faces can be seen.

  8. My oh my......... Empress Masako......... What elegance.
If only the hat could be changed.
It seems to be a few sizes too big for her and her face gets lost under it.
I love the way she is standing in photo N° 6.
