Throughout 2022, the 50th anniversary of Queen Margrethe’s accession to the throne is being celebrated with a series of events. On May 21, Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Princess Benedikte attended the Ballet Gala at the Tivoli Concert Hall that was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne.

Tivoli celebrated that anniversary with activities for guests in the park and a ballet gala at the Concert Hall. Among other things, Queen Margrethe visited the Pantomime Theater and Tivoli Garden’s costumer, and a jubilee tree was planted in the middle of Tivoli. In the evening, dancers from the Hamburg Ballet, Royal Ballet in London, Paris Opera, New York City Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet, among others, performed in the Ballet Gala.

  1. On parle beaucoup et toujours de Mary, en raison de sa position dans la succession, mais Marie est encore plus jolie à mon goût.

This look on Marie is way too severe. Marie likes & looks good in dark colors, but this outfit & style (hair included) are not working *Regina

  2. Marie - just wow.
    Margrethe - an absolute delight.
    Mary - too dark.
    Benedikte - jarring colours.

Marie: not that great, especially the dark top of the outfit
      Mary: too dark an outfit
      Queen M: Lovely
Princess B: The darkest of purple could have been left at home, otherwise, a lovely outfit.
The Men: Handsome yet not coordinated outfits with the respective wives

Oh shocking wearing black at this time of the year...and I have only to read 5 posts. The old biddys here, you can count on them. Predictable as they are. Siv

What a splendid post. All the royal ladies looks fabulous. I love the Queen's gown. The fabric looks sublime and the fit is perfect. Same for Princess Benedikte. I especially love her color combination. Princess Marie's gown is beautiful. Love the embellishment at the neck, and the icy blue skirt. Her bun is perfect. Crown Princess Mary's dress is very pretty but a bit stark compared to the others, but she looks lovely, as always. All wore beautiful jewels...pearls, diamonds, amethysts...Hooray! (Debra)

The Queen looks super tonight, and she looks beautiful. The three Pss look very nice too, but not to special, not over the top outfits.

What a strange combination of outfits. The Queen and Princess Benedikte are dressed in lovely summery outfits. Then Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie are in dresses that look more suited for winter. I actually didn’t recognisePrincess Marie and I’m not certain the severe hairstyle is her best look, though her outfit is super elegant.

Marie is the winner for me--I love her outfit and her whole look! She looks fabulous. Mary's coat (relieved to find out it is a coat) is not ever going to make it on my favorites list. I would very much like to see the dress she is wearing underneath though. Princess Benedikte looks lovely and that amethyst pendant is dazzling. HM looks beautiful in her pretty floral and love the pale blue wrap.

I agree with you and these are my thoughts exactly. All 4 are different types of gowns and all 4 suit the wearer exactly to their individual styles. Can't pick one over the other as they're not the same level, and they all look good in their own particular way. I like all 4 of them.

No, I would not say always the star. I think Marie is the star here. Mary's dress is way too dark and those large flowers are not the most attractive. Marie's ice blue and black is much more chic!

Well for me CP Mary is the stand out, she looks beautiful. Princess Marie's dress look fine on the model full length but not the shorter length. For me HM looks ok but the dress style seems more suited for a child. GJ

As much as I disliked yesterday's dress, so much I love PM's skirt and top she wore at the ballet gala; she looks stunning: hair, colours, design, jewelry and modest make-up make it a fantastic overall picture.

CPM dress appears a bit shapeless to me and I don't like the collar of it. Although the black and cold combine well and accessories are well chosen the overall look isn't giving me a 'wow'.

The upper part of QM's dress together with the belt isn't looking good; this should have been done so much better. The fabric is festive and the design of the dress is one worn more often by the queen. To me the cape is of the wrong colour: too lavender compared to the blue tones in the dress.

PB looks very stylish again. I would love to have a better look at her cape: as it appears there are different shades of purple in it.

The Queen looks lovely as well in the beautiful floral gown. ❤️
CP Mary in a dark coat with the big print 🤔, is 'a no' imo. Louise2

  21. The Queen for the win for her beautiful Spring dress. I like P. Marie's outfit but the skirt is too long. P. Mary looks pretty but I prefer Spring like colors for this time of year. P. Benedikte looks nice too.

For me the Queen's outfit is my favourite - love the style and the summery colours. I think Marie looks lovely - I especially like the skirt. I like Mary's outfit but she seems to be dressed for a different event/time of year from the others - would love to see it in the autumn at a cocktail event. I don't think there is anything special about Benedikte's look.

Tivoli is a magic place in Copenhagen.
This time Queen Margrethe overshadows eveybody else in my view, her outfit with this floral print, the shawl, jewelry and accessories are simply wonderful.
Pss Marie looks pretty as always, Mary could have done much better , Pss Benedikte oozes class and the Princes are dapper (I like P.Joachim in particular, a truly good- looking man IMO).

HM is the stand out for me ! She has an amazing figure !
PB is always dressed for the occasion, and always elegant with it .
CPM I don't know if its her hair or make up, but I find her look very stark ! I love the gold and black combination, but for price (I looked it up!) it looks a little dated.
PM Doesn't have the height to pull off a long skater skirt. The design is beautiful, but its not for Marie. The top however is beautiful. As is her hair and make up. P

The Danish family are beautiful. The Queen is always happy and elegant and she wears some amazingly bright dresses. The family are close and obviously there is great love among them. Not afraid to show affection in public, unlike the coldness of the English monarchy. Our Princess Mary, we here in Australia are so proud of her. Wish they were our monarchy.

    1. Oh come on @ Anonymous 23/5/22 08:41. I think you're doing well in Australia with the British Royals and their colonial pomp and circumstances plus they throw in some juicy bits of family scandal from time to time for you to get excited about.
You wouldn't get this from the Danish monarchy.
Opps - opps - opps - fashion wise. My vote is for Princess Mary's frock as the best of the day and as usual, I give my 10/10 to Princess Benedikte for class.

The Danish royal family is not close, but Danish media do not write about it *), but one fact is, that they are actually only seen together at all kinds of official event, not even the annual Graasten summer stays or holidays, Queen Margrethe can gather the family together. But a fashion blog is not the place to write about the causes.

*) ... only what is happening in other royal houses. 😉

The dress of the queen is good for a girl in her twenties not for a 80 something old woman... Good taste equal to zero.
