  1. Très rafraîchissante la tenue de Masako ; ce tailleur lui va à ravir mais je ne suis fan de son chapeau ; Naruhito tiré à quatre épingles sait toujours harmoniser la couleur de sa cravate avec celle de son épouse ; classe !

I am sorry to say, but except for the bright green colour, these suits are always the same. Very old fashioned .Why? Japanese fashion is in general in it's simplicity very modern and beautiful

I totally agree. I have the impression they cannot choose their own outfits.

Actually this is very different from the normal. The skirt is at her knees as opposed to 5 inches below, and the jacket is tight fitting. she looks lovely.

A good combination that EM wears in a nice green shade. The hat isn't the best for this outfit, though: I'd rather see it without a hat, but if etiquette calls for a hat, a pillbox hat would be so much better.

  4. As usual, exquisite tailoring.
    Love the lime green colour.
BUT wish the hat wasn't there.
Maybe the Empress has to wear it to conform with the palace rules ???
And also, as usual, that beautiful strand of pearls.

  5. Nice to see her in a lovely refreshing green.

  6. Her suit is tailored perfectly and the color is a good choice for spring. I, too, am not a fan of the hat, especially as it is pulled down over her brow. Perhaps, as mentioned, a hat is required but a brimless hat would be better. I love her pearl earrings, necklace and brooch.

  7. This refreshing shade of Lime green is exquisite color, suits the Empress well. Wonderful tailoring, the fit is divine. The single strand of pearls elevates the overall look, very elegant. Love the neutral color of shoes and clutch. The hat, this style I am not a fan of, regardless of my tastes the Empress looked beautiful

The color is nice. It is one of the colors - the other are pink, lilac, light blue - that are fashion in Europe this summer. The skirt is a bit too short, and then that odd hat. I cannot remember ladies wore this type of hats in the past. A bob would be nice with this suit. Even her clutch is in the same green as her ensemble. A little touch of up-to-date fashion is appearing at the Imperial family in Japan.

i think you're right, but it is, at this point, only little.
I wish the long blue dress she wore the other day had of been a pantsuit. i think, in the end, we all agreed that it was a long dress.
Had it been a pantsuit, well, that would have put the fashion law makers in the Palace into a spin.

  9. As most bloggers here should know by now, the Imperial Family has to observe a very strict dress code, right down to the colours, cut and jewellry. To hope otherwise is wishful thinking so it is probably wiser to concentrate on the impeccable dignity of the court and how sublimely it represents the Japanese
    people and culture.

  10. Thank you Anon 9:13. It is a pity that you have no name. Perhaps those you write anonymously, and there seem to be more and more, could think about names, it would makes exchanges amongst bloggers so much more easy and fluid.

Thanks Virginia. Actually I have chosen the nic-name "Anon 9:13" as my name. That's why I type it in every time at the end of my posts.
The 'Anonymous' that appears at the top is system generated because I don't want to register an e-mail address nor open an account here for cyber security reasons. I have too many other accounts and this would just be one more to manage.
"Anon 9:13" came about because someone referenced me as that from one of my posts about 2 years ago, and coincidentally 9:13 is just a day off from my birthday so I thought it was a lucky omen :)

I agree that she is bound to observe certain customs in her choice of clothes. Maybe this will change gradually over time. In the meantime though I’d like to see her wear a more flattering style of hat. I suspect she wears this one so low on her head to minimize the fact that she’s taller than her husband. Maybe she could achieve the same effect with a pillbox or bandeau? (V.M.)

As much as everyone comments on the women, the men are just as out dated with their suits, and especially their odd hair cuts.

Los trajes son todos iguales, solo cambia la textura y el color. La antigua emperatriz tenía más personalidad a la hora de vestir.
