On April 15, 2022, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a reception for friends and family of competitors of the Invictus Games in Nations Home at Zuiderpar in The Hague. The Invictus Games will take place from 16 to 22 April 2022 at the Zuiderpark in The Hague and are intended for military personnel and veterans who have been psychologically or physically injured while on duty.

حذفI have the impression that this Valentino design is meant to be baggy.
In fact, i've just noticed in the publicity above that it is referred to as
" VALENTINO oversized double-breasted twill blazer.
It appears in Valentino's spring and summer collection 2022.
It was first seen in a Paris fashion show in 2021.
So it's the "whim" of the designer to create it as a baggy, oversized ensemble that deosn't fit properly. I think the Duchess gives this weird, creative style a great touch of chic. Bravo madam.

I feel this trouser suit just swamps her. The overly long trousers and jacket might be a current trend but it doesn’t flatter anyone. Her hair styling however is great.
ردحذفThe Duchess looks really lovely here. A bit boxy and the blazer looks better on the model, but overall a very crisp, lovely look. The delicate gold jewelry is a very nice touch as well. And as always, a beautiful smile to top it all off. It's nice to see them happy and enjoying this time at such an important event.

حذفI much prefer this idea of a private visit and quality time spent with the people they really wanted to see, while possibly avoiding those that they might not have wanted to see. Families are complex and everyone has feelings, especially large ones like this one.

@c draper. Since they are not part of the Royal family anymore the king and queen of the Netherlands are not obliged to invite them at one of their palaces. It is Princess Margriet (King Willem-Alexander's aunt) who is involved in the Invictus Games.

ردحذفThis Valentino white suit is very disappointing, the idea is there but the cut, style and fit is unfortunate. The pants are too long and big. The jacket is boxy and large, the back view particularly highlights the ill fit. Maybe on a taller person you could get away with the style and design of the pantsuit. The model wearing the jeans, and gorgeous blouse under the jacket this looks fabulous, the open jacket looks on point and fine. The various items of gold jewellery were all very lovely pieces, but IMO less is more, more elegant. Love the bag.
ردحذفMeghan never wear big jewels. Her jewel choice is fine thin rings (except for her engagement ring and the one which belonged to Princess Diana) and thin bracelets and necklaces. No need to say less is more.

Normally I am a fan of the in general "less is more" style of Meghan. But this baggy jacket no. But let's not forget Harry and his initiative to start the Invictus Games, which gives a lot of attention to the handicapped soldiers who fought for our democracy and freedom.

If you look it up, you can see the original backside of the blazer, with *one* single seam in the middle, this seems to be how it was designed for an oversize blazer. But as you can see on the photo of Meghans back, there are two additional seams on both sides of the middle seam, so now there are three of them. This ruins the original design while not helping the bad fit for this woman. Oversize is fashionable, but it does not suit everybody and making oversize a bit less oversize is ... let's call it awkward. (-Ann)

I am a little late to this party, but this is my impression and opinion on this ensemble. This is a "power suit" from Valentino's Paris Fashion Week - Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show. With a slightly oversized silhouette, flow-y pants and a double-breasted jacket. As you can see from the photos above, the blazer was tailored to fit Meghan's frame and silhouette due to back darts, the original cut did NOT have darts. It is ill fitting and it does not compliment her figure.
