Letizia is beautiful enough to do the catwalk)): -Anna-
Why not 2 danish princes do it already.

@ 20:01. Even thought pretty women seem to be chosen, it is more the body type (like RL's)that matters. Look at the models from the older lady in front of the Queen to the background of the picture, In addition, of the models have their hair combed in a bun. The sameness of their look is deliberate to draw the eye to the garment. The first two with loose hair probably will 'walk' for another designer. The pretty models become famous when they represent specific fashion houses, are fortunate to work only with luxury brands, or promote beauty products.
The Danish princes should combine modeling with an education.

  6. I love it. Absolutely gorgeous and a big fashion statement.

  7. Fantastic dress, White agrees with her. The Spanish press says that it's a creation of her seamstress, since she is in a couture event she didn't want to show a bias towards any of the designers. Her hair is fabulous, although I personally don't care for such long hair, it's trendy lately.

  10. This is a gorgeous dress, I particularly like the sleeves and bodice. I don't like the double splits at the front. The red shoes and clutch lift the overall look. The Queen's seamstress has done a wonderful job, she is very talented.

So, you think that everybody that works in the industry should just stop? From designers to seamstresses, drivers, textile makers, sales people etc.,? So I guess if your job is not considered “ serious” we should all quit, by the way we shouldn’t indulge in something so frivolous as to read and even comment on a fashion blog. Some statements just make my head explode.

I think that political figures should not continue these engagements without acknowledgment of their status of heads of state?

Not even a nod of recognition here of the current situation. I have seen many royal fashions lately that at least incorporate a statement piece such as a brooch, a flower, a well chosen color scheme.

The statement is made. The entire setting is uncomfortably merchandised at best and cheap looking and a failure in my eyes. I don't care if you don't agree with me.

I think you are losing control.
You cannot think you may have some kind of attention from others writing such crazy comments.
      Stick to facts, please.
Letizia had already worn an Ukrainian embroidered blouse as you can see on a post on this blog.
I can't remember where but I have read that she was even criticized for doing that!
      What should she do, then?
The fashion industry is not only catwalks and clothes you may or may not like, it includes a lot of professionals and people who work behind the scenes.
This people do paid jobs and earn their livings by working there, so do you think that they can just stop working because of the current war?
Finally, stop stomping your feet when others do not agree with you and let people alone.

Wow her legs are tanned again in such a short time. I remember someone said the other day when she wore the black skirt and blouse that the contrast between the patent leather shoes and her white feet was not beautiful. (Maybe it is due to the flash light of the camera's).

  15. @ C, per you last sentence you don't care about whoever disagrees with you, stated like a child! Perhaps you haven't noticed about the wars and that have been going around the world....I don't see any royals making statements or wearing frivolous details in their clothing. I do remember Princess Mary being attacked on this blog for attending a meeting about this conflict.....your analysis is so frivolous that almost hurts, but then we live on a world where people think that wearing a color covers the pain of millions, the job is done, now we must get back to the palace.

@C@ 16:36 If you had read about the event, you would not put such a lack of knowledge on display on an international stage.
At any Fashion Week there is the catwalk setting at the 'front of the house' that we all see, then there is the behind the scenes setting where the clothes are prepped, and the models are groomed. Successful designers can rent more floorspace than smaller less know ones. The up and coming ones have tiny booths that can only hold a few garments because 1. they do not have the money to purchase larger floorspace, and 2. they have less looks to send down the catwalk or, are part of a group showings done by graduating students. To the ignorant crusher of others dreams, the setting may look 'cheap', but that is the simple explanation.
The queen chose to go behind the scenes, because that is where the real work is done, so as not to favor any particular designer(s), and to participate in a discussion about the state of the industry since the pandemic.
'Nodding' at the Ukrainian conflict is an impotent gesture at best. It does not make the refugees more comfortable. Try 'doing'...such as collecting blankets & masks (your pet peeve) to help those forced to live in close proximity to each other.
