That windy wonder why she did not put her arms in the sleeves even if she kept the coat unbuttoned.

She’s very elegant indeed. Yet seams to be down to earth in her attitude. I’m no great fan of the dark eyeshadow though.

I like this outfit on Mathilde; it's a nice green. But if it was such a windy day, why would she not just wear the coat properly instead of draping it around her shoulders?

Maybe she wanted to fly away??
Her hair has a decent wave :))and gives more glam, a bit 60's.
I like her look a lot, also a kind of sexiness more in a refined, elegant way.
Good on her, she looks lovely and I love the sleeves split detailing and dichromatic idea of grey-green.

This green looks so nice on Queen Mathilde in that first pic with her softer hairstyle and gold earrings. It looks nice with the grey (I would have not thought to put those 2 colors together. Love the skirt/mid length coat match- very ‘60’s. I would prefer a natural vs. the grey hosiery.
My only other quibble is please, please put on the coat. Draping this over the shoulders not only takes away from the overall styling (especially with this kind of outfit), it is also very distracting.

    1. Like the green outfit--very spring like. The windswept hair is surprisingly flattering, which is not something you can always say for royal ladies! As others have said, I wish she had worn the coat properly, especially since she's having to hang on to it to stop it blowing away.

Nothing to add to what you've written, Glo; totally agree with you.

  6. This is a splendid outfit, I love it. The skirt is the perfect length and fits well. The fully lined coat is divine. The grey sweater is a clever addition color wise, as are the grey accessories. Love the color of the shoes and clutch. This is a very well put together outfit.

I'm not sure about this one......I like the color on her but, the fabric is strange looking.

  8. She looks very chic. Love her outfit. Can't add anything not otherwise written, except, I was pleased to see King Philippe's right hand on her Queen Mathilde's arm (covered by the coat/cape). He is usually quite solemn and I enjoyed this show of affection.

Queen Mathilde and King Phillipe show a lot of affection to each other. It is not always seen on photo's we see on this blog. Yesterday evening they were present at the Spring concert in the Royal Palace in Brussels and they entered the concert room hand in hand. Queen Mathilde was dressed in a very beautiful new evening dress. I wonder if the photo's will be shown on this blog. I agree. The only thing I'd changed are the grey panty's. Normally queen Mathilde wears always natural panty's or black or light brown according the color of her outfit and the occasion but never grey.

Where can you see her underwear? And when have you seen Maxima's underwear?

The outfit overall is ok, though wearing the coat over her shoulders on a windy boat ride is a little odd, as are the choice of such high heeled shoes on the water.

It looks as if the sleeves are high set on the garment and look almost like a decoration, rather than wearable. I notice his arm around her waist, maybe to help hold the cape/coat on, or steady her on the windy day.

Not sure about the green gray colors. It is different, but not sure I personally like it.

I did notice in photo's of her at the Memorial Service for Queen Elizabeth's husband, her cheeks looked rather puffier than normal. Maybe it was makeup, or lighting, or has she started the dreaded face changing procedures. I sure hope not, she is lovely and looks as if she would age well. jj

I will just be all on my own here and say once again that I love her coat over her shoulders. Women have been wearing their coats this way for decades. By wearing her coat over her shoulders, we see more grey from her sweater, which I think is necessary to break up the print. Her outfit could have been improved more by wearing her sweater untucked to lengthen the appearance of her torso. ~d

    1. Well you are not the only one ! At least I see no reason for being so strongly against it, when weather conditions allow for that !
I find it rather flattering and allows to see the sweater. To me the whole lot is a good choice. Yes the coat breaks the print and yes untucked sweater could be fine or even better.
