Yesterday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, accompanied by Crown Princess Elisabeth, attended a meeting at the Royal Palace with a number of experts from academia about the situation in Ukraine. During the meeting, different reasons that led to this conflict and the impact of this crisis were discussed.
The experts were from The Free University of Brussels, Ghent University, The KU Leuven, The Catholic University of Louvain, Royal Military Academy and Egmont Institute.

Elisabeth looks very lovely in her well-tailored suit and simple white blouse. Wonderful to see she's more and more visible, I'm sure she learn a lot and becomes much wiser and down to earth.

Agree. Zed.
DeleteSeriously? And what was achieved? Absolutely nothing! Good grief ... - Ellie
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean ? Where you present at this meeting ?
DeleteEllie, what would you suggest the royal family to do instead in this crisis? Not being informed at all and just pick spring flowers?
DeleteHonestly if it was another royal family I’d agree with your statement but the Belgian royals have actually done something, they have opened up three residences for Ukrainians so I believe something was achieved at this meeting.
Delete@ Bob. The residences where already opened up before this meeting took place. Tomorrow they will be ready to install the refugees. In Belgium there are also other government, regional, town and private initiatives to give the refugees a place to stay. A bank account on which everybody can donate an amount of money has been opened for the refugees. Every refugee that has been registrated at arrival will receive a kind of salary to help him to set up a new life. Some of the refugees already found a new job in Belgium, etc...
DeleteAncora dibattiti?
ReplyDeletePenso che i motivi e l'andamento siano molto chiari.
Elisabeth looks professional in her navy blue suit, and very pretty. The color worn by Queen Mathilde is very flattering. As to what was achieved? I'd say obtaining knowledge is never in vain.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you Debra. Also well said about the importance of the knowledge.
DeleteI also agree with Debra on all points.
DeleteI always get a bit jealous when confronted with the easy way in which the Belgian royal family bring crownprincess Elisabeth in contact with the press and public appearances.
ReplyDeleteSuch a contrast with the Dutch RF who seem to”hide” their children.

Good look for Princess Elisabeth, appropriate for the meeting. Queen Mathilde always look good in light blue.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good initiative of the king and queen to give Princess Elisabeth the opportunity to assist at a meeting where she can learn about what is going on in the world today, especially in Europe. Whether we like it or not Europe is changing, first their was (and still is) the pandemic and now we are confronted with the situation in East Europe. One thing is for sure that the old Europe that we knew will not come back.
Quel bon choix de la part d'Elisabeth que ce costume Armani bien coupé, élégant avec ce chemisier blanc. C'est sûrement avec ses parents qu'elle va acquérir beaucoup de choses pour son avenir !
ReplyDeleteIf only I had been such a poised, elegant, self-contained young woman as the Duchess of Brabant.
ReplyDeleteIf only, if only.
