  1. Très à mon goût ce manteau en velours Bordeaux mais pas son chemisier à volants, ni sur les manches trop courtes ; porte t-elle des bottes avec cette longue jupe ?

The top looks like a gift bag. With the skirt the outfit looks like a choir uniform. With the jacket it looks like lounge wear in a private club. One of the worst outfits of any royal recently in my opinion.

I will also add that the sloppy way the coat was left during the speech and the choice of tight leather boots and the lounging aspect of the other attendee on the stage during the speech does not lend respect and seriousness to this very important issue. How very disappointing.

I do not see any lounging on the stage. She looks interested in what Sophie is saying and is trying to get a better view of her, in my opinion. I cannot agree with you about her clothes either. She is wearing leather, real or faux, leggings with booties, not thigh-high boots. When people attend an event of this nature, I feel certain the first thing on their minds is the subject of the talk, not the attire of the attendees.

I agree, Sophie's coat is not laid nicely, and I don't know if I have ever seen that from a royal before. At least it was Sophie who did it. She will be forgiven quickly without 70 comments about "breaking protocol". I think her skirt is probably nice, but based on past history, she is probably wearing it far too long. I agree with other comments about her blouse. It is ugly and has no relation to the skirt. Her coat has a relaxed vibe and she should be wearing it that way. It could be really cute dressed down. ~d

Anonymous, I agree with your perspective except that if your key note speaker is an international royal figure and the subject is sexual exploitation of children, shiny black knee high boots with leggings may not be the best fashion choice. Also I am convinced the view of the Countess would have been excellent if seated upright.

I am not in love with this outfit. The colour and the style of the silk blouse is not flattering it does not go well with the skirt and the coat looks like a chenille bathrobe. Very disappointing indeed.

Don't like the neckline of the blouse. The coat looks cheap although it probably isn't. The A-line of the skirt is not very elegant. We cannot see if she is wearing high boots or shoes. Overall not a very good look.

In the first picture the duchess looks angelic; indeed: choirboy, very flattering collar and colour.
The coat is of a nice colour too, but of very cheap and shabby fabric.
The skirt is difficult to see.
    The venue? Schoolaula or something?
    The cause: heartbreaking!

@C, I believe that the woman you are referring to is wearing leather leggings and booties, but how in the world, wearing tight boots, as you put it, is a sign of disrespect? What kind of equivalence is that? This woman may have different fashion ideas than you, but she is not doing anything for what she should be bashed, and she certainly is not lounging that is your characterization, but not a fact, she is attending a very charitable event.
I don’t like Sophie’s blouse at all, the coat could work with a much more casual pair of jeans, I do like the skirt, at least what I can see in the model, very classic A line and a very rich color.

  8. Once again it is a no from me for a Victoria Beckham design. I really dont like the style, fit or material.

  9. I'm in a minority here. but I like the outfit overall. I think the colour combination is good and while I'm not overly taken by the collar of the blouse, it's okay. Don't like the coat very much--it reminds me of a dressing gown my father used to wear!! I think Sophie herself looks great with her styled like this.

  10. I'm trying hard to like this ensemble but... The blouse is OK--the pie crust neckline would be better had the blouse not had all the pin tucks following the collar down the blouse; a plain blouse would have made the whole thing look less like some sort of drawstring. The skirt is hard to see on Sophie but I would bet it is too long as all of her midi skirts/dresses are too long. The color seems nice based on the model photos. But that coat!!! It does indeed look like a cheneille bathrobe --one of my aunts owned a purple cheneille bathrobe that looks way too much like this coat I hope Sophie got it as a loan because that way we won't see it again).

  11. I do like the blouse but feel it's the wrong colour for the CoW and had rather seen it combined with a pencil skirt. As another reader wrote, hardly ever a 'yes' for me when it comes to a VB design. The skirt is nice, but not with a shiny blouse like this.

  12. I looked at this outfit a few times and really don’t dislike the skirt and top combination but that coat is awful.. Looks like a bathrobe on the model and not better on Sophie. The color is nice though and I bet it is really expensive but I would not wear it ..
