On September 1, 2021, the Sami Parliament's solemn opening of the eighth term took place in Lycksele - or Liksjuo as it is called in Ume Sami, and was attended by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. On May 16, the Sami people cast their votes for the people they want to see as their elected representatives. These 31 members gathered in the opening to start the eighth term of the Parliament.

The Sami Parliament is both an elected parliament and a State agency. The tasks of the Parliament are regulated by the Swedish Sami Parliament Act. In 1977, the Swedish Riksdag (Parliament) recognized the Sami as an indigenous people in Sweden.

    What a beautiful outfit. Gorgeous shade of blue. The Princess looks brilliant in such a strong colour, a great improvement on the pastels and pales she's worn over the summer. Lovely

      Hellen that's what I was wondering - are the Sami getting more recognition in Sweden now? I know at one time they were not being treated very well.

    Who said fashion site are superfluous? And only for those who have nothing better to do! I beg to differ. So many traditional events that draw more attention to history than sartorial choices. Nothing to comment on this outfit but to say such remarkable traditions. Lovely in every single way
