On July 21, 2021, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Crown Princess Elisabeth, Princess Eleonore, Prince Gabriel and Prince Emmanuel attended Te Deums held on the occasion of the National Day 2021 at Saint Michael's and Saint Gudula's Cathedral in Brussels. Belgium’s National Day is usually celebrated with a Te Deum and a military parade.
In the afternoon, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel, Princess Eleonore, Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent, Princess Delphine and Mr. Jim O'Hare attended the National Day Ceremony at the Palace Square. Princess Délphine took part in the celebration for the first time, after having been recognised as King Albert’s daughter in October 2020. Princess Elisabeth attended the military parade with the rest of her Belgium Military Academy classmates.
They all look stunning! Mathilde looks feminine in this capedress. Usually I am not a fan of those, but this one works. The men look handsome, and Eleonor is very age-appropriately dressed. But Elisabeth: what a handsome lady! Definitely not afraid to stand out in red, with a split, with fabulous earrings as well!

ردحذفI find Elisabeth's dress excellent in style and colour except for the slit that I do not like at all. Mathilde; so much effort in colours and accessories, and a bad result. The colour is too pale; the green would have been better. A thin, clingy fabric does nothing for her body. She probably saw the dress on a model similar to the one in the picture, but she is about 30 years older, a mother of 4 and has more body weight. The stiletto heels are bad, and it may be she has balancing problems on the cobbles, because she has got her legs entangled so that she could not possibly bring the right leg in front of the left without stepping sideways first. - Ellie
ردحذفWhat strange comments about Mathilde Re the dress, my initial thought was very much "mother of the bride" territory; it's entirely suitable for someone her age. As for her shoes and legs, if you are talking about the last pic, she appears to have just got out of the car and stepping round it--don't see any sign of the shoe getting caught. Shoes look gorgeous.
حذف@Annie M In a previous post, Ellie decided that she would call out high heels each time she saw them, if I remember correctly. She has a personal issue with high heels and the torture they inflict and the fact that women are slaves to them. I also believe that she feels they make the leg look worse, not better. I am sure she will jump in if I have paraphrased incorrectly. I can't be bothered to go back to see what she has written. I completely agree with you. She is not having any trouble walking, she is simply going around the car. Ellie only sees what she thinks supports her position. Several people have argued with her, but she has decided this is the hill she wants to die on. ~d

حذفOkay, it's Natan, but I think this is a wonderful dress for Queen Mathilde. No waist, great length, billowing shape. It looks fantastic. My one tiny wish is that she had worn dark green shoes to match the bag (but I have never lost my love of matching shoes and bags) Princess Eleanore looks just fantastic in the mint green dress and Crown Princess Elisabeth looks amazing in this bright outfit. I love the neckline of the dress, front and back and the fun earrings. With the shoes, which I love, I would suggest a slightly longer skirt but a very minor point. Great to see her wearing a hat The men look good too and Prince Emmanuel suddenly appears to have gained inches in height and seems as tall as his father. Lovely family.
ردحذفWhat an interesting group, fashion-wise. Eleonore--young teen perfection. The neckline is beautifully embellished. Elisabeth--LOVE her choice in everything but her earrings. I think the earrings are too casual for such a formal dress. But her hat is the best of the day and the details on her dress are so elegant. Mathilde--floaty, garden party perfect. Still trying to like the headband "hat" choices that seem to be her current favorite. Her earrings are gorgeous! I wonder how the green color shown on the model would have looked--it is also very pretty. Astrid--bravo on her uniform! Finally, Delphine--a resounding NO. Sad that Claire was not in attendance.

حذفI think that Mathilde's dress is a success, it was well adapted to her body shape, colors are nice, as well as the accessories. She was quite elegant and assumed her choice to wear the high heels. They enhanced the whole outfit, even if a bit a challenge on cobbles.
ردحذفElisabeth's dress is lovely as well; a bit more daring which is a plus, she can afford that. Eleonore's dress is more discrete but quite age-appropriate. Men were first class.
The Queen's outfit is ultra feminine and stylish. She looks so beautiful in it. The daughter looks ok, but darker shoes without the ties around the ankles would have looked better, and no slit in the skirt. Not a fan of the yellow earrings either. She is a lovely young woman, her style will evolve.

The 13th photo: The woman in the odd dress has cartoon shaped shoes that say 'look at me' I'm new to this crowd. (Yes, I know its the new one to the family, but lets face it, the dress, hat and shoes are just too much for the occasion). jj

ردحذفElisabeth's dress is not as youthful as she is and it doesn't seem to fit well. It looks like one of her mothers dresses that has been adjusted unsuccessfully to fit her.
Mathilde's dress would have been better for her without the cape and with some lighter sleeves.
Delphine's fabric print coupled with her hat looks like she should be marching in the parade.

Sorry, the only well dressed lady here is the youngest daughter in the pale green dress in my humble opinion. Mathildes hair and head-dress look good, but the dress does her no favours, too pale and flimsy and it does not flatter her figure, and she does not need the stilettos since he is so tall.

ردحذفPeople should perhaps take into account that Princess Delphine is a reknown artist, and that clearly reflects in her way of dressing. Contrary to most other opinions I like Queen Mathilde's dress and all, and also The Duchess of Brabant's outfit (perhaps sans earrings, they slightly clash with the rest). Great family outing altogether!

ردحذفI like seeing Mathilde in a dress without a defined waist and hope she will explore more options in this direction. I think a more substantial fabric and a more saturated color would work better for her. The cape feels very "Natan" on this dress, which may be why she chose it. Mathilde disappears in these colors, which may be deliberate, so Elisabeth can stand out more. Elisabeth looks beautiful. I really like seeing her style evolving. I think she is at a difficult age where she still wants to embrace her youth while acknowledging she is a woman. The more open back, shorter length and slit in the skirt all speak to her youth. The fabric, neckline, and hat says she is a woman. Good for her for remembering to inject a little personality into her outfit with the earrings and shoes. Speaking of personality...Delphine! This outfit says Delphine from top to bottom. If it was on any other royal, it would be much more cringy. The fact that it is on Delphine makes let it go. She is an artist and a recent royal and is living her authentic life. I admire her for not conforming, especially after the way she was treated by her "father" for so many years. That being said, wow! This is something else! I usually try to think of little ways the outfit could be improved, from my point of view, such as a more elegant shoe, but not in this case. The shoes fit the dress and hat. She is her own work of art. I am thrilled that she was included. ~d

Delphine has a special style. I REALLY like the dress, it's shape and lenght and the pattern is fresh, unusual but nice and cool, I'm fine with the dress :-)
but.. together with beret and facemaks in the same pattern it is tooooo much, this doesn't look nice. Please skip the beret completly, it doesn't fit this beautiful woman good and take another kind of facemask.
The shoes are not that bad on their own. But they don't fit this dress. Another kind of shoes in a more discreet colour would do more to support the nice dress.
Elisabeth – I adore the dress and the hat and earrings that go with it. She looks simply stunning. Enough said.

Much like her sister, she has lovely hair, which could have been accentuated with a nice headband.
