On Tuesday 20 April, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands paid a working visit to cleaning company CSU in Uden, the winner of the King Willem I Prize 2020 in the Large Business category. CSU is active in the cleaning industry from eleven offices nationwide and employs more than fifteen thousand employees.
The company has offices in Uden, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Barendrecht, Eindhoven, Houten and The Hague and provides diversified commercial services. During the visit, Queen Máxima was given a tour of the company building. The Queen also received information on CSU's innovation initiatives, such as training cleaners through virtual reality.
Oh dear, the top has shrunk. The person in charge of her laundry did it again..... her clothes have always been shrunk a second time around, pulling on the wrong places and wrinkling.

Nice trousers, but an ill-fitting top - it´s too tight across the bust for the draping to fall naturally.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteIt os not tight; it is purposely cut that way.
DeleteSay what you will about Queen Maxima's fashion, but it just occurred to me that--unlike the queens from other countries--her husband virtually never accompanies her to meetings, events or on charitable video contacts. Maxima seems to be the only "working" member of the Dutch royal family. DIQ
ReplyDeleteI follow his IG account. He is as busy or even more than she is.
DeleteThis site doesn't focus on male fashion when the husbands are doing events on their own, so you shouldn't think that they aren't doing anything. Same has been said about Fredrik and Haakon, but they do a lot.
Besides, the events Maxima leads do not require her husband to attend. When it is a national or patriotic visit/event, they attend together and sometimes with their children.

It's true now that you points it out.
DeleteOh dear! Oh dear! It could all have been so beautiful if whoever created it had used an excellent tailor/fitter/ seamstress or sewer to tackle the task.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the fit it really is very elegant with very nice bracelet, handbag and mask. (I am not mad about the object on the collar.)
My list of complaints:
The whole thing is just too tight from just above the bust to the top of her thighs.
The vertical dart ends over the bust point instead of just under it.
The trousers are folding and wrinkling just under her seat and further down the leg which indicates an incorrect centre back seam too tight in places and not enough fabric in other places.
The trousers have not been shaped at the hem so that they are dusting the floor free of charge for the cleaning company.
Other than this I love what she looks like.
At the first glance the humongous brooch looks like a bunch of cockroaches!
ReplyDeleteShe has worn gigantic insect brooches in the past (as have other royal ladies); I say "no thanks". Those are pretty chunky bracelets she's wearing. I like the black accents, it's a nice two-toned outfit (except for the tight top). ~Laurel~
DeleteI am a fan of this lady - attitude, workload and engagement with people....nice to see her out & about. But yes the top is too small, draping looks all wrong. However on the plus side she keeps us interested with her fashion choices! I for one look forward to seeing what she wears next time...JP
ReplyDeletewhat a mess, head (hair) to toe: does she have a mirror or look in it before leaving the house? Sad, because she is naturally beautiful, and intelligent. clar
ReplyDeleteI like that Maxima brings her fun side with the bold jewellery ! But, I wish she'd invest in a hotbrush, something she can run through her hair to give it some shape and style.
ReplyDeleteIs the top supposed to be so tight across the bust ? It seems to sit nicely around the bottom half. Ana
Máxima's tops are always too tight. Why do women do this? It flattens your boobs & actually makes them look smaller. Being stuffed into a too-tight top (or dress) can seem that you've gained weight & also exaggerates your bottom (like that side shot). Must be uncomfortable & constricting.
ReplyDeleteSame issue with Queen Mathilde, who is more pear-shaped. Perhaps she fears that looser tops would make her look bigger all over.
A balanced look is what we strive for.

I agree with the above comments. I am just going to come out and say what all of you were too polite to say out loud. Maxima has gained some weight and needs to commit to losing some weight (unlikely), or accept her new size and shape and start replacing these clothes that do not fit her anymore. She would be more comfortable, and would certainly look better. Had this fit, this would have been one of her better outfits. I don't mind the jewelry since the clothes provide such a clean palette. I love her tank watch, a true classic. The bracelets she has stacked with the watch are unnecessary and overkill with the two statement bracelets on the other wrist. Earrings, brooch and bracelets are too much all worn together, but that is Maxima. A few of the above comments gave me a giggle. It was much appreciated! ~d
ReplyDeleteI really don´t think that she has gained weight. In fact, judging by her trousers, she looks to be in good shape. I think it´s really just an ill-fitting top.
Delete(I wouldn´t mind if whatever I gained went exclusively into my bust, but sadly it never does and instead goes right to the hips. Haha)
You are correct, D. She had definitely gained weight and so an adjustment in clothes would be wise. I also agree with most of the comments regarding her jewelry. The large black thing on her chest is quite bad and the two large, black bracelets are just ugly. These trousers and sweater could have looked so much better with proper fit and pretty jewelry.

Anonymous-d, your comment made me smile, but, to be honest, Maxima’s clothes have always been too tight,

First reaction when I saw this ill-fitting ensemble: O dear...
ReplyDeleteAnd the enormous accessories... Just no, Maxima. Sorry
The Dutch Royals, one of the richest royals, are in many cases, sartorial disasters. They need help.
ReplyDeleteBut they both look wonderful during state occasions, weddings, ceremonies...
Hi Kteach, would you mind to explain in what cases the Dutch royals are such sartorial disasters and need help?
DeleteYou've made me very curious now!
She could try getting rid of some of that bling. Mary I
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the plastic bunch of grapes (?) brooch, but I love her Cartier watch and the cabochon bracelet she often wears.
ReplyDeleteThis top is too small, I think – looks tight on the bust and under the armpits so the draping above doesn't fall gracefully. Also I don't love beige on blondes - it's all a bit blah. But Maxima's radiance, energy and good nature just shines out of her - she's very attractive, I think.
Plastic bunch of grapes 😂😂😂
DeleteGood one!! 👌🏻
I had thought of olives until I read Ana Katarina's description--cockroaches! Now that is all I can see. ~d
