On December 18, 2020, The Kingdom of Bhutan celebrated its 113th National Day. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck addressed his people via a telecast due to the pandemic. The King’s speech and other important ceremonies of the national day were all televised. Every year, during National Day celebrations, thousands of Bhutanese people get together with the Royal family, but the pandemic made that impossible this year.

  1. Quand le moral est en berne, rien de tel que de voir toutes ces images très colorées, lumineuses ; le petit prince Ugyen Wangchuck devient de plus en plus craquant comme son frère !

  5. One would think that all of the patterns and colors would clash, but they do not. They are extraordinarily beautiful. The colorful beads add to the effect. The queen is one of the most beautiful royals in the world (IMO). I had to smile when I saw the king carrying his younger son. Good job, your majesty!

  8. What a lovely family and so colourful. Just a question out of curiosity.... Do they wear these clothes on a daily basis or only when they are out in public? sorry I am new to following this family.

I have seen photos of them dressed in this same style - the tunic, the shawl, the boots - for everyday work, but less formal and less colourful. I've also seen photos of them both in everyday western clothes. I also recall one awesome photo of Queen Jetsun Pema wearing either a Chanel or a Louis Vuitton outfit when she was on a private visit to either Paris or London. I can't remember the details now. She looked smart and very beautiful but chose to blend in with her friends or family whoever she was with. Very humble family.

Such a rich, deeply spiritual culture. I love to see how much the Bhutanese royal family is anchored in tradition. They seem so young yet so profoundly at peace with their destiny. Wonderful to see.
