On October 31, 2020, Queen Margrethe II attended the gala final of The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition (LMISC) at House of Music (Musikkens Hus) in Aalborg. The winner of The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition 2020 was Margrethe Fredheim from Norway. Queen Margrethe is patron of The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition.
The purpose of the competition is to honor the Danish Wagner singer Lauritz Melchior, to find new, young singers who have a special interest in singing pieces of music by composer Richard Wagner and to place Aalborg, Musikkens Hus and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra on the musical world. The competition was established by the esteemed Wagner singer Poul Elming, and was held for the first time in 2010.
Doesn't she look grand? A very elegant outfit for this lovely lady.

Très élégante dans ces couleurs noire et prune-satiné qui vont à merveille à la reine ; ce collier à quatre rangs de perles a été judicieusement choisi !
ReplyDeleteIntelligent, chic and creative.
ReplyDeleteA perfect model for a queen
who leads by example. Smart, smart, smart!
Wow, Lauritz Melchior, one of my mother's favorite singers; the great tenor whose singing brought Adolf Hitler to tears.
ReplyDeleteQueen Margrethe looks good, I like her outfit but not the length... or the shoes.

I agree about the length of the skirt and the shoes, but at her age I think she gets a pass. She is probably too stuck in her ways at this point. Maybe she could change out her shiny stockings...
DeleteI think the shoes are definitely a case of necessity of comfort over style, and I have no problem with that for this elegant lady. The rest of her outfit is fantastic. I love the multiple short strands of pearls at her throat.

Yes, definitely the stockings, perhaps that's what threw me off with the shoes. Dark stockings with those shoes would tie the whole outfit together; there's that light break between skirt & shoes that doesn't look very good. ~Laurel~
