  3. I love, love, love the tuxedo jacket but styling could be better. She needs to ditch the belt and button the jacket. The flat top worn underneath the jacket falls a little flat. A top in a different color or fabric would pop more.

  6. Very nice. I really like the Duchess of Cambridge in more serious business attire. This particular Alexander McQueen blazer is very popular amongst other royals as well.

  8. Superb!! she rarely wears black, but it goes to show that when you are an elegant woman, black is your friend. Love the belt bringing light into the outfit. Earrings are gorgeous and the hair is lustrous and healthy

  9. Very pretty outfit and very similar to the outfit Meghan wore last year (down to square neck shirt). The same outfit the British tabloids unfortunately spent too much time ripping apart (aghast that Meghan was wearing pants). Both ladies looked wonderful and a shame one gets kudos and the other one attacked.

    7. I recalled that Meghan got a lot of praise for her outfit in most of the press, as it was considered bold and striking. The more conservative press questioned its appropriateness for the event, which is always an important consideration when we dress, but most particularly for members of a royal family. I don't think her choice of outfit was unfairly questioned in most outlets, but when it was it was not to say she didn't look good in it or that the outfit was unattractive. The question was whether people thought it was the appropriate choice for the occasion. I personally thought Meghan's choice was lovely but perhaps not the right note to strike for the event in question. But she looked terrific. These are subtle considerations but they matter as we think of fashion. Here is a similar outfit, not worn at a major event when its appropriateness is likely to be questioned, slightly "dressier" than the occasion would demand but using the fancier notes to bring attention to a more elegant event to come. I really don't think that one is singled out for praise and the other one for scorn for wearing a similar outfit. I think most people are reacting contextually and finding that perhaps one version of the outfit fit the circumstances of its wearing better than the other, in their own opinion.

  10. Catherine looks gorgeous, and her outfit would too were it not for the exaggeratedly pointy, upturned shoulders on the jacket. Initially I thought they must be the result of inexplicably poor tailoring, but clearly -- judging from the photos of the model -- they are meant to look that way. It's a weirdly futuristic effect, like something out of a science fiction movie. Gave me an unsettling flashback to the shoulders on Queen Maxima's coronation cape, the one jarring note in an otherwise absolutely beautiful coronation ensemble. That was quite a while back now, though, so I thought the Queen of Outer Space look hadn't (and wouldn't) become a thing. Otoh, Catherine is sometimes (wrongly, imo) accused of not being adventurous enough in her attire, so if the pointy shoulders tick the "fashion forward" box, I guess I can be happy for her.

  15. The Duchess of Cambridge exudes class and elegance effortlessly.
Her jacket looks the same as the one P.SS Mary wore in the latest post on this site.
I think the belt adds a more ' professional, business- like 'note to the whole outfit.
    Her hair is glowing.
    A beautiful and committed lady.

Also, please don't pit the two women against each other. It's very tiresome already.

    1. I would say the issue is with the press more than anything. They have quite a bit of influence over what people think. We are bombarded with stories, true or not, and people are willing to believe what they read. Regarding the tux, upthread it was mentioned that Kate has been criticized as well. I agree with you that she looks stunning, so it just goes to show you how wrong they can be.
