    Deux beaux enfants.
    Toujours fusionnels.

No, I do not think it is only for striking a pose imposed by their mum.
Don' t you see how natural are they?
I do not think so maybe because I am not a cynical and negative person and have children.
I know their behaviour and how sweet and genuine they can be without acting a role or obey their parents' orders.
You seem to be extremely surprised ( why all these question marks?)
I guess you have no children.
You could sign your comment and make yourself recognizable.
      Best regards.

I think Jacques greatly resembles his grandfather Prince Ranier, though he does of course have his mother’s coloring

    2. Yep, to me he looks like his mum. But kid's looks have a funny habit of changing as they get older.

A pleasure to see these pretty children . Jacque's looks have changed, now he resembles Prince Albert much more than Princess Charlene and the little sunshine the other way round. And what is more, infact is that the twins both resemble (beyond der mommy) the late Princes Grace.

  6. The kids are so cute, but they are frequently dressed in outfits that play to gender stereotypes. This normally would not bother me, but in this case it always reminds me of the fact that patriarchal laws have deprived the "girly" girl of what should have been her right to be the crown princess, as she was born first. She's been sidelined as a girl, and I wonder whether she's always dressed in such a girly way to justify an unfair law, since at this age they don't dress themselves. I don't want to sound political, since that is not my intent, just meditating on the ways in which fashion--even when deployed on children--naturalizes the effects of laws that marginalize women. I often feel the same way when looking at the very strict dress code to which the female members of the Japanese royal family are constrained.

Do you also oppose that the Spanish princesses are dressed as girls? And by the way, even the Spanish Constitution "prefers" sons. King Felipe has two elder sisters.
Returning to Monaco: They are twins, Gabriella is two (2) minutes older than Jacques - at least that was told by the media.
And even though Britain has revised the succession order placing Charlotte before Louis, Charlotte wears dresses and Louis jeans, not vice versa.
In Belgium at present crown princess Elisabeth wears army clothes.
Perhaps we outsiders could let them choose by themselves?

@Lisa Paris: I can't share your views on the fashion aspect compensating for the patriarchal laws, though you make your point clearly and very well too; However I do agree that these patriarchal rules seem out of place in todays world.
All I can say is that we are living in changing times, and I hope that the change will soon extend to these situations, as they already have in some monarchies.

    3. I agree with Lisa Paris. I can't understand how it is possible in the year 2014 that the firstborn daughter will not be queen.
After all what is taking place in Belgium with the new princess Delphine I wonder what would happen if Alberts elder daughter Jazmin fought for her rights as Delphine did.
That has nothing to do with the fact that Jaques and Gabriella are too cute!

I would agree that the way women in the Japanese Imperial Family dress is a bit ridiculous at times, particularly for the young princesses. They do not allow any individualism. I do have great respect for tradition and history. That being said, for an empire that is dwindling away before our very eyes, they should be considering some compromises to save this ancient empire. They give these princess no incentives to stay. The appropriate prospects for marriage are very limited, so they essentially leave their families and title behind to marry for love. While in the family, they are forced to dress like old ladies. All this, knowing that they will never assume the throne is a lot to ask for a sense over duty.

@Lisa Regarding Gabriella, don't be sure that she doesn't have a say in what she wears. She is old enough to voice her opinions. Jacques as well. I am sure they were told they couldn't dress in their favorite super hero costumes to attend the ballet, but had a choice of appropriate clothes. I happen to like children in gender appropriate clothing. I don't read anything into it. It is time that birth order dictates the line of succession the world over. I do have high hopes that we will get there sooner than later.

    Where are Gabriella's curls?

    ردحذف
    الردود
    1. Yes, I too have noticed that the curls have gone. I can’t imagine that her hair is being artificially straightened — or that her hair used to be set and styled in curls every day — so this is indeed a puzzler. (Not that it matters, as long as her hair is as nature intended.)

      حذف
    2. I can’t claim to know for sure when it comes to Gabriella, but my three children all had curls that disappeared over time, all by themselves. So I would not read too much into her hair style.

Both kids are very cute. And I just love the connection they seem to have!

Until you actually go to Hollywood and experience it for yourself, you should not use that word to describe what you are seeing. You have a very different concept of Hollywood than what it actually is. Comments like this just tell me you read too many tabloids.

  11. I should explain--given some of the responses-- that I didn't mean that boys should be dressed as girls or girls as boys. I was making a point about style, about the overly girlish clothes Gabriella is made to wear (all bows and tulle and frills--all very princessy) and how they could be read as naturalizing her being female and therefore not a "natural" crown princess. I'm not advocating revolutionary gender-bending outfits for royal children or that the twins should be trading clothes. And I do indeed think that in all monarchies worldwide the first-born child should be the heir to the throne (or dukedom, or earldom, or any other royal or aristocratic title) regardless of gender.

    1. Lisa, I get what you mean. I'm curious too. It's interesting because their mother, Princess Charlene doesn't seem to be a girly girl or extremely gender conforming (in the traditional sense).

You lost me at "made to wear". A lot of little girls love to dress like this. They grow out of it eventually. She is not a crown princess by the way. And she may not be aware she is a princess at this point. Lady Louise wasn't aware her grandmother was the Queen until children at school started telling her, and she still didn't understand. William has made it clear that George will be eased into the information.

    3. As I said before, I totally agree with you, Lisa.

Thanks again Lisa Paris. As I stated before I don't think that the ruffles and frills are to compensate for G not being a successor princess, though I respect your well proposed opinion. Lots of little girls that age like to dress like that, largely due to things they watch from Disney and others. ..I am surrounded by kids like this almost on a daily basis.
Also, like many others I don't think that these young kiddies know anything about their future roles, nor should they until 'much later' (intentionally vague) so for now they can just grow as children. Let's hope the rules change by the time they are ready to learn about what their roles will be. Could be very different than what it might look like now.

    5. My daughter is five, and I swear that when you give her a choice, she will ALWAYS go for the super-girly, glittery, pink, ballet-princessy stuff. Maybe Gabriella is the same and just likes wearing this kind of clothing - I realize that the parents may decide what the children wear, but if I were in their place, I would at least try to give my child a choice of clothing he or she will like. Who wants a pouty, unhappy kid in an official photo?

Years ago Albert of Monaco recognized Jazmin as his daughter and her family name is Grimaldi. So the situation is not the same as with Delphine in Belgium.
As to the succession: The Monaco Constitution states that the right of succession is limited to the monarch's children born in marriage.

Charlene can be dazzling, glamorous and sometimes breathtakingly beautiful when dressed up. But much less so (in my opinion), when dressed down casually. And in a very similar way, I frequently don't really like the way the twins are dressed, not really because girly or boyish, just because ... without wanting to be "cruel", it is not pleasing to my eye. - As for cuddling each other, one can see it frequently on their photos, they seem to do it really spontaneously, just google their pics together. (-Ann.)

To the ham that called it "posing"- obviously, their mother was taking their picture, do u call it "posing" when u take a picture of ur children, friends, family! HELLO! Mommy's going to take your picture, smile! 🤦🏼‍♀️
