On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise virtual appearance on America’s Got Talent to support the finalist Archie Williams who was wrongly imprisoned for 36 years until his release last year. The Duchess recorded a supportive video message for contestant Archie Williams.

In her message, the Duchess said the following: "Hi Archie, I just wanted to let you know that we’ve been so moved by your story and we’ve been cheering you on every week, and it’s not just because we’re partial to the name. So, a very special message to you — I will probably be saying all my life, but on this night it is specifically for you — Archie, we are proud of you, and we are rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do. We’re in your corner! Have a good night"

  1. Cette chemise est d'une couleur beige qui va à merveille à la duchesse ; choix judicieux que de l'avoir associée à un pantalon en cuir noir ; dommage, je vois mal ses bijoux !

  2. Sad to say, but this is hardly newsworthy for this blog. On the fashion side, leather pants? Sloppy shirt and couch along with the messy hair do not bode well, though her PR firm is in top form, pushing their agenda and faces in all types of media, though they wanted a private life.

    2. There is no hate, that is a term throw around in today's society without concern. I made honest remarks about the photo's I saw presented. It is my opinion, just as I respect that you have yours. Thanks for the comments. :) PS Leather type pants do not look good on anyone.

    3. @Anon 10:52 I beg to differ. I would not wear mine if they didn't look good on me. I can't see anything sloppy about her shirt or hair. What is wrong with her sofa? How did that get brought into this?

    1. Yes! Queen Letizia is another adventurous dresser who wears leather skinnies too (to official engagements nonetheless)! They both have figures that are very flattering for leather pants. It will be interesting to see the DoS put her hair down a little in her new role.

  6. I love camel and black together. I find it more pleasing together than the tobacco and black she wore the other day. I like the mix of fabrics - silk and leather. I wish we saw her standing up so we could see the cut of her pants. Her make-up is pretty. I love her hair up like this. The loose pieces frame her face nicely.
Even knowing the contestant's (Archie) back story, I was a little surprised to see Meghan make an appearance on this show. Just trying to understand how it fits in the new path they are carving out for themselves.

  7. What a lovely message! While I'm not really a fan of leather pants, the blouse, make-up and hair look great.

It's really great to see that the Duke and Duchess are successfully charting a new course for themselves. They're essentially doing exactly what they set out for and are able to do lovely gestures like this and their charitable endeavors -- on their terms and not terms dictated to them by the British media because they were working royals.

Fashion-wise, the Duchess seems to be working out a casually elegant style. And it's great that she still supports British designers!

  8. Don't like the colour, don't like this - what do you call it, bangs? and I don't like the book title shouting "WOMEN" in the background ("hey, by the way, I am empowering women!"). The occasion is simply not noteworthy. Why? Because: The occasion itself, the person coming free, is noteworthy and we read about it in the papers. But it just does not play any role if some celebrity is "moved" about it. This is not active support and no charity, namely, this had happened without her being involved in it in any mentionable way. So I think this was just for self-promotion purposes, I just cannot see who else she might support with this appearance. - I am also not really interested in non-royal non-news in a royal fashion blog.

    1. How about some fun: Because I have almost zero French language in my list of accomplishments I always copy and paste the French or German comments into Google Translate. Its far from perfect but I usually get the gist of what has been said. Until now resulting in fits of giggles. "je pensais les canapés étaient faits avec des dents de requin." was translated as "I thought the canapes were made with shark teeth" Since I cannot picture the DoS enjoying a snack of sharks teeth and my first though was there must be something in the photo that is pointed or it is the couch, I tried to work out what she meant. I have no idea what the -les canapés- in this instance is and since I can only find cocktail snack on Google. I finally think she means. "I thought the trousers were made of sharkskin. Sharkskin for those who are not familia with it, is a type of fabric.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what is actually there?

Although I do not agree with you on a few points, I much respect your honest opinion .
Yes, you hit the mark: there is no hate in saying what one really thinks about a public figure, whether Royal or not.
Let me only say my view about leather trousers: I would not have expected Meghan to wear this item, just because she is so involved in animal issues.
I share with Meghan this same concern and I wear ecoleather trousers.
Sorry ,I do not agree when you say that leather( ecoleather) trousers are not good on anyone.
It much depends on one' s buiding and physical features.
Yes, true, skinny trousers may not look good on everyone, but they can look lovely on many women.

  18. I would just like to ask you to observe carefully Pic 1 & 2 : the buttons of the shirt are on the other side of the same outfit! Probably evidence of the strong photoshop work ... and the smile is different. And it looks as if there were a dirty spot on her shirt, or something wrong. For the rest I have decided no longer to comment on Meghan.

    2. @Mary T. Excellent observation. The position of every thing in the picture has moved from left to right like a mirror image. The print on the books is backward suggesting that the film is flipped not photoshopped. This is why it is always best to take everything you see and read with a grain of salt.
You get the eagle eyes award for today. :) July.

    3. My god, are you familiar with the concept of a mirror image...similar to what happens when you look at yourself...in a mirror?

Not everything is a conspiracy theory. And you certainly don't even need photoshop to do so. I can flip my pictured in the left-to-right orientation on my phone too. I don't know how old/out of touch with technology the commentators on here are, but really, it's not a conspiracy theory, dark arts, or whatever else. It's just flipping an image. I don't know the reasoning for doing so. I don't know if the image was reverse in between media shares, but you don't "photoshop" and image to give exactly everything in the image the opposite orientation. It's just not how it's done and your media person is probably fleecing you if you do. The Duchess' smile looks that way because you're not use to seeing her face flipped.

      Farewell.

    4. MaryT, picture is flipped, a common occurrence when copying pictures I don’t see what the big deal is, it happens all the time. I truly don’t see any conspiracy lurking . Yes photoshopping is used frequently from the pictures of my ancient aunt in FB ( that now looks 35 😂) to the celebrities in Instagram and every magazine, but surely we must agree that Meghan didn’t create that tendency... or did she???
I commend you for not commenting further on people that don’t interest you, wise decision.
      Best to you
      Sandra

    5. Like Sandra said an image being flipped is a common occurrence when copying photos. There is non of the tell-tale evidence of photoshopping. The books is the background would look warped or manipulated which they don't. Plus that stain you pointed out Mary T. would be one of the first things edited out.

  19. *to be completely correct, I could never fully grasp the concept of how standing in front of the mirror distorts the image. I believe it's actually front-to-back rather than left-to-right. But the point is, it's a mirror image and "photoshop" is a very specific tool that can distort pictures. Simply flipping an image isn't "photoshop."

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @ Anna. You are correct. Photoshopping is not used for this purpose, and it is very expensive for this kind of detail.
The moving images are provided for comparison.
It is clearly a mirror image , but followers will follow. July

  20. @ MaryT, OMG!! Thanks for giving us precise steps about how to look at a flipped picture,
Oh the horror! How in the world is this relevant? It has nothing to do with photoshopping .Perhaps you are pointing out that there is a conspiracy around Meghan and this blog is part of it , and their objective is to make her look good by flipping a picture.. Let’s hope that is not the case, don’t know if I will be able to sleep tonight.

  22. I don´t like her outfit. Beige is such a non-colour and really only works as a neutral with a stronger colour. For a blouse, it´s the worst colour I can think of. At least her version of the blouse doesn´t have the overly pointy collar.
I cannot see much of the leather pants, but I don´t like the idea. They look awfully shiny as well.

Meghan has a pretty face and I like her make-up, but I´m not a fan of her hairstyle.

Regarding her message: I don´t understand why a contestant on AGT needs public support in the first place? Isn´t the competition about the contestant´s talent? I don´t know what his talent is (haven´t watched the show) but if he wins, I´m sure he´ll wonder forever if he won because of his talent or his story or this famous supporter.
I stopped watching talent shows a long time ago because they were less and less about talents and more and more about the people and their stories. As an insider once aptly said: no sob-story - no chance.
And now they start including support messages into the show? Ridiculous. There are so many examples of celebrities publicly endorsing or supporting candidates/projects/causes as if that is needed to validate them. I get the impression that these celebrities leech off the publicity of the candidate/project/cause in order to promote themselves. Meghan even managed to not only promote herself (and her son), but clearly also her agenda.
    PR Hollywood style.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Vanessa, obviously independently of your disapproval about her appearance on this show, there was actually a meaning behind her encouragement to the contestant, it's obvious that Meghan is supporting criminal justice reform as it is clear for many that it's applied very differently to people of color, specially African American males. I don't have any intention to debate the issue, I am just pointing out that that is probably the driving force behind the video.
Respectfully I find your comment about her "promoting " her son completely ridiculous, firstly I don't think that the child needs any promotion as he is known by millions and secondly the parents were adamant about not wanting a royal title for their son, enough said.
    Regards

  24. @ Cherry. It is incomprehensible that someone consistently sees only the dark side of every situation. This feeds into the theory that it is nothing more than making inflammatory statements to create unnecessary controversy. The lack of knowledge about the Innocence Project or the suffering of real people has no meaning nor does it inspire empathy... and marketing a toddler who has his needs taken care of for the rest of his life? to what purpose?? The end result is that people are so turned off by the incessant negativity that they leave. MB
