The restoration of Queen Sonja's childhood home located in Maihaugen has been completed. On September 25, 2020, The Queen attended the celebration held on the occasion of the restoration's completion and the ceremony where she was appointed as the honorary citizen of Lillehammer by Lillehammer Mayor Ingunn Trosholmen. The home has been opened as a museum which is open to the public.

Queen Sonja's childhood home was built in the 1930s in the residential area at Vinderen. The house was built for the Haraldsen family, and Queen Sonja lived most of her life there until she got married to Crown Prince Harald in 1968. Sonja’s childhood home moved from Vinderen to Maihaugen open-air museum in Lillehammer. The home has been restored like it was while the queen lived there between 1937 and 1968.

    The text is a little wrong. Queen Sonja’s home was located in the residental area of Vinderen, Oslo, and her entire home has now been moved and opened up at the Maihaugen museum.

    Not a mentioned that the King was supposed to escort her, but he was admitted to the hospital Friday morning due to breathing problems. Thank God everything seems to be fine. No covid., but he will stay at the hospital over the weekend ❤

      Even autumn can get quite cold in Norway and at her age, it's probably better to just wear trousers when it's cold.

    She looks good in autumn colours and swirly capes. I’m glad she’s wearing trousers to keep warm. I wish Q. Elizabeth would do the same, but I guess after all these years in dresses and coats it’s unlikely. (V.M.)
