Princess Charlene participated in the first day of "The Crossing: Calvi - Monaco Water Bike Challenge", start of which was given on September 12, 2020 in Calvi, France. Before the start of the race, her husband Prince Albert II of Monaco, her children Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella wished the Princess good luck. The brother of the Princess, Gareth Wittstock, also participated in the race.
The race with a distance of nearly 180kms will end on September 13, 2020 at the Yacht Club de Monaco. The target of the race is to travel from Calvi to Monaco in the shortest possible time by water bike and to raise awareness about the various programmes carried out by the The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.
Gabriella looks sweet in her pretty dress and I love her sun hat. Jacques is looking quite grown up now - I like his smart casual outfit.
ReplyDeleteI know there will be many comments on Charlene being "boyish", so let me say something positive about it. I like that a royal lady pulls off androgynous dressing so effortlessly. Charlene clearly wants to stick to sports, especially water sports. Short hair is always useful when one spends too much time in chlorinated/salty water, damage is less and easier to handle. Plus this is what, 2020 now? A Princess don't need to outwardly feminine to prove her worth as a royal, or stick to the mainstream idea of fashion of royalty. She pulls off the look that she has chosen and that's enough fashionable for me. Mimi
ReplyDelete@ Mimi, androgynous? ?? She is wearing sporting clothes, should women compete on high heels?
DeleteFiddle dee dee!!
MM
Well I've learnt a new fashion word today - androgynous clothing.
DeleteSo my tatty old pyjamas that I wear when I'm having my first cup of tea in the mornings have taken on a new life.
They are now my androgynous pyjamas.
If I get a telephone call in the morning, I can now be a bit snobbish and say, "sorry, can't talk now as I'm in my androgynous pyjamas haveing my cuppa - I'll call back later". Oh, it's made my day. Thanks Mimi.
@deadeggs, I am happy to have made your day and if it makes you feel good about being in your pyjamas, your comment made my day as well. So thank you!
DeleteTo the other anon, you should go through comments regarding Charlene in other posts of this website, you will understand why I wrote that. It wasn't meant as a snark. Good day!
Mimi
Being woman is a mission.
DeleteIt's not easy to have her own style... femine style. Some woman always be boyish.
Being a woman is NOT a mission.
DeletePrincess Charlene is wearing appropriate clothing for this gruelling event. When the occasion requires grand dresses, jewellery and make up she is stunning and "feminine".
For some woman is a difficult mission.
DeleteStunning? Duchess Catherine, Princess Mary, Queen Letizia, Crown Princess Victoria YES...
But Princess Charlene?
Being a woman is a difficult mission for some women? What does that even mean? If you're a woman you're a woman - it involves no effort.
DeleteAnd yes, Charlene can, has and does look stunning when the occasion demands. I suggest you look at some of the many gala dresses, well tailored suits and day wear she has worn over the years.
Anon 6:34 Don't be cruel. Of course, Charlene. Any woman can look a number of different ways given what they are dressed for. Garden work, house work, sport, office work, or formal affairs. Some women don't make their appearance a priority in their lives others do. I would not count Charlene among the women that do not care about how they look. She is a very beautiful woman. I am not sure what you expect Charlene to look like when training and competing in a sporting event. Why can't you be a woman that celebrates other women and their achievements? You have a personal issue with Charlene for some reason. Maybe you are jealous?
DeleteI don't see her delicate, cheerful, femine etc.
DeleteI don't mean only sports events. She's very similar to my exboyfriend but more more taller.
Anon 7:07 - are you seriously suggesting women have to delicate and always cheerful?!
DeleteYou're either 12 or brought up in the Victorian age.
I would suggest that rather than Princess Charlene not being feminine your ex was effeminate. And short...
Dear Anonymous 9/15/20, 7:07 PM
DeleteI'm glad he's now you ex.
Sound as if he (or she) was a bit of a weird one.
Hope, if you've got one, your current boyfriend is "normal".
Princess Charlene is looking very sporty.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Dee Devlin?
ReplyDeleteNot there given Conor McGregor isn't competing.
DeleteHer fiance was arrested for indecent sexual behaviour
DeleteI was thinking that he participed with Princess Charlene.
DeleteTo anonymous 11.57
It' not funny.
He was in the opposing team but was arrested for indecent exposure and attempted sexual assault.
DeleteCan't see where anyone has suggested it's funny.
I received as a hate about Dee. I'm sorry. OMG...he's a husband and father.
DeleteConor McGregor was released without any charges
DeleteHe has been released with out charge but it isn't quite clear whether there will be any follow up. His lawyer says the accusations were "abusive" - I'm guessing he means malicious intent.
DeleteWhat are the accusations?
DeleteClosely.
The fringe is a bit too short but otherwise I think she looks great. The children are just adorable and Albert is looking pretty good as well.
ReplyDeleteTrès mignons les petits princes ; Gabriella craquante dans sa petite robe très estivale ; pas du tout féminine la frange trop courte de Charlène même si elle est idéale pour la pratique d'un sport, ce qui est le cas !
ReplyDeleteWhen she was still an olympic swimmer and met prince Albert she used to be such a naturel beauty. Then she started with all kinds of plastic sugery and every month a new hairstyle. Why....
ReplyDeleteGabriella is coming a little fashionista 💕
ReplyDeletew
Je souhaite une belle performance à notre princesse. Les enfants sont comme toujours craquants
DeleteThe kids are absolutely adorable, getting so big!
ReplyDeleteChel
She looks great, healthy and physically very active. Very good for the mind and body, well done.
ReplyDeleteExactly my thoughts!
DeleteThe twins are adorable and so beautiful.
The children look a bit clumsy in the care of their granddad. Seems they are not used to each other. Where is Prince Albert? Scarlett Witch
ReplyDelete@Deadeggs
ReplyDeleteYour comment is great!!
Where was Ryk Neethling (oh...yes..forgot..he left the Foundation). Where was Dominique who trained the twins to swim when they were six months...oh yes..oops .forgot she has also faded from the Foundation. As has Nerine Pienaar's husband (Nerine is Gabriella's godmother). Oh ...many questions. South African arm fell apart in first six months of 2020. Why? They moved out of their Cape Town premises and had no offical address or contact nos. I am becoming rather mystified as to what is going on. Now it is nepotism as her sister in law in SA has suddenly become President of SA arm while brother Gareth remains head of the Foundatuon per se. Much food for thought
ReplyDeleteWhat is the South Africa branch doing here?
DeleteHave you heard of COVID? Currently curfew and international travel prohibited for South Africa
The situation is very difficult in South Africa, the country has been heavily affected by the corona virus. Since March confinement, curfew, travel ban. Don't jump to conclusions too quickly.
DeleteCan't speak about the others but Dominique still supports the work of the Princess's foundation.
DeleteRumour has it that François Pienaar fell out with Chantell Wittstock but nothing substantiated.
The SA foundation has continued functioning and has raised its profile quite considerably.
She's in such good shape, the race must be very hard and she trained well for it. Albert looks very proud of her, and the kids are adorbs.
ReplyDeleteI think Princess is a beautiful lady and I am baffled about her looking androgynous. Some ladies have the shape of face that looks more attractive with shorter hair. That is why you always see her with different short hair styles always looking superb. Maybe she cut her bangs while she was competing to keep it out of her face. the bangs will grow out. What a beautiful princess!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty much one person who keeps harping on about the Princess being boyish, "not womanish" or feminine.
DeleteThere have been very hateful comments in the past. Mimi was just giving a positive perspective before the negative comments could get started. Charlene has been one of the royals that some of commenters love to hate. I agree with you. She is very beautiful, but dressed like this to compete in this event, without makeup and a ball gown, is just the excuse the haters look for to criticize her appearance. It is nice to know you are not one of them.
