Lovely pictures of a sweet baby and his very happy parents!

  2. What a cute little boy! I do admit that I am one of those who waited for Stephanies pregnancy and that I am very happy for them. I know that there has been a lot of harsh reactions to that ("It's none of your business wether she wants a child or not", "how can women be so patronising to other women" and so on) but still I am happy for them!

I'm very happy for them as well. I think they struggled with infertility. She has that sadness in her at times before the pregnancy news made me think they might also suffered miscarriage in the past. They don't come across as the kind that don't like children. Beautiful baby.

    2. Coralie, I feel the same as you do; I think it is perfectly natural to hope that a couple, particularly a couple in the position of some day inheriting a throne, will be blessed with children. My heart ached for Stephanie and Guillaume when years went by and other members of the family were having babies but they were not. I’m overjoyed for them!

Stephanie looks great so shortly after having had a cesarean. Guillaume needs a hair cut...

How do you know she had a caesarian? If she had, she wouldn't be doing this I think.

They look so happy, just wonderful pictures!

Anon 7:35 - Apparently - apparently - the proud new dad revealed in his little speech in Lëtzebuergesch that she had had a Csection. However, I stand to be corrected.

The only video I can find is Guillaume speaking in English (where he did not mention it), and I'm not spending any more time on it. Yes, walking after "normal" childbirth is uncomfortable enough, I cannot imagine what it would be like three days after major abdominal surgery.

Congratulations to the proud parents and to Luxembourg. Félix and Claire must be relieved as well.

    4. It's widely reported that she had a caesarean. And her walk to the car clearly showed that she was a little uncomfortable, indeed. But the new parents just beamed and exuded happiness. Prince Charles is an absolute cutie-pie!

it is widely reported by the Luxembourgish media that she had a Cesarean. Great sunny day to complement the joyous event, the whole country is happy for them!

  5. So happy for them. Don't they look so very happy. And lovely to see pictures of the baby so soon--as opposed to just bundled up in his parents arms like we usually see. Like Grand Duchess Stephanie's very smart and flattering white dress. Great choice.
Congratulations to them and much joy as Prince Charles grows up.

    1. qu'entendez vous par "ils n'ont pas l'air si heureux" ... qu'elle drôle de réflexion de votre part.
je trouve qu'ils rayonnent au contraire.
Un petite bouffée de joie dans ce monde si triste !

    2. Zellie a raison, ils irradient littéralement. Ils l'attendaient depuis tellement longtemps je présume

The sentence didn't translate well, the punctuation was wrong.

Don't they look so very happy. = They look so happy, don't they?

Zellie non, vous avez mal compris! "Don't they look so very happy" veut dire ils ont l'air heureux.

    5. I agree with you, AnnieM — it is so lovely when a princely couple lets the public share in their happiness by allowing beautiful photos like this to be released. Thank you, Guillaume and Stephanie!

This is a very beautiful baby for a change!

But I just notice, that she looks so much younger and age-appropiate in the black and white pic with open hair. The hairstyle when leaving the hospital makes her look awfully old. I wonder who forces the young female royals do disguise like that and let them look like their own grandmothers? Frieda

      Exactly my thoughts.

I don´t see the "must" to wear an immaculate white dress when leaving the hospital three days after delivering and getting a cesarian. That dress is a perfect outfit for a wedding, but not for that occassion, same with the hairdo. I wish them the best and a more relaxed life out of the "must"- box. Let´s misbehave! :-) Maxima should be her role model.

Seeing the pressure they (and other younger royals) must be in, I totally understand the why (not exactly the how) of Meghans "escape".

The baby boy is very cute. All the best to him.

    3. The hairstyle works for me because it allowed Stephanie to wear and remove her mask without altering it.

It has been said before, but I think it is worth saying again. Women leaving the hospital after giving birth just don't get glammed up. I think this is putting an unrealistic expectation out there for new moms. At the same time, I understand that there is no escaping the cameras waiting outside. In my opinion, the b&w picture is the best one. It is the real Guillaume and Stephanie, not the unrealistically dolled up new parents.

Hey Frieda? What does that comment mean? - "This is a very beautiful baby for a change!" Who are you calling ugly? You serious calling babies ugly? - K.C.

Yep K.C. , I know my point of view ist not very popular amongst women but I never thought newborn babies were beautiful, just like Queen Victoria did in this case, you see I'm in good company. Frieda

Adorable baby! Beaming parents! Happy day!

Congratulations and best wishes to one of my absolutely favourite royal couples and their new little prince. Proud mum looks fabulous in her white dress, I’d ask to borrow that anytime, it’s beautiful and comfortable. Several years ago, they visited my home state of Wisconsin, and someday, I hope they visit again with their son.

Babies are always a ray of sunshine, bringing hope and respite in challenging times.

I also love the fact that they dressed the little Prince in a Harrods onesie for his big day of being introduced to the whole world - an item that is relatable and attainable for many people, not a designer piece. Looks like they did some baby-stuff shopping before coming back from London :-)
