The Duchess of Sussex visited Mayhew animal charity in London

The Duchess of Sussex made a secret visit to an animal welfare charity during her short visit to London two weeks ago. On Wednesday morning, Sussex Royal posted two pictures of the Duchess's visit to London dog rescue centre. The post said: "The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day." The Duchess of Sussex is a Patron of Mayhew. (The Ducces wore a navy-blue cat by Massimo Dutti.)

  1. She has such a beautiful face, especially in profile and three-quarters profile. I like her hair here. Imo soft waves suit her more than a completely straightened style.

  2. I was about to applaud this blog as one who would not cover this non royal. As always, Ms Markle posts herself to distract from the work of Kate, a future queen. So sad she stoops to that level. Ann S, US

    1. Anon 8:36pm - I agree with everything you wrote. And her baby/dog-walking episode in BC the other day was staged. If you look at the road ahead of her there is no way she would not have seen photographers, even with long lenses, and she was looking right into the camera. Unfortunately, there will be no end to this. ~Rose~

    5. Sorry, Anon 12 14 The complaint was about the pictures of Meghan and Archie walking in the park. There is a separate allegation about paparazzi trying to look into the house. personally, I have no complaint about the photos being shown here but there certainly was an issue with the photos being published

    8. People are still interested in her. She is Prince Harry's wife. They stepped down from the 'senior' paid position to produce their own income instead of spending the publics' money. They criticized Meghan for being hungry for fame and marrying a prince, but now that they stepped down she is criticized for giving it up. She can't win. I think she chose happiness over senior position within the royal Firm. If she was hungry for the senior royal position she would have stuck with it like Kate who is probably as sick of the media making up stories about her and William including cheating. But Kate doesn't have the options that Meghan does. She is married to the future king and is pretty much stuck in the royal firm. The only way she can get away is by divorce, but she will not do that to her kids, beside she has settled into the royal life pretty nicely. Remember the answer she gave when asked how was it like to be a princess (well taken care of). That says it all. Kate will not survive outside the royal job, she has no skills for the real world. She doesn't have a resume. Meghan can survive in the real world. And Harry will be fine too. If not he can go back to his naked days in Vegas only this time he can get paid for it. Lol kidding. How can they "steal" the spotlight from The Cambridges? They're two different couples doing different things. Did you say that about Fergie & Andrew when it was Charles and Di? Like come on. 1. This was posted by Harry and Meghan on their RoyalSussex website - so Harry and Meghan wanted this to be seen. One can of course wonder why since they wanted privacy as you rightly pointed out, and holding the photos back to publish them now seems odd. I cannot help but see this as a way of image-management, and it makes this whole development look rather planned (or staged) on their part.
Anyway, we shouldn´t blame royal sites for picking up what royals publish. Thats actually journalism done right.

    4. 8:36 ridiculous. First When this event happened she was still a HRH. Second do you complain when this blog write about the Norwegian princess without a HRH title? Or the dutch royals who have normal jobs and earn their own income? The greek? Zara and Peter Philips, Cashiragis and many more. Respect Meghan and Harrys decision for what was right for their family. A decision like many other royals have made without being hated like this. Stand up and stop the hate. Third The Sussexe's will always be royals with or without HRH title, just like all the other I have mentioned. The interest for what they do will always be high. If you don't want to read about them no one can force you. Scroll over to the next article. Ugly comments about it will just tell who we are not who the Sussex are.

Catherine's visit yesterday and the one today is in the news and this is the day Meghan releases pics of her "secret visit" while still in UK. So I see this is the pattern...quite unabashedly obvious and quite laughable.

    2. Do you ever check facts? The Queen knew for months. The announcement was rushed because of the leak in the Sun, arguably from a ‘royal aide’. The details weren’t yet worked through. But Charles and William has asked a Harry to put his ‘details in writing’. That is exactly when the leak happened.

Open season for the anonymous keyboard warriors to start their temper tantrum, but oh my!!!have we forgotten that their final stepping down as senior members would be on the spring of 2020, in the meantime they will continue doing some appearances... but that is good, you all can vent and troll Meghan as much as you want. Irrelevant whether you think they are a "Royals or royals". They will always be part of the family, and Harry will be one day the son of the King, like Edward, Andrew and Ana are today, and no amount of your childish complaining will change that.. on the other hand I think you secretly love anything that is published about these 2, otherwise you won't comment.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I just can't understand the amount of hatred you are projecting towards her. For a woman (I suppose most commenters here are female) to hate another woman in such a ferocious manner is totally incomprehensible. It seems many of you have uncritically swallowed the stories of the British tabloids and those of her own sadly dysfunctional family. As it was said in the statements concerning their withdrawal from their roles as senior royals, they will continue to support their private charities and patronages and this is the way to do it, whether your name is Catherine or Meghan: by highlighting the work of those charities by visiting them and thus making the charities known to the wider public. To ask for privacy from intrusive and hostile journalists and paparazzi is a totally different matter.

I don't think people hate her--it's far too strong an emotion--disappointed, certainly, sad for both her and especially harry that things have gone this way, possibly angry at the cavalier way in which she has treated the Queen and Prince Charles who have, as far as we know, only shown her kindness. When people feel let down by someone they have admired, it's natural to want to vent their feelings. I don't think any of that constitutes hate

      Delete
    6. I agree with Ann. I actually liked Meghan, I thought she was nice and I was really happy for Harry to marry her. She carried herself well from what I could see and seemed to engage with the people she met. I also think that she is beautiful and I like her style.
And even now, I still don´t hate her but I am critical of her behaviour.
I call her out for being hypocritical and disingenuous and for not sticking to royal rules and protocol. I am criticising what she does, not who she is.
I am happy to re-evaluate my opinion, but news like this here just don´t impress me in any way, instead they cement my impression, hence the ongoing critcism.

Why leave the royal scene in favour of more privacy and then launch a new website to stay in the public eye?
Why agree to not use royal titles and more and then name that new site sussexROYAL?
Why did they release their news bomb on social media after allegedly having suffered from social media`s powerful impact?
Why say that those big life changes (new country, newly wed, new baby) were a bit much and challenging, and then find time to guest-edit British Vogue?
How can she pursue a career for years in the very industry that lives of public attention and then struggle with the attention that comes with being a public person?
And while I personally don´t see any feud between Meghan and Kate, I do agree that the timing of their big news was disrespectful towards Kate.
There are those small questions (like: Why have photos taken of a "secret" visit?
Why hold those photos back for 2 weeks and release them now? Why smile for cameras catching her walk the dog - which by any standard is a private outing? etc.) but it is the big contradictions that bother me:
If you want to be seen as a woman of colour, then don´t be surprised that your colour is talked about.
If you openly support black people - as a woman of colour yourself - then you basically say that there is racism. (Because, why else would they need support?)
If you say that there is racism, don´t be surprised that the vast majority of people in the UK don´t like to be called racists.
Most people think there is no racism issue in the country, and the fact that millions of non-white foreigners voluntarily live in the UK suggests there isn´t.
If there is no racism, don´t make pretty much everything you do about diversity.
A major issue for me is also that she cannot marry into a long-reigning royal family (whose job it is to observe traditions and keep the country´s historical heritage alive) and then go out and call for change in the world (see Vogue cover). That´s not the right message to send by any royal person, and especially not by someone who has only just entered the royal family and had better kept a lower profile during the first years in the country and on the job.

    8. I agree with most of the posts in this thread. I was the biggest Meghan fan and thrilled with the royal wedding. At this point, I'm disappointed. I don't think Harry and Meghan really want privacy but instead they want to be free of the royal rules. I also think something went wrong with the family relationships. I was hoping for the fabulous four to collaborate and I wanted Kate and Meghan to be friends. They started the royal foundation and then abruptly separated. That was the first of the big red flags. Too many erratic things have happened, so something isn't right. If Meghan was miserable, changing locations doesn't normally solve the problem. I hope it all works out though but time will tell. How hard is it to understand the difference in publicity between their public lives supporting their charities and work, and their private lives which is the privacy they're asking for? How difficult is it to see the made-up news and gross exaggeration that the press fabricates just to stir up the public about things that are nobody's business in the first place? It's unbelievable. Well said, Miss Marple and Cilla. Completely agree with you both.

This is a missed opportunity to bring awareness to this cause, what a shame! If ever you have a few extra $$$ please help the suffering animals and give them a forever home. I just lost my beautiful baby boy Rhett Butler who was a 18 year old Boston terrier and I cry thinking of him. Thank you for caring Meghan.....For this you can do no wrong!

    2. She may advocate for them but she broke up a pair of bonded dogs - judging from photos, and left a cross breed for unclear reasons in Canada. (The age doesn't hold up from her own postings - not to mention that is a time she could have used a private jet and people would have been understanding) Bogart was then replaced with a pure bred Labrador. (I have no objections to pure breeds - but am wary of people who give up dogs.)

As for the timing, this is obviously not a normal time for the Sussex duo. This meeting happened several weeks ago. Whilst they are of course free to post on Instagram whenever they wish, if they choose to do so when Kate has a prominent engagement, and Charles is making a controversial speech in Davos and starting a tour, of course, motives will be questioned. If they had waited until a quieter royal time, and there are plenty of quiet times coming up, then the entire focus would have been on the Mayhew charity and that sweet dog. It would just seem a wiser thing to do. Why invite people to think you're competing?

I love Meghan's coat and I still like her as I did before.

  23. Pure hate, negativity. Where do all these evil people come from? She can not go out for a walk when she wants to, because it overshadows Kate and Will? Well, if that’s the case it is the Cambridges problem...but hating on someone for walking...poor Meghan! Whatever she does all these evil people will hate her! And based on the comments, no matter what Kate does, she will always be adored!

    1. Well, she can live in Canada, go out with dogs, visit an animal charity, of course she can. But if she posts it on her Instagram account usually to particular dates, it is not a post from a private person but serves a purpose.

  25. I don't think many people *hate Meghan; I certainly don't; why would I invest that kind of energy into somebody I don't know? I find her behavior annoying and irksome, and that's about it. I just think that she either did not put enough thought into deciding whether to marry into the royal family was a good idea or was rather cavalier and thoughless about such a momentous step. But okay, we all make mistakes. In that case, I would expect someone in that position to deal with the situation as gracefully as possible, sparing the family as much pain as possible. Again, that didn't exactly happen. Oh well. We can't all do the right thing 100% of the time, not even if we have expensive PR people on our side. I can understand those who believe Meghan has taken one for team feminism or done the right thing by liberating herself from oppression - you can certainly tell the story to fit that narrative. But personally, I think it's much more heroic to get on with stuff the best you can, do your job in a disciplined way and keep your emotional turmoil to yourself. I guess it's a matter of taste and personality which way you prefer. So - I wish Meghan all the best, she obviously is a person of beauty, style, and strong convictions and I am sure she can put her gifts to good use somewhere, but apparently not within the framework of the royal family.

    1. @quakeress: You said "..I don't think many people *hate Meghan; I certainly don't; why would I invest that kind of energy into somebody I don't know? I find her behavior annoying and irksome, and that's about it."

      Really?
Please explain how can you be irked by the behaviour of someone you openly state you don't know??? What sense does that make? If you form opinions on a person who you don't know ("I just think that she...etc."), based on information told to you by a third party (such as a TV loud mouth with an authoritative accent, a gutter rag masquerading as a newspaper, a chat forum, etc.), isn't that another way of showing hatred to another person?
(And by the way, "she" is not alone in this. Her husband very much feels the same way, if not more, than she does.)

    2. @Anonymous 9:47: Of course you can form an opinion about the behaviour of someone, even if you don´t know the person. That makes perfect sense. In fact, that´s what we all should do - judge people by their actions. I thought that quakeress wrote one of the sanest and most balanced comments here.

    3. @Vanessa: What exactly do you or anyone know about Meghan's actions? Are you personal friends with her? Were you with her to know her feelings and behaviour? If you don't know her personally, you know nothing about her actions - only what you see reported, which is reported with editorial bias, together with a few photos that scantily represent less than a fraction of the event's duration being reported, but are selectively chosen to instigate comment.
If you think that that is what everyone should do and form an opinion based on what an editor manipulates you to see, go right ahead: Knowing you as I do, I'm not in the least surprised that you would find favour in a hypocritical and dithering comment. Not one single bit surprised. But carry on.

    4. @Vanessa. Still shots and mini film clips are 'excellent' references for your thesis. Behavioral experts will soon beat a path to your door. The writings of Quaker and Monty stand out for their sanity
Meghan and harry have left the stage. Ignore them. Celebrate the working royals as they continue to serve us with grace and charm.....for a price.

  26. Bogart was restricted by his age from a mandatory quarantine for all animals immigrating to another country. He was legally unable to enter the United Kingdom. To say that Meghan doesn’t like animals is really despicable. She adores her babies even the Queen’s dogs never yapped at her and laid on her feet during her first meeting with the queen. Even Harry said that was remarkable considering he was barked at all his life. Dogs are extremely bright and they know who really has a kind and loving heart. The Queen herself was pictured riding with Meghan’s dog. Regarding the posting of the picture, they want to promote their charities and bring attention to these special causes. But both Harry and Meghan do not want is to be part of the Royal Rota (designated Press specifically assigned to the Royal family). These so-called reporting were encouraging a media frenzy and not in a good way. Writing malicious hate-baiting articles and always with a negative tone which in turned achieved hateful response from their readers. As Harry said Meghan was falling victim to powerful forces just like his mother and he was determined to not make that continue. So he gave up being a full time royal to protect his wife and son. All of us can agree that Harry loves Meghan and Meghan loves Harry. Let’s celebrate that and their commitment to doing good. The rest is crap designed to stir up hated.

    1. No, I would not say that we can all agree that Meghan loves Harry. You do not know her heart and neither do I. Whether she truly loves him or not will only be proven one way or the other over time. When she gets all the desired money and fame from this union...what will she do? We will see.

    2. Bogart was reported to be roughly five years old by evidence on Meghan's own blog. You are wrong - there is no longer a mandatory quarantine for dogs coming from the US or Canada and has not been for many years now.

No person who 'adores' their dog would leave them behind - there are many, many ways to transport a dog safely, including specialised services, private jets and ships. I know many people who transported dogs, even old dogs, who had far less resources than Meghan. There is no legal age restriction on entry although certain breeds may be banned and a health passport is required. A well-cared for dog should be able to get a health passport easily.
I've never heard or seen photographic evidence that the Mulroney's adopted him but it's possible. It's more likely he remained with her former boyfriend Cory. There would be no reason to conceal the fact he was with the Mulroney's. The story that Harry told is odd because the queen had only one surviving corgi at the time Meghan arrived. Perhaps he meant dorgis - the queen has two.

I don't approve of the word 'hate'. All royal are public figures and like all public figures, criticism is expected and most public figures expect that. I've seen many more favourable articles on the Sussexes than negative ones - many from Meghan's own publicists. The press responds to public feeling.

Diana died because she left the royal family, not because she remained in it, so the idea that Harry is 'protecting' his family is nonsensical. She died because she got in a car driven by a drunken driver - the sort of situation, royal security most probably would have prevented. The chances are high that Harry and Meghan will also be hiring private security when they are working privately.

Harry and Meghan wished to remain part-time royals whilst earning what they hope will be large sums privately. The palace did not permit that and so they left. That's their prerogative but there's not much to celebrate in it for any of the parties.

  27. I like the coat very much. D. Meghan really suits dark colours doesn’t she? They bring out the warmth and glow of her skin and complement her dark hair.
Sadly, the vitriol continues even on this generally civil blog. Too bad. I hope her new circumstances bring her happiness and contentment. (V.M.)

  30. No Coralie, one can’t ever get tired from trying to spread a little kindness, is like not talking in school when you see a bully, somebody needs to speak up. Is not a sign of an evolved individual to judge, pontificate and portray their own bitter ideas about people that they don’t know. Even with the ones we relate, our job is not to judge, only to advise when asked and support when needed. I have seen your posts for sometime, so I understand that you have a different view, but believe you me, some of us will continue to stay in our lane and will continue to call on the haters.
May you have a blessed day.

Meghan's coat is not from a "designer" but from Maximo Dutti, which is part of Inditex, low cost firm.
And guess what it's exactly the same brand that Catherine wore yesterday.

Archie is so cute;and has a dear little face. He will always have a place in the Queens heart as all her grandchildren do.I have a video of my son giving Her Majesty flowers in Ballarat(Australia) years ago;my son and this little girl called out to her Your Majesty(dozens of times)she came over to them;it was like a descending angel;so lovely. That is Majesty.

  33. The best answer comes from the Dutch Prince Constantijn, son of ex queen Beatrix and brother of the actual Dutch King: He said on Dutch TV, a few days ago, that he TOTALLY UNDERSTANDS Harry & Meghan that they wanted out and have their own life. He, as the king's brother, has more freedom in the Netherlands than Harry and Meghan had in England. Constantijn and his wife have earned their own living from the beginning, live in The Hague in a normal house and do not have to deal with the paparazzi or the gutter press like H & M.

  34. @ Carrie, you WANTED Kate & Meghan to be best buddies, you WANTED the fantastic 4 to be a real thing.
How in the world do you people think that these royals are even remotely part of your life... It couldn't happen because it was a made up thing by the tabloids... so it must be Meghan's fault , I strongly recommend a dose of reality, and a redirection of your aspirations towards people that you actually know... and if all fails there are always Harlequin Romance novels.
    Ladies, you are most welcome.

  37. @Julia the criticism has gone to the dogs..literally. If you are not the pup's vet, the graceful thing to do is to accept the explanation. After all the criticism about her spending, now no expense should have been spared to get the dog and probably a caretaker to the UK. (arguing both sides of the same point). You even speculate who has the dog...How much personal information do we need? MB
