At the beginning of each new year, Japan's imperial family releases family photos. This year too, the imperial family released family photos. This year's family photos are the first family photos taken after Emperor Naruhito ascended the Chrysanthemum Throne last year. The family photos also show the new emperor for the first time in family photos. Photos were taken on December 12. Zodiac animal figures and a traditional toy "buriburi" are on the table. |
Japan's imperial family has traditionally released new year family photos since 1990. (In 1990, family photos were not released due to the family's mourning.) |
The consistency in setting, family order, and dress in the year-to-year photos is interesting. The last photo is the best, I think, because it looks less staged.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see the entire family, but that 'look at the table' pose makes me laugh.
Perfect consistency in immutability. Hair styles remind us that time goes through
ReplyDeleteEnfin un peu de couleur dans les photos de famille !
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for showing us all the Imperial Family new year photos through the years !
ReplyDeleteMice to go back in time here. Thanks for posting so many photos from down through the years... in their favorite room but different tables. Looks like they finally let loose, renovated, and added a plant. Not judging or poking fun - just commenting on a family that above the rest is seriously steeped in tradition. *Rose*
ReplyDeleteNice History from 1990 -2020. All pics are great. and still the same.
ReplyDeleteExcelente idea:las fotos dan idea de tiempo...elegantisima y charme la ex emperatriz y la emperatriz actual
ReplyDeleteSuch interesting beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures symbolize strict protocol and tradition. Like in the UK. However in this last country, pictures and behaviour of the royals get more and more informal and modern. So here we see 30 yrs of pictures that look more or less the same. Tradition and protocol in royal families are necessary, but they should also represent modern times. Hopefully the Japanese emperial family is going to innovate itself a bit in a new direction.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, the only different background was when after Princess Aiko was born and after the enthronement. . As the couple’s beliefs, they have change with time while keeping the good old traditions.
